    Terrific video, John! Not only is it extremely helpful for the seasoned collector, but also someone like myself who simply has a smaller cellar inventory to keep track of. Large or small, a collection of wine is dynamic. I am often challenged to remember which wines I currently have vs. those I have already enjoyed, or how many bottles of a particular wine remain. You provided some very useful solutions for my personal challenges and those of larger scale collectors! Very much appreciate you taking the time to share this information!

    Hi John. I use an Excel spreadsheet to manage my wine collection. Every bottle is assigned to a specific space making it very easy to locate a bottle. And Excel's pivot table tool allows me to display my collection any number of ways. Easy and cheap.

      I do Google Sheets so I don't have to pay for Microsoft Excel and have off-site access to my inventory through my phone.

    Another good video. I’ve been using CT for a few years and have found the drinking windows are helpful. My small collection is geared towards having something on hand to pair with whatever we’re having for dinner and most of the wines have recommendations available. Since my wife rarely drinks more than 1/2 a glass I’m “forced” to finish the bottle all by myself. It’s a tough job but someone has to do it. 😁

    John, Great video. Do you have any content on how you suggest labeling your bottles or bottle locations and tracking that in cellar tracker. i also use cellar tracker but haven't started tracking location, but my collection is growing and is now becoming an issue. would love to see how you achieve this. Thanks.

    • @AttorneySomm

      Thanks very much! In terms of location, I have some bottles on site and others off site, so I specify that in CT. Other than that, I tend to cluster my bottles together by region/country so I have a general sense of where to look. So far I don't do anything more precise than that, but I know some people have little tags that they put around the tops of the bottles so that they can read that quickly when the bottle is on its side.

    Good video, CT really seems to be the only game in town. I personally do not know a single wine collector not using it. Funny you mentioned the drinking windows, I’ve found that they are almost always way too conservative for my tastes. Also the aggregate “score” often seems somewhat useless, everything seems to be ranked 89-94… I think the key is to find some critics and users who have the same tastes as you and just follow them, ignore the rest

    • @AttorneySomm
      @AttorneySomm  3 года назад

      Thank you! Yes, I very much agree with you about the scores. There are a couple whose tastes generally align with mine that I check. Otherwise I just look for high- level comments about decanting, etc. During my research, I saw a number of other options available, but I don’t personally know someone who uses a different solution. I do like the Corkz app much better than the CT app.

    Excellent video John ! I have been a member of CT for more than a decade and what is very useful to me is to find users that have similar preferences that mine. For example , I enjoy very much Napa , Australia, Argentina wines and I don´t enjoy a lot Northern Rhone , and mostly all Italian wines. So, when I am looking for wines I will look for people that enjoy the kind of wines I enjoy an voila ! Imagine a fan of Burgundy placing a note about a Mollydooker wine !!! Wine is like food, there are so many options and there is no good or bad, it depends totally on your preference. Saludos desde México !

    • @AttorneySomm

      I downloaded the app long ago and it works fine for me. I initially loaded everything in cellar tracker so I have that too, but prefer the Corkz app. It was only a $2 or $3 one time fee to get the Corkz app.
