I love Greg Shorthand, and have for over 12 years now , nearly 7 days a week wrote in Greg Shorthand, and if one is going after speed, then you will have to develop many brief forms to stay with the dictation, for instance, in longhand, just as we can write the words : medical doctor, we can also brief form it with : MD, this is how shorthand works in brief form also, and the more brief forms the transcriptionist develops the faster they will be able to follow the dictation. I LOVE SHORTHAND
I have made a (revised) video about Pitman shorthand, which you can find in my user channel, in 3 parts (about 25 minutes total.) Shorthands do away with the alphabet and use strokes of various sorts to represent sounds. "Speed writing" systems still retain the alphabet or a simplified alphabet, and may indeed be easier to learn, but the shapes of the alphabet are still too complex to get to the very highest speeds of writing.

when I graduated from business school, I took dictation for 10 minutes at 150 words per minute and got it all right. Could not do it now.
