I am a conservation biologist and I wanted to let Donna know that not only is her information extremely correct and well said, but her passion and dedication for sharing this with everyone is amazing. We need the butterflies just as much as honey bees. We also need public education in order to make changes in the future! Thank you for such an amazing job of sharing this with all of us 💕

My grandpa just recently passed away, and we would always call him "papa butterfly" for his love and interest in butterflies especially monarchs. So hearing donna's interest in this and educating us on all of this just warms my heart. She talks about it just like my papa used to.

Just to let you know Donna my grandmother is also a huge advocate for butterflies specifically monarch butterflies. She currently has 82 caterpillars and 13 butterflies in chrysalises

The name of the activist was *Homero Gomez* . He was proud of his work, I mean, he really took care of these butterflies 🦋 He used to say the butterflies were the "girlfriends of the sun". The people of his town admired him and they still do. We all do.
If you google him you'll see beautiful pictures of him surrounded by butterflies 🦋🧡

To the lady with the boyfriend who locks himself in his room: My dad had a video game addiction and would lock himself in his office for hours to days at a time we would only see him when he would use the bathroom or get food. It ruined my family and his marriage. They separated and my mom moved three states away taking half my family with her. Ten years later they just signed the divorce this year which was messy. I wouldn’t recommend starting a family with a neglectful person who wont be there for you or your kids… coming from the child of one.
Also coming from a failed marriage/parents, I was the "maybe a baby will fix this mess!" I think women have this tendency to think that in due time and gentle reminders things will straighten out, they will fix their own problem. But we give them too much credit. Honestly if your partner will do it they WOULD. If you guys separate you can always take him back when he does straighten out but you cannot take back the time spent on suffering.

Seeing Donna dressed up as a butterfly filled my whole heart with such warmth! This is so wholesome!!
I’m crying with happiness. Now that she’s finally talking about them. Crazily touching, and a year late.
On my way home today I saw a monarch flying around a very small milkweed plant near the entrance to a rather busy parking lot. Every time a car passed or the wind blew she’d get scared, fly away, and then immediately come back to the same plant, only to get spookmagooked by something else before she could land. I watched her do this a few times and realized that she was probably trying to lay her eggs on the only milkweed she could find, which clearly wasn’t a suitable place to lay eggs 😢 I thought about how Donna was treated last week and everything about both of those experiences was so sad. I’m very happy to see that you gave her a platform to talk about this and tbh, if she hadn’t educated us on butterflies before, I wouldn’t have had that insight into the butterfly’s behavior. I learned something new, so THANK YOU DONNA!!! 💖

It makes sense that Ethan wouldn’t want Donna to read her essay on butterflies at that time when they whole family had traveled there for just one episode. Sure maybe he handled it wrong, but it was obvious he was over exaggerating for comedic effect. If people don’t like it, they can simply state that instead of being insulting. I couldn’t imagine someone dissecting my family dynamic, it would make me never want to bring my family online again.

Hearing Donna speak about this problem was great, I am from Mexico and we are all very upset with the government and the cartels, since the whole system is corrupt, it sucks, however, the new generations are more informed and there is more and more activism.
Btw the Mexican activist who was assassinated was: Homero Gómez González, he was an engineer and an activist. He was also the director of a nature reserve for monarch butterflies in Michoacan. We miss him and love his work. 🦋
I am not Mexican but I appreciate and respect their culture and it makes me sad to see the cartels take over too. But I agree, I think new generations are going to bring the change that we wish to see and I am hopeful for Mexico

Hiii idk if anyone from the pod would see this, but Donna would truly be a great guest visitor in a retirement home or long term care. I work in a LTC and we have a lady who comes in during the summer and works with a group of the residents to put together terrariums for monarch butterflies and she brings in caterpillars and the residents LOVE it! They get pictures with the butterflies and get to check in on them and watch them hatch. Donna seems to have a great demeanour in general for working with older adults and I'm sure if she was interested they would love to have her.

Yes! I agree. I would like more information on this, because it's just so strange. He's clearly hiding something, and who knows what it could be. There are people who are married for years and have no idea who their spouse really is and who they lie in bed with every night. Its alarming behavior to say the least. She should get some spy cams that looks like USB charging ports and hide them in there when he is gone. Amazon sells them for about $40. Although, who knows, he could have cameras in there.

Hi, doctor here! When any male doctor has to perform any kind of medical examination on a woman, a female attendant (any female, might be another doctor or a nurse or an intern or the patient’s relative) is mandatory to be present in the room. It’s not a rule that HAS TO BE enforced but most male doctors will prefer to do that, as this practice protects both the patient and the doctor.
How is it mandatory if you say it’s a rule that doesn’t have to be enforced in the next line? Just curious! I wish it was mandatory because then doctors like Larry Nassar wouldn’t be able to harm patients under the guise of medical treatment

GRACIAS Donna, for bringing more awareness towards this issue, in Mexico we are educated about the preservation of the monarchs and I see more people here in Monterrey planting milkweed, but as with any problem in Mexico the issue is complicated because of el cartel and the corruption, and our president is not eco-friendly at all, but the USA is no help either, you guys exploit our natural resources pay dirt cheap for our produce and leave the land barren

Like the top commenter here, I am also a biologist that specializes in endangered species act policy. Donna is very knowledgeable and I appreciate her passion! This is very similar to the orangutans in Borneo being lost to deforestation for palm oil production. Except the Orangutans are a “sexy” flagstone species whereas the small Monarch butterfly here is not so does not get as much attentions
