This was really hard because a have a lot of hair and it tangles a lot but I got it after a try and a half XD Thank you for this! You made this braid so easy for me!
Thats my only problem, my hair is so thick I get halfway down and I can barely hold all of it do you have any tips for me? Since you have thick hair as well and you have figured out how to do it.
That was the best explanation on how to do a 5 strand braid I've seen. It took me a while to understand how the braid was being created but then I realized you were braiding all five strands at the same time.
Dear Abby, when I saw this video I went "there's a bunch of other vids that explains it better already!"... But then I wanted to try so I watched the video 2-3 times to get the procedure, then I sat with your video on and ...it's magical, at the 2nd try I have it! Am sooo excited! Thank you for this , and the other wonderful videos on your channel! You're amazing!! Baci from Italy!
THIS VIDEO ROCKS!!!!! Thank you for making it "one handed" like this. so much easier than trying to braid from both sides at the same time. It took some practice but I finally got it and love doing this braid.
Ok, I love this... it's adorable, and I can avoid a pony tail or bun, which is awesome. No arm pain for me, but I'm used to braiding my hair, which is currently down to my natural waist (no layers, other than natural from my hair's insistence on natural U shaping) ... yea, I have a lot of hair - made it kinda tricky towards the nape of the neck, but this is gorgeous... took me two tries to get it good enough to wear in public. Totally doable, even if you aren't that great at braiding your own hair, just takes a little practice :D
I want to do a five strand side braid. Is there anyway that you could do a tutorial on that? Or have you found one that's easy to understand? You explain it so well and are a great teacher :)
So appreciate this instructional video. This braid has always been one of my favorites, but I just never got my fingers right. This looks pretty easy with a little practice! Thanks for recording this!
I just want to thank you soooo much for this tutorial!!! I had to watch it like 3 times but then I just totally figured hoe to do it and I gotta say... I'm obsessed with it!!! It's my bed hairstyle so the next mornig my hair dried in some like curls :D but I also love t wear it at school or for ballet lesson with a bun in the end... and I'm doing 5 strand braids at all of my friends hair to :D I just love love love this braid and I would've NEVER figured out how to braid this without your amazing tutorial!!!! Thi 5strand braid is just so easy to braid if you know how and there are so many variations... I also love to braid it very tight and then It loooks kinda different too... so THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH for this tutorial (I know, I repeat myself :D) and I'm looking forward to much more videos *o* xoxo Lucy
Thuis is amazing!!! I am able doing a 5 or 6 stranded braid but not as a Dutch braid..... I am practicing all day , wanna learn this!!! Thnx for the tutorial!!! Love it!
That was an awesome tutorial. I was able to watch it and then remember the steps and do it the next morning. So helpful to have such a simple pattern. Thank you!!
Finally! After several errors, I nailed it! Here some tips, you have to make sure that each finger separate the right strand, where to hold, and how to hold...after first row, take your time to separate each strand and widen the gap so it is easier for your fingers to find their way going under and over. And keep doing that if you are not sure if it is the right gap to go under or over. Hope it helps, the result worth the effort :D
This was very helpful! Like you said, first couple attempts were hard & I just wanted to give up but it is weird how your fingers just kinda take over! Thank you so much for posting! !!
Great tutorial! Was able to follow along first time. Any suggestion for longer hair and how to flip the hair position when bringing it over the shoulder?
Thanks for your tutorial. I have been practicing for a week and I can finally do it! I may be a slow learner, but I was determined to learn it and now I can do it! I have very thick hair so that may have made it more difficult. Thank you SO MUCH for showing us how to do this!!!
Got it! Took several tries, but you're right. Just thinking of the fingers and not worrying about the hair worked. I also had to be sure that I was looping around the strands PAST my fingers, instead of right next to my head, otherwise sometimes I'd group two sections together.
Thanks to you I've been able to manage it ! The braid isn't perfect yet, but I'm really surprised how fast I improved thanks to your technique. Thank you very much ! :)
Omg!! You made magic. So did I, lol😂 I got in the first try😨 just following you in every step! I still couldn't believe myself! Am spellbound😁 Can you do a video for the same but on the side? cause my braid gets twisted when doing as a side braid!!😶 Thanks!!
yes! I finally got it 😊 I was trying to do the 5 strand brad a couple times befor on other tutorials, but I couldn't figure it out so I gave up. but now with yours I succeeded 😊 the crucial was your tip than I mustn't look in the mirror 😊 so biig thanks
Done! Holy crap my arms!!! Great tutorial, you were very clear the whole time and its way easy than trying to five strand by going back and forth with two hands. Thank you!
I love this! I love braiding! I can do a 5 stand braid on other people but never could figure out how to do it on myself. Ty ty ty for making this video. Can't wait to see all the styles u come up w next. What a great teacher and beautiful person. :) I posted my own pic of it on instagram.
I've never had the "courage" to do even a regular Dutch braid (or French for that matter), but I had to try this. It took about 20-25 minutes, but I made it through first try! Great guide :D
This is a tremendously difficult way to do a Dutch Braid, 5 strand. It is really very easy.... -split the hair at the crown. -left hand, hold 2 sections -leave one section in the middle -right hand, hold 2 sections *Start on left -Take the first section under the second and over the middle -Go to the right side -Take section 1 on the right under right hand section 2, over the middle. -Go back to the left and grab some additional hair, That becomes section 1 -Under section 2 on the left -Over section 3 -Go to the right side, grab some extra hair and That becomes section 1 on the right. -Weave it under section 2 on the right and over the middle .........keep going. Then you're done.
+italianredneckgirl could you do a video or share a link that has a tutorial on doing it this way. This sounds easier for me since my hair is super thick and this seems to cut down on holding all the sections at once.
+MultiCuriouskitty sure, I'll give it a go. My youngest daughter has been growing her hair for Wigs 4 Kids and I couldn't French braid to save my life. Horrible for my 23 year old, lol. But, honestly, the way I learned it was to use bread making tutorials. I know, it's crazy, but true! 5 strand, 3 strand, even 11 strand!
i got it! :) it took the length of a tv show… but i finally got the rhythm of the "weaving" and it looks beautiful! to anybody who's having trouble: practice without adding the extra hair on each side. once you find that rhythm, it's easier to add-in that extra "french" touch after… that's what i did and it worked. and i agree with abby, stick with it! :)
Don't give up!!! Try it for five minutes. It's really just one of those things you have to practice and mess up a bunch of times before you can get the hang of the fingering
AlyssaAttackk I recommend watching this video on Facebook. This way is a lot easier in my opinion. >< facebook.com/video.php?v=844057442312393&pnref=story
I know this sounds weird but if you take rope and do it with rope you develop muscle memory and that will super help you with doing your hair . Good luck keep trying its so much fun the problem i have is my arms get tired half way through, the struggle is real hahahha
OMG I finally got it!! I've tried it many times before but now I got it on the first try!! You made it really simple:) It even works out for a bob :) thank you !!
Oh My God! If i had been you, even i would not have done this!! I will not try to do neither :D You' re a master! We have already accepted this :D Thank you for your tutorial :))
I've done this before! It helps to start out with a normal five strand, and then add in hair once you're comfortable. The easiest way for me to remember is "under, over" for a Dutch braid or "over, under" for a French braid :)
Do you think you could do this on a model so we can see where the fingers go when you are doing it on someone else!! I am doing my sisters and her friends hair for prom and I love this braid!!! Thank you!!
I see that a lot of people are kind of disappointed, because they say you've made it much complicated than it should be. However, your procedure is the easiest way to get a nice 5 strand braid. Thanks a lot!!! My girlfriend's gonna be so happy!!! :D
oh!! At first I was like what?! Then u started to get into the braid more and it started to make sense!! But sadly I would never be able to do this beautiful braid because I can't even do the first stitch! lol Keep up with the Beautiful work!! :)
Do you mean the hair that is added is between the middle finger and pointer finger cause that what it looks like except you are saying to add it between the pointer and thumb?
It also works to make two french braids leaving that crown piece out of the braids. Take the crown piece separate it into three and braid it. You pick up a loop of hair from each french braid with the outside pieces. It's like you are sewing the two braids together.
It is so beautiful, thank you! At first I didn't get it all and managed to do only one 'row' but after a few tries I succeeded and it is so amazing! 👍💗😀
You should teach me your way! All the other ways were super hard for me to understand. Did you learn from a video? I wanna watch it! If there's any easier way I'd love to show my viewers!
I always seem to lose a section, so by the end of the second pass I only have three sections. Is the fourth section supposed to merge with the first after you hold it with your thumb?
Stuff like this makes me regret cutting my hair off. And then I remember how annoying it was before, and I think I'll just stick to admiring other people's hair.
thanks so much for teaching it this way!!! i learned it after watching it twice...cant thank you enough!!!! xxxx i could never do the other way of doing 5 strand braid as that needs to hold each strand in the fingers...but this is the EASIEST way to get a good grip on the strands!! :-) :-) can you please do a headband using this same way ?? thanks again xxx
It could be hard, if you have never done anything with your hair. but i can do this, so i found out that´s very easy for me. thank you for this tutorial.
I thought the instructions were pretty clear except you never mention to keep that outside stand of hair held in your pinky finger! Once I figured out you were doing that, I could get through a weave or two. I'm still having trouble finding all the stands though, since all my fingers are holding them so close together I end up grabbing two at a time. :-( I hope to get it right eventually!
Exactly the same problem ! I had to watch the video 5/6 times before I get what was wrong but I still don't get this beautiful result :) I think practice is the key :p
I don't know how or what I do, I just somewhere end with 4 strands... Good news is I already can do the 4 strands braid. 😂 I'll keep trying, it's just practice I hope, you explain it soooo well it almost look easy!
i did it!!!! after 2 hours of practising i did this beautiful 5 strand braid on my long and thick hair. im so proud of myself :)
CONGRATULATIONS!
This was really hard because a have a lot of hair and it tangles a lot but I got it after a try and a half XD Thank you for this! You made this braid so easy for me!
Oi
Thats my only problem, my hair is so thick I get halfway down and I can barely hold all of it do you have any tips for me? Since you have thick hair as well and you have figured out how to do it.
took me ages to get right, but I finally did it. Wouldn't have been able to without such clear instructions!
Been watching 5 strand braid vids. Yours is the easiest to follow.. I so love how you made it so easy!
That was the best explanation on how to do a 5 strand braid I've seen. It took me a while to understand how the braid was being created but then I realized you were braiding all five strands at the same time.

This makes sense watching it, but I'll definitely need to practice to get it down good. Love the braid though! Thanks for the video!
THIS VIDEO ROCKS!!!!! Thank you for making it "one handed" like this. so much easier than trying to braid from both sides at the same time. It took some practice but I finally got it and love doing this braid.
I've been struggling for forever to do a 5 stand Dutch braid. This makes it so easy! Thanks so much!
I watched this video 15 times. I finally got it! This is such a cute braid and looks professional! Thank you so much for this tutorial!
Oh, this tutorial is great! I barely see any tutorials telling which fingers to use when braiding! This is so helpful! Love it
thanks a lot Abby ....your the only one who has been able to teach me how to do this braid !!
You are so good at explaining and showing! Keep doing what you do because it's amazing!

This is gorgeous! Where can I buy that tool you used to tuck the ponytail ?
This is stunning and so clear and helpful! I can't wait to try it.
amazing! I'm going to have to watch this tutorial a good dozen times before I even attempt it!
So appreciate this instructional video. This braid has always been one of my favorites, but I just never got my fingers right. This looks pretty easy with a little practice! Thanks for recording this!
It took me many replays to figure out what to hold and where to put each strand of hair, but I finally got it and love it! Thanks! :)

I tried it and I did it! Is not so difficult when you got it :D Thank you! My last step is to take even strands of hair.
Omg!! You made magic. So did I, lol😂 I got in the first try😨 just following you in every step! I still couldn't believe myself! Am spellbound😁 Can you do a video for the same but on the side? cause my braid gets twisted when doing as a side braid!!😶

Ahh, got it! Had to watch a few times, but it worked. Thanks for making it so easy!
Five strand braids look so cool. I am just so incompetent at doing them. Need so much practice to get it right and this video is helping immensely.

Thank you so much!
Tried it! It turned out great! I'll have to post it on Instagram
She really knows how to teach unlike some other channels like she's explaining and slow moing the camera so we know what to do :)
Do you think you could do this on a model so we can see where the fingers go when you are doing it on someone else!! I am doing my sisters and her friends hair for prom and I love this braid!!! Thank you!!

you make it look so easy!!!
i was waiting for such a hairstyle .. thanx a lot Abby
It was really cool how you painted your nails red in this tutorial. I could see your fingers much better that way.

Fantastic tutorial! It took a lot of practice, but I got it and it's so worth it!! Thank you. :)
You've made it so much more complicated than it needs to be
You should teach me your way! All the other ways were super hard for me to understand. Did you learn from a video? I wanna watch it! If there's any easier way I'd love to show my viewers!
She made it understandable
I learned another way from I think Luxy Hair
I always seem to lose a section, so by the end of the second pass I only have three sections. Is the fourth section supposed to merge with the first after you hold it with your thumb?
I did it! Thank you Soo much for this awesome tutorial.

It could be hard, if you have never done anything with your hair. but i can do this, so i found out that´s very easy for me. thank you for this tutorial.
omg i was getting so frustrated with myself cuz i couldn't do it but now I CAN DO IT!! IM SO HAPPY!

That one is coming up this week! It was a teaser picture!
Love this hairstyle and your nails! Too bad my curls would pop out like crazy!
that braid is asome
I thought the instructions were pretty clear except you never mention to keep that outside stand of hair held in your pinky finger! Finally I did it!!!!! Love it so much !
