I didn't realize the first tip was the one I was struggling to communicate to a lot of my teammates who play doubles. They always expect me to pass to like 20/10 or to push them to their side or even just pass right to them. They're frequently late to the ball and don't give a good set even when it's at the spot highlighted in the video. Now I can communicate to them how I will be trying to pass, so they can better set me, and release to the correct spot. Thanks!

Any chance we can get a video on tips for quads? All league play around here is 4s and it seems that many major tournaments are also 4s.

Day 2 of commenting on every new video that is helpful until my friend and I make it to Hermosa Beach🤠. (Probably staying square to my target because I bump set a lot and feel like I can set the ball perfectly with my platform while not staying square. That’s not the case though, just ends up going over the net lol.)

The second one! Especially after being used to indoor sets that are supposed to be deceiving in their direction

I struggle with the net foot forward. The ending of the video 🤣

Staying square to the target. I seem to want to face where the pass is coming from and then set sideways towards the target. Makes it difficult for my partner to read. Also I sometimes over run the ball which puts me in this situation if the pass is doesn't go forward or isn't as far forward as I was anticipating.

Thanks Brandon!! When should I look at the opponents to make a call to my hitter? So, when I'm showing off my set, do I immediately look at my opponents to guide my hitter? Or, should I wait until I pull off?

Is keeping the "net leg" forward really about keeping momentum, or is it more about putting the stability more firmly on the "outside" (where outside is where you don't want the ball to go, aka over) so if you shank the shank will keep the ball on your side of the court? 🤔 I think you also put more weight on the outside leg on serve receive so the ball shanks to the court instead of away. Quite possible I've misunderstood though.

Thinking on it more, isn't the point of the forward net leg to create a plant foot such that the net shoulder isn't ever the lower shoulder (since it becomes unnatural with that strong base)? While looking for even shoulders, if that isn't achieved, the non-net shoulder would be the lower shoulder meaning a poor set keeps the ball on your side of net. If one shoulder is higher than the other, the ball goes in the lower shoulder direction, which is preferable to be on your side versus going over. Again, I could be way off base.

@@GifvoivPlays these are good questions. Jeff. My best guess is also that it sort of biases the ball away from the net in the case of a less than perfect set, but also so the setter can more easily turn toward the net and receive the ball if the hit is blocked.
