Design is not a competition. But these Gents are some of the most influential on graphic design, and design more widely. Hope you enjoyed this one! Is it a little slow for the in-yer-face style of RUclips? Or do you enjoy the pace and the detail?✌️
I love your soft voice with a punch of excitment. The pace suits for me well and I really enjoy the relaxed vibe you give off. Appreciate the hard work you are putting in, we noticed it 🙌
Apprecite the detail and pace a lot! From someone who have no design background and jumped in UX UI & website design directly, these branding and graphic design knowledge help me understand why the design standard and rules are the way they are today! More videos about classic & influential designer please!
Absolutely not too slow, Matt. I'm hoping to take your brand design course and really admire the rigour. It's quite something to see you explain these movements and to be able to see the depth of your analysis (and, on a personal note, to help me connect some dots between my art history/visual culture theoretical background and how that's expressed when working in more commercial or more industry-affiliated movements related to visual culture rather than the gallery/museum/curatorial work I studied in university).
Love this video! I have never had a proper design education so it’s good that you guys introduce some graphic design history so we can see why we design the way we are today!
I enjoyed this one too! Hey, I'm a little late to the party with this comment, but if you're ever in search of more design history content, check out "Titans of Type". I read a biography for each episode, and explore the lives, careers, and minds of history's most influential type designers. :)
Am I the only one that tries to create and clean design but have that reject it and make my job as hard as possible. I wonder what clients thought initially when seeing their work earlier on.
It is wild! Studying this stuff is so eye opening. If you're ever searching for more, you should check out Titans of Type podcast. I explore the lives, careers, work, and minds of history's most influential type designers and read a biography for each episode.
It is not Otto Aich , the name of designer is Otl Aicher, Otto is nickname and the surname is totally wrong. I am sorry for writing this I really like your video but I think others should know for this designer and know the real name so they can find it.
@@FluxAcademy It is not accent 'cause is on the labels of chapters of the video. I understand that Germany language is difficult and the name and surname is not pronounce even well not just on this one. But overall at least change the name of the chapter so the new designer can google him. The content is great and will be very helpful
@@the_infinity_channel "auto generated" means that chapters were not added manually. Rather, RUclips automatically created chapters based on the audio transcript. Hence the errors. You can see that the names are spelled correctly in the titles on the video. Regardless, we've now fixed the RUclips chapters. Thanks ✌
@@MattBruntonUK Thanks a lot Matt for your work :) i have been studying history of design and it helped me a lot. I started doing this after i watched flux video, where Ran talked about this topic of getting good mix of inspiration. Again big kuddos to you :)
@@MattBruntonUK I told my wife that you must be close to Manchester based on the accent and in one of your videos your confirmed it lol. I watch the Premier League and have familiarized myself with that accent more or less. Also, I really enjoy the way you narrate. Give us more 💪🇿🇦
3:00 Non-political . . . Hmmmm. You're not the only one.
Love to see a guy talk about something he's really passionate about. Great stuff dude
The proper use of Helvetica and Bodoni (or Bodoni and Helvetica) can solve like 90% of all design briefings :D
Love your videos, love the style, the humility
Your love of this subject exudes from your pres. If you haven't already done so I would like a pres on Bauhaus graphic design.
Thanks Dan. Good suggestion.

Fair point. Everything is political but I can appreciate what they were trying to say within the historical context.
this is a great series, i would love to hear more about the history of graphic design!
