I travel overseas by air extensively, but I still use my passport card constantly! The passport card is the best ID to show when flying domestically (to airline agents and TSA). The passport card proves identity and citizenship, but it does NOT have your home address, organ donor status, or other personal information that you might not want to reveal to airport staff or have compromised/stolen. Also, by showing your passport card, you keep your other IDs safely tucked away. If you lose your passport card, just apply for a new one after your trip. However, if you lose your driver license or passport book, you are in for much more headaches to replace them overseas, and in the meantime you cannot drive if you lose your license!
Great points! Thanks for sharing, Eliot. 😊
Excellent information! Thank you Eliot. Safe travels!
I concur....
Would it be useful for a pocket id for alcohol and leave my passport at home? I was surprised at how many places in Mexico City carded me and wanted my passport and would not accept a Texas ID. I was in my 30s too!
In Shanghai, I thought it would have been useful at least, so I wouldn't have to carry my passport.
@@lazyoldtexassun Many US states also won't accept other States ID/Licenses for purchasing alcohol or smokes or anything else that is age restricted. The state I am in requires the the ID to be issued by either this state or a bordering state.
I live in San Diego so the passport card is a must since Mexico is 20 miles away from my home
Yeah, that makes sense. So much easier than carrying a passport. 👍
I did buy my passport from
Wait if you have a passport card and let’s say you go to Tijuana. Can you enter with your passport card
Yes, it is designed for land border crossings between the US and Mexico.
Can you enter back into the US quicker on foot with a Passport Card? (EDIT: Yes, you can. Just go to a Ready Lane)
I personally got my passport stolen. It was a major pain in my ass!!! At the time I didn't have a passport card. I now just applied for my new passport book and without a question I payed the $30 for the card as well as normal passport. It's invaluable to have an id similar to a passport in which most people want to see, instead of carrying around your book (Note: passport book should be protected with extreme care) Having a passport card you have some proof on citizenship and most likely will not get harassed. I think having a card is no doubt worth it.
Sorry to hear about your stolen passport. That must have been so stressful! 😬
Greg: Well expressed from experience. It's a great form of domestic identification for many purposes. Thirty U.S. dollars is very reasonable for this.
It is best not to be penny wise and pound --- (or dollar) foolish. Well done.
Yeap I agree. I also have both.
I live on the southern border, so yes, I have a passport card. It makes life easier. I use the book for international flights.
Yeah, I can see how that would be useful. Thanks for sharing! 👍
that was a great idea - keeping a photo file of your passport in your email & that’s what I just did, thank you & I subscribed 😊
Thanks! Glad the video was helpful. 😊
I have one, but have never used it. I carry it as a secondary ID.
Yeah, that seems to be the case for a lot of people (including myself). Thanks for sharing! 😊
I’m never carrying my passport card around with me if I’m not traveling. Don’t even carry your SS card around either.
Celso
@@musicgirl999 social never but passport card really doesn’t have anything a drivers license doesn’t already have.
I'm getting a passport card along with the regular passport book as a backup in case the passport book is lost or stolen. That way when I'm in the Philippines or some other country, I can get into the US Embassy and get a replacement passport book that much easier. I used to just make copies of the passport book.
Sounds like a good backup strategy! 👍
I have a question ..Can i apply for a passport card even i still have my unexpired U.S PASSPORT BOOK??
YEAP! GREAT THINKING.
I use my passport card to cross between the United States and Mexico routinely, often for work or for vacation. I always keep my passport book with me but packed away. I was told by a US border agent that the card is not good to identify myself with an official other than a US border agent. So, if I needed to identify myself to a Mexican official I would need to show my passport book. The passport card is very convenient to carry in my wallet when traveling across a land border crossing.
Yeah, that passport card is a great alternative ID. It meets the REAL ID regulations as well. 👍
It's a cheap add-on when you're renewing the book, so it's worth it to me. My CA driver's license doesn't expire for a few years, but it's not a real ID, but I also don't want to carry around my passport book just to board a domestic flight.
For sure! It's definitely worth having some redundancy in REAL IDs too. 👍
Btw, are you also a UCLA Bruin? I'm one as well. 😎
Yep, I'm about to get a passport card with my passport book renewal. I believe the card will be very helpful on domestic flights since it is Real ID compliant. My current license from State of TX was issued in November 2015 and I am supposed to renew it in November 2021. Unfortunately the TX DMV started issuing Real ID licenses in October 2016, just 11 months after I got my current license. So I'm looking at October 2020 to November 2021 where my current license will not allow me to get on domestic flights. Passport card solves it!
I have a passport card. In fact, I just renewed it and got the new one (and the old one, now cancelled). I've used it to pass the US-Canadian border and to check in at hotels while abroad, but mostly I like to have it as a back-up form of ID and proof of citizenship.
Sounds like you're getting good use of your passport card. 👍
I am a flight attendant. I use my passport card at KCM (Known Crew Member). It is much handier than having to pull out a passport book.
I'm jealous! That sounds like an amazingly useful and valuable ID for travel. 😎
I think the Passport card is most useful for people who live in border cities, which I do not (Seattle, Detroit, San Diego, El Paso, Buffalo, etc...). Yes I have one, and will only finally use it for the first time next month in MXC. Go Rams!
Nice! Hope you have a great trip to Mexico City. 😊
I have both the passport book and card. Traveling by car between Canada and US the card is convenient. When traveling by air in the US I use the card at airports and with the current political climate, it proves citizenship. Traveling outside the US and Canada, I keep the passport card on me as well as a copy the passport book. I also take a photo of any entry stamp(s) for the country I am, if needed before I am able to provide the actual passport book.
Sounds like you're getting good use of your passport card! 👍
This was really helpful. For only 30 bucks I'll go ahead and apply for it. If it were more, than I think I would bypass. But I think its a good option for extra documentation access. Thanks again for the breakdown. very helpful.
Awesome. I'm glad to hear that the video was helpful! 👍
I think the passport card is going to be very nice to have for DOMESTIC flights when the Real ID stuff becomes effective in October 2020. My current drivers license was issued in November 2015 and my state began issuing Real ID licenses in October 2016. Having a wallet size passport card from the Federal government that is Real ID compliant is a nice way to get around the Real ID crap at the state level. Passport card is good for 10 years. $30 seems like a good deal to help deal with all the Real ID stuff on domestic flights for the next decade.
I agree! I honestly think they should have standardized the license requirements years ago. I suspect that a lot of people are going to be confused when they implement the new rules in Oct 2020. 😬
My Real ID costed 30 bucks and it’s a drivers license too so it’s a win win
I carry my passport card with me everyday in my wallet with my driver's license, is that a good idea?
@@BlackInIsraelyes it is I do the same thing so I can use it as an secondary I.D. if needed for something
I think passport cards are needed...especially for kids under the age of 18....they can use it if they don't state i.d e.g driver's license or permit and it could be used as proof of citizenship when applying for a state i.d!!!!...also traveling domestically they can show the passport card at gate areas
That makes sense! It’s definitely a good alternative for those without a driver’s license. 👍
When I renewed my passport book a few years ago, I also got the passport card. At the time, the price was around $30-$35 for a new card. I’m not sure if I would pay $65 for a new one now. I use it mainly as a secondary ID, but I’ve used it once to cross a land border. I heard that having a passport card can make the process of obtaining a replacement passport book from a U.S. consulate/embassy easier, but I have never had to try this! In any case, I would make color photocopies of the passport book and carry those.
It is still $30 for 10 years
you didnt have to pay a new card price when you do a renewal for your book. you get only charged the $30 renewal price
I have both - the passport card works great for filing the Form I-9 employment form
That's true. It's a good REAL ID alternative as well. 👍
I personally believe that the best thing to have if you're going to fly within the country is a passport card or a passport book they are more powerful than the real id license.
I have both the passport book and passport card. I use the passport card when I travel domestically. And when I go to Canada it's a great piece of I'd it will get me farther than the real id license.
I agree! The Passport Card is a great alternative to a REAL ID driver's license or state ID. 👍
That is correct!
I just ended up getting both. Way more convenient using the card when going to British Columbia.
That definitely makes sense! 👍
I have both a passport card and book, the card came in handy for employment and local travel in the US.
Good point. The passport card is a great official ID. It's even REAL ID compliant, which makes it handy for US domestic travel. 😎
yep.. passport card is very convenient for me since i live 2 hours from the border
Yeah, it's definitely useful if you're going over the border often. 👍
i say get the passport card if you fly domestic and have not got a real id yet. getting a real id is such a pain with the dmv and its only good for 5 years with extra paperwork needed. a passport card is 10 years and only $30 for a renewal.
That's a good point! Getting a real-ID driver's license can be a pain. 👍
I live in Los Angeles, so I got both a passport book and a passport card. I plan on using my passport card when I drive to Tijuana, Mexico.
That makes sense! It's definitely much easier to carry when crossing the border. 👍
I renewed my passport and ordered the passport card as well. I like the idea if a secondary ID, without my personal info on it. I did not have a card previously, just the book. I also like the idea of both a printed copy in my wallet, and a digital copy in the cloud. This way, if I lose my passport (god forbid) I can replace it more easily. Great video and explanation!
That makes sense! Having another form of official ID is helpful. 👍
My husband and I have both the book and the card. Due to the current U.S. political climate we got the cards strictly to be able to prove our citizenship within the U.S. Even though we were both born here, and my husband is white, we don't want to take any chances. I've been recommending to my friends and family to do the same.
It's terrible that we even have to think about these things. We've also had a lot of horrible and offensive comments come through in the last year, and it makes me sick. I try to filter them out, but I wish RUclips had a more effective way of reporting offensive racist and derogatory comments. 😬
Okay so this is why I am getting a passport card too.
Yes the card will be an extra form of id in any event
Not sure what your husband being white has to do with anything...
I mean wouldn't a birth certificate prove that??
Hello! I have a passport card and I use it EVERY WEEKEND traveling to Ciudad Juárez from El Paso TX where I live. When crossing the border with a passport card you may use the ready lane , that only card holders can use. Because you can scan your card before speaking with a customs agent. The line is a little longer sometimes but goes by A LOT faster then the all traffic lane in my opinion
That's awesome. Sounds like you're getting a lot of value from the passport card. It definitely makes a lot of sense for your use case. 👍
@@TripAstute Anyone traveling over a land border I would highly recommend. A person like me who does it everyday would benefit upgrading to the SENTRI card. Maybe a future video😉
do they give you a hard time with just the card because I just got one and I thought about leaving it at home but they might give me a hard time
I plan to obtain one upon my renewal this August 2020!!!
I think its worth it. You can use it to travel domestically since it is ID and Proof of Citizenship, whilst sometimes with a DL or State ID, TSA can get very skeptical.
That's a good point. I used mine the last time I started a new job and it was very handy. 👍
I have a driver's license that will soon not be accepted anymore to enter federal buildings. They say I should renew my license early just to get a REAL ID.
But with the passport card I don't have to renew my license early; I just use the passport card instead. It was well worth the few extra dollars I paid when I got the book to get the card as well.
I had an incident a few years ago where somebody asked me for a government ID and then when I gave them the passport card instead of the state driver's license they were expecting they said, "Where's your driver's license?" as if to imply the passport card wasn't good enough.
Since I was walking not driving and they didn't need to see a license, my response was, "This is FEDERAL, it's issued by the federal government. That means they scrutinized me more than they do for just a license."
The other person's response was "There's no address on it." I said, "Exactly. I never give out the address where I lay my head at night anyway. You asked for a government ID, I gave you one. It has a magnetic strip just like the driver's license."
The only thing they could manage to say after that was "Oh."
But just like I told them, I never give out the address where I lay my head at night; you never know who might decide to scam you or do you some other kind of harm. It's just not a good idea these days because you just never know.
It’s a good point. The passport card is much safer in that regard! 👍
I renewed my passport and applied for my passport card
👍
How long did it take for it to come in the mail after renewl????
Another great topic, thank you Ernest ! Love you channel have a great weekend bro
Jose
Thanks Jose! Hope you had a great weekend too. 😊
Informative video, thanks 👍
Thank you! Glad the video was helpful. 😊
I don't have a driver's license and likely won't get one anytime soon as I'm going to a college in a big city where driving doesn't really make any sense so that's why I'm getting a passport card.
That makes sense. That is a great use case for a passport card outside of traveling.
I decided to get a passport & passport card just to use as alternate ID for when I renew my driver's license (the state where I live takes your old driver's license and issues a temporary cardboard license which can only be used for driving purposes, not ID).
That makes sense! The passport card is a great ID to carry.
Thank you for this video. I don't travel internationally but keep a passport as I once had it save the day when my Drivers License was stolen while on a trip. I was able to have a friend mail me my passport for my return flight home. Now I always pack my passport as back up (yes i know there are other ways to verify identity in a pinch but this is so much faster/easier) I will definitely be getting the passport card instead next time I am up for renewal to save money.
Thanks! I appreciate you checking out our video and channel. 😊
It can save you MONEY! I’m getting one with my new PassPort for an extra $60; so I don’t have to pay the State of AZ extra $$ for the “enhanced” ID to fly domestically... Plus it saves me at least a half day’s work by not having to fill out forms and go to the DMV.... The enhanced here in AZ is $25 a year; so I save $190 over the 10 year life of the card... As you mentioned it does depend on your specific situation; for mine the Card makes sense and Dollars... No pun intended...
Good point! The wait time at the DMV can be very costly, especially in terms of time. 👍
Some states have an Enhanced ID that has the same privileges as a Passport Card. The advantage is you can get it while you are going to get state ID/drivers license. I had one but didn't feel like paying for renewal. My classmates were nervous it wouldn't be accepted at the border but it was, no problem.
Good tip. Thanks for sharing! 👍
This helps a lot, I’m moving a half mile from the Canadian boarder so I’ll definitely need one.
Awesome. Glad the video was helpful. The passport card sounds like a perfect solution for you. 👍
Found this video, I have an appointment Monday to get a passport, I haven't left the United States since 2008. I was only going to get it because I'm only a few hour drive from the Canadian Border. I have had a passport but it expired 9 years ago so it isn't eligible for renewal and I only needed it once and showed it at the Canadian Border a few times, before it was required. because I'm considering the cost of a family of 5, the cost savings between the cards and passports are substantial.
That makes sense, especially if the passport card meets your needs. It can definitely save money, especially for a family of five. 👍
I just renewed my passport and also got the card because I'm a trucker, and I would only use the card to Canada for deliveries anyway.
If you're crossing regularly into Canada, then it's definitely worth getting the passport card. 👍
I have a passport card, but I've never used it. I carry it just in case. I like to be prepared. I figure if I lost my passport, the passport card might help me to get a replacement quicker.
I always wondered about that as well (i.e., would it help to have a passport card if trying to get a replacement passport book while traveling). I wish I knew the answer!
yeap!!🙌
I pay $212 dollars for passport book that's includes expedite in less than a month .The only good thing for ID passport it's an additional identification card which I like .
Having that extra ID can be handy, especially with the REAL-ID laws going in effect next year. 👍
So i wonder if I can use the passport Card to fly DOMESTICALLY?? Since its Real ID compliant
Yes, it can be used for as your ID for domestic flights. 👍
Nice video 😊👍 from where I am from we just use our ID card for domestic flights
Thanks! 😊
Thank God! Puerto Rico is USA and is an exception. Too many people suffer this problems that is good to memorized all id numbers even birth certificate numbers.
I'm curious to see whether Puerto Rico becomes a state soon. I know it's being debated, so it will be interesting to see. 🙂
they can be helpful when replacing a lost passport book.
That's a good point! 👍
Thanks for this video bro. Very helpful.
Thanks for checking out our video and channel. Glad to hear that the video was helpful! 👍
I drive to Tijuana often. So the card is convinent for me.
That definitely makes sense. The passport card is super useful for driving trips to Mexico. 😎
Thank you for the video. It helped clarify some questions I had.
Awesome. I’m glad to hear that the video was helpful. 😊
I just got one because why not? I just ordered it anyway. Also it’s a cool looking card.
It's definitely a cool looking ID card! 😎
I love this video. Great information. Thanks!
Thank you! Glad the video was helpful. 😊
It's useful like you say for land border crossings like San Ysidro Tijuana and Detroit Windsor
I agree! 👍
I have bad luck I got both, in case one of them gets lost I have the other as a back up. For a few bucks more if you’re ever in a jam you’ll be glad you have it. Also if you live in a state that hasn’t met real ID compliance it will get you on a plane without a problem. I live in PA and they just keep pushing the deadline back so I’m not even gonna deal with that.
That's a good point. Having that spare ID that happens to also be REAL ID compliant is helpful! 👍
Right? Shoo. Ok, I decided to go ahead and just purchase the two, passport book and card, they're both obviously; important. Yea, they should have card books and get with it and just make little stampers, on a little card book or something like that. Take care.
I honestly want to get a passport card so that I can leave my passport at home if I travel to a country where I can drive across the border or on a cruise.
It might be worth getting if you travel the way often! 👍
Thanks for the info, bro
My pleasure. Thanks for checking out our video and channel. 👍
I did my passport application as a foreign US national not a US citizen but a state citizen Republic of the several States my nationality is I am a michiganian born in Michigan.
I recommend getting both especially with this nonsense with the Real ID. I carry my driver’s license and my passport card with me everyday. When I travel my passport and Passport card are with me.
That definitely makes sense. It's always handy to have that extra ID, especially since it's REAL ID compliant. 👍
Good info concerning the Passport Card...I probably won't be getting one next time I renew my passport.
Thanks. Glad the video was helpful! 👍
The only ID Card for Americans only that says Nationality U.S.A. is the Passport Card, i would get one just for that, i see most Countries like Mexico, Spain and others offer an ID Card that's only for their citizens and the ID Card says the Nationality of the person, To me a Passport Card is the same as that ID
That makes sense. The fact that it's more portable (i.e., fits in a wallet) than a passport makes it versatile as well. 👍
In Michigan we have Enhanced Drivers Licenses and IDs that is like having a Passport Card. Michigan being next to Canada can have that.
Very cool. I wish we had the option of an Enhanced Drivers License in California. 😎
The passport card is really good especially in San Ysidro Tijuana and Detroit Windsor.
That's true! It is definitely useful for those border trips. 👍
@@TripAstute I have both and kinda staggered them so I always have a Passport. My Passport Card Expires in November 2025 my Passport Book expires in June 2027. I found doing it this way makes sure I always have a Valid Passport since both are good for Ten Years.
Gosh, I wished, the passport books, was formed in a card, would be so much easier to carry around.
Me too! The passport book seems like such an outdated design. I know people love getting stamps, but I'd rather have a smaller card that fits in my wallet. 😄
The passport card is REAL ID compliant
Very true! 👍
I am from Puerto Rico, and I want to go to a state I can leave my passport at home and use my passport card to enter any state?
It depends on how you are traveling into the US. If it's through an airport, then you will need to bring your passport book. The passport card is only meant for travel over certain ports and land crossings (e.g., US and Mexico/Canada).
Not relevant to me as I'm not a US citizen, but one thought occurs to me based on my experience on cruises (in Europe). It may be the case that the traveller's plans might be to only travel by land or sea, in which case a Passport Card would suffice. But what about the possibility of a significant problem that requires the trip to be cut short, perhaps because of illness or injury to the traveller, or perhaps a problem back home that requires an immediate and fast return? As I understand it, only having a Passport Card would prevent the traveller from returning home by air in that situation; they'd have stay on the ship (possibly for days!) or return by land, if possible. I've occasionally seen cruise passengers in Europe have to urgently return to the UK by air, for example.
That's a great point! It's always better to be prepared for those types of situations. I definitely think it's worth carrying a regular passport book to be safe! 👍
No one is a U.S CITIZEN....
Great video! So for me it would only be about 30% useful & is just another way for the Gov to get more money out of me. Got it. Lol.
Yeah, for most people, it's probably not worth the extra money for the Passport Card.
There are a few times when I have been asked for a second form of ID. I think it is good option.
That's a good point. The passport card works well as a second form of ID. 👍
Thank you so much for your wisdom, I will save money. I don’t need a passport card
Awesome. Glad the video was helpful. 👍
(July-13-2021)
I'd say you do. Its an excellent form of identification. I would suggest to use that more than your regular drivers license.
I am a resident of California and was once pulled over in Maricopa County, AZ and the sheriff wanted proof of citizenship, so I merely pulled out my passport card, he said, "thank you" and I went on my way. This was when Joe Arpaio was in charge. It does come in handy when the situation warrants it. Yes, you do have rights, but the powers that be can exercise powers which you can't so be careful out there.
That's a great point. Having it as an official ID in your wallet could be extremely useful, especially in that sort of situation. 👍
I think the card would be nice for I9 form for job hunting
Yes, that's a great point. I used it the last time I switched jobs and it was very convenient. 👍
I always thought a passport card serves as an ID card if required to carry one while abroad. Use the passport book to enter and leave a country and the card as ID if required to have one on you constantly while abroad or to check in for a domestic flight within another country.
I used it that way as well (or carry a photocopy of my passport in my wallet). I think most countries officially require visitors to carry their passport with them at all times, but I haven't seen that enforced during my travels. Though it may be better to err on the safe side!
Required as 2nd id when getting a job.
Yeah, it can definitely be used for that purpose. 👍
So you're saying, if I was in Madrid for instance, and a police officer stopped me and asked for I.D., he would accept a photocopy of my passport instead of the actual passport? And he would also accept a passport card rather than the actual passport?
Not necessarily. It’s calculated risk. I’m more worried about having my passport stolen. It really depends on where I’m traveling. In Madrid, I’d probably feel ok about leaving my passport in a secure place. Though in other places where there might be more police corruption, I might be more inclined to carry all my documentation on me.
@@TripAstute I've always found that my passport and money are safe when I carry them in my money belt, which fits around my waist, and inside of my belt.
I didn't find the police in Madrid to be corrupt, though I did find them to be somewhat aggressive, and I had a few interactions with them.
Very informative
Thanks! Glad the video was helpful. 😊
If it’s not either/or and depending on the $$ I would get the card but in your list of countries accepting it I always just carry a regular photocopy of my passport folded into my wallet and the copalikes don’t seem to care when I show it to them but boy it could ruin your road-trip big time!
Yeah, I've heard stories of people only carrying only their passport cards on cruises, only to get stuck when needing to leave via air due an unforeseen circumstance. 😬
Passport cards take place of the real ID on domestic flights
That is true. You can also use a Global Entry card since it is classified as a REAL ID. 👍
I used my passport card instead of Id. just so I want to show off my citizenship to those who asked me. the perception immediately changed and so the attitudes are too.
It's definitely a useful spare ID, especially with all the new federal REAL ID requirements in the US. 👍
Indeed I just got my citizenship it’s a good way to show I’m American since I have an accent people may think I’m just on visa or permanent resident
@@lukman534 Congratulations on getting your citizenship! 😎🎉
It seems like a fancier driver's license or state ID. The more I read about the passport card the more it feels kind of pointless.
Yeah, unless you plan to make border crossings often, it's probably unnecessary. Though it is useful as a secondary official ID.
Very good insight
Thanks! Glad the video was helpful. 😊
Those are good when you get a driver's license.
Thanks. Good info
Thanks for the feedback. Glad the video was helpful. 👍
Can a child under 16 travel by land to Mexico with only birth certificate and expired passport?
Technically, I believe you still need a passport (or passport card).
for real a passport card is not important. But guess what I just applied for one today, because I want it. I think it's cool to carry
😎👍
Okay i just apply for my own and it has already been delivery to me, i order from Glasco +14705885155
Great video
Thanks! I appreciate the feedback. 😊
It sounds like a silly reason, but when I renewed my passport I figured I'm already paying, might as well get a passport card. Especally living on the Mexico border. Probably wont use it but meh. Better to get it than not.
That's definitely not a bad reason at all, especially when you live next to the border. 👍
Is everyone's passport status, us citizen or does anyone have American National/ state Citizen status?
It's a good question. The US issues passports to non-citizen nationals, but it's a rare population. The ones that come to mind are those that live in US territories that aren't classified as citizens (like American Samoa).
If you travel a lot I think the passport card is good but if you don't it's just a complete waste of money. I recently lost my driver's license and the DMV doesn't even recognize it as equal to a passport or even a non-drivers ID it's basically useless even the banks don't see it on the same level as an actual passport or non-driver's ID so like I said less you do a lot of traveling save your money or get an enhanced driver's license I think that might even be better but I'm not sure..
Yeah, I feel the same way. I honestly don't think it's worth the money unless you live near the borders and are traveling in and out a lot.
Even when I had one, I still carried a copy of my passport when I was traveling and walking around since I wasn't sure if anyone would recognize it as a valid ID or passport.
It's worth The Cost These Days ( BIG Brother watching and All ) ... I have a Passport.. the passport I.D. is more Practical Everywhere Stateside and as you've stated living close to Borders ... I want to apply for a Passport I. D.
I completely agree. It's always handy to have another official ID to use. 👍
A passport card is good for flying between any USA member states. That is a lot of states.
Yes, that's correct. Though you don't need a passport or passport card to travel domestically in the US. You only need it for international travel. 😊
In October 2020, a lot of us will need our passport book or passport card to travel domestically...unless we go ahead and pay AGAIN at the state level for yet another drivers license. I have a license issued in November 2015 that is supposed to be good until November 2021, but it will not get me through TSA Security beginning in October 2020.
I lost my passport card , where can I report it lost or stolen ?
& how do I reapply for a replacement?
Please help & ty in advance
Hi Shack! Did you get it resolved? If not, you should be able to report it via the State Department website: travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/after/lost-stolen.html
Also, if you need a passport replacement soon, check out our video on it from a few weeks back. I actually lost mine and was able to get a new one in less than 24 hours. 😊
Ty Ernest big help 👍
Will follow link & fill out the form .
Your videos are soooo helpful ⭐️
I’m going to South Korea soon. Do I need a passport card or just the book?
You definitely need a passport book. The passport card is only useful for limited travel like border crossings.
I believe the passport card is important in case if the ICE Police stopped you somewhere in USA and you have to a proof you are legal person in United States.
It's sad that we have to even consider that factor when deciding to get a passport card! 😬
Trip Astute This is the law and we must respect the law and there is no problem to be careful and we use the passport card
Since I live in Washington state (one of the five states that issue enhanced driver's licenses), a passport card is not necessary for land or sea travel.
Very cool! Wish we had the enhanced driver's license here in California. 👍
Hello, what password manager are you using for your iPhone? I like how it’s so organized. Thanks
I use 1Password. I've had it for years and I really like it. 👍
Thank you!
Thank You

I HAVE BOTH BUT A FRIEND OF MINE TOLD ME SHE USES PASSPORT BOOK CAUSE BORDER CUSTOMS DONT ASK SO MANY QUESTION WITH THE BOOK SO I DESIDED TO USE THE BOOKLET FOR AVOID QUESTIONS
I got my passport book last summer and a REAL-ID compliant driver's license last fall. I don't think I need a passport card.
Yes, you should be good to go. 👍
