Thanks for such an enjoyable ride. It sure was nice seeing other riders having fun on such a nice day. A great change... from your frozen northern neighbors.
I've enjoyed watching all of your videos!! You do such a fantastic job filming and narrating. So glad I subscribed! Hope you have many more to come. Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you so much! I hope to continue as well and have many videos on the list still to make. This is something I do just for fun and don't make any money but I am finding it rewarding.
Such an excellent trail, Sylvia. I am so impressed how bike/trike friendly communities are in western USA. Here in Pa., our rail trail and Northwest River Trail are developing. Each year we seem to be getting a bit more connected. The e-assist recumbent trikes have definitely taken off over the last few years. In fact, after my last knee replacement (2019), I was in the market for one. And I appreciate my e-assist so much. I always enjoy your drone footage. Thank you getting the drone out for the beautiful scenery. Keep on Triking!
I will definitely add Tuscon to my list of places to go for the bike trail. My parents lived in Phoenix for 20 years which I think is a little warmer than Tuscon and the latest I would visit was Spring Training where it would pretty much be 95 every day while Tuscon is still nice for a month or two.
Yes, cities in Arizona have different temps. I think the area around Pheonix can get snow in the winter. Tucson is a bit cooler in the summer than other cities but still very hot.
Does look like a very nice ride. That tar they filled the cracks will, will get really nasty in the summer when the temps heat up. I'm still stuck inside, cold and snow, and wind. If I can just make it to April :) Stay safe.
Beautiful scenery as always. I like knowing what everyone is riding. It seems e assist has become more and more popular. I haven't gotten a trike yet but my choices have narrowed down.😊
@@TravelsByTrike Yes there really seems to be more safe paths to ride than riding on the road. DFW are is working on a 66 mile trail system from Fort Worth to Dallas. Hopefully in the next several years it'll be completed 🤞
Thanks for getting details of the various trikes. It would be interesting to see how people transport places with their trikes, for instance trailer or back of vehicle?
You should get the Tucson Recumbent Cycling page on FB. I'll be back early April to camp in the Saguaro National Park and do some more riding. Will you be around then?
A great trail. Not sure if it is connected to the trail system just outside of Catalina State Park or not. We loved it. Rode our bikes from the campground to the trail. Catalina is a wonderful State Park. Looking forward to returning someday and riding it on my Catrike.
I noticed on your basket a netting is that a cargo netting, how well do they work thinking about getting some for my basket as well. also to use with my bucket panniers.
I bought the basket because I'm thinking of getting a cat and I want to cat to ride with me on the trike. The cargo netting would keep the cat more secure. I would also get a harness and leash. Now that I have the basket - I really like it for carrying all kinds of things.
Hi Sylvia, I really enjoy your videos. I noticed at the beginning of the Tuscon Loop video a side bag on your friend Edna's Scorpion and wondered if you could find out what type of bag it is. My wife and I are in the process of ordering a pair of scorpion fs with 20 inch wheels and would prefer a side bag instead of a rack with panniers . While I have you I thought I would ask a couple of questions about your experience with the Scorpion. I would like to know if you find any discomfort in your neck with the seat angle and if the height of the bottom bracket above the seat height causes any numbness in your feet. Thanks in advance, Bob Currie
Thanks, Bob! I think Edna uses an Arkel handlebar bag. T-cycle carries the mounts and bags. HP makes the seat mount bars. I only use one bar and bag but you can have one on each side of the seat. With a neck rest you should have no discomfort. I’ll be doing a video soon about the pedals and straps I use. This is personal and I find pedal straps give me less foot/toe numbness than SPD clips. Congrats on your new Scorpions-you will love them!!
@@beerman1957 I'm guessing the only elevation I encountered was going under the overpasses and back up. I'm looking forward to taking the loop to Catalina State Park.
Thanks, Bruce - I just bought a Garmin and I'll be able to keep track of miles ridden easier. I had been using an iphone app but I almost always forget to turn it on, bah!
I always have the rear fender on but don't always use the front fenders especially when I'm in places where it isn't raining. I would use them if I was touring but now I rarely ride in wet weather. The HP fenders are expensive and I'm trying to make them last longer.
Beautiful ride on a super trail with good friends. It seems as if all of your acquaintances are using e assist now. Is that a proper conclusion? Are you using it full time on those trails that seem to have negligible grade variants?
@@TravelsByTrike ….I also own and occasionally ride my Sun EZ Sport lwb recumbent. It is heavy and clumsy but very fast on the flats. Very large turning radius and impossible to climb grades with it. If one stops on a hill it is impossible to get started from a standstill. Adding 15-20 pounds of weight to an already clumsy bike is probably the reason people don’t use e assist on them. I know Cruzbike is making a model with a built in e assist on its short wheelbase bikes. I find that riding the LWB bike requires a lot more diligence and is a lot less relaxing and very hard to ride here in a hilly area. It’s fast as hell on the flats but so much less stable. I have tried for 3 years to sell it(it’s in mint condition) personally and through several bike shops and it gets zero interest.i will take my trikes any day over it. All the weight and balance issues with a battery and motor would make them difficult to ride.
Sylvia, That is a most impressive trail. I will make an opportunity to go there just to ride the entire loop. What months do you suggest would be the best weather (not too hot and not too cold) window? Thanks and I'm looking forward to more of your rides in this area. Be well and stay safe, bf

No, here thru March 17th.
Sylvia,
One more question came to mind. What is elevation change around the loop and the high point and low points..(yes, that was 3 not 1)
BWSS,
bf
The loop is smooth with very little elevation changes.
The elevation can change about 1500 feet depending on the direction you go. For example, the Loop goes north to Catalina State Park
@@beerman1957 I'm guessing the only elevation I encountered was going under the overpasses and back up. I'm looking forward to taking the loop to Catalina State Park.
Maybe the travelog could include mention of miles ridden, either rt or one way. I guess I could estimate mileage after locating a map.

Yes, all the trikes have e-assist but, usually, the 2-wheel recumbents don't. I guess it's a different mind-set?
