I was in this concert, it was on Hamburg 12.09.24. He played it after the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto. Before playing this piece, he said he has not practiced it in a long time and this is the first in quite some time he is performing it again. The people in the audience had a good time, he got standing ovation.

This is ABSURD. As a profesional violinist I can tell you ANYONE can fail anytime... Ray chen is not even my favorite violinist or in my top 50 but is a world class soloist for sure. It doesnt mean he has to play perfect or in tune always. I saw the best in the world fail badly live, Zimerman, Jansen, kavakos, batiashvili... All are human and posting this pointing it like something he must regret is bad taste.

ray chen has literally declined. If you watch his previous concerto, and then watch the new one, you see worse playing. My favourite and least favourite version of the tchaikovsky violin concerto is both by Ray chen. His Seattle performance of the tchaikovsky was amazing (string break one) yet the one he did recently was sooo bad ive seen 15 year olds play it better than he did.
Same with sibelius. His 2015 was perfect and his 2021 sibelius was okay but not as good.

He seems to care more about being an entertainer than being one of the great violinsts these days. But that's just a hot take, I love Rays playing, but you can't not see this.

It is normal to comment on that. However it is not normal to make a serious of videos with that single observation about single musician.
Even more, it is possible that musician had some other concert where he improved himself. Does the video author listen every Chen's concert around the world?

Since Ray cares about being a makeshift kpop star more than a violinist, he should just retire and focus on his yt channel. Right now he doesnt practice and only does social media but still tries to perform as a professional violinist and does shitty playing. You cant be a world class player and a social media star. Theres a reason why every other great violin player doesnt run multiple social media pages.

Plus, I saw him live last year with the TSO and personally, he sounded amazing to me. Granted, I play the clarinet in two youth orchestras, so I obviously would not have the best comment regarding a violin concerto, however people still enjoyed the concert.
Stop being so critical, and if you're going to continue to do so, then be critical of yourself. He is a better player than you.
