Everything Columbus did, all of his great adventures, discoveries, sacrifices, and allegiance was to the Spanish. Columbus was surrounded by Spanish sailors, spoke Spanish, he's buried in Spain, and sailed on three Spanis ships, La niña, La Pinta y Santa María. Of all the variations of his name, he prefer the Spanish one: Cristóbal Colón. -- Cristóbal, is a son of Spain, all the other countries turned him down, Portugal, France, all rejected his idea. Only the Spanish took him seriously and went with him across the ocean.

You people do know it was Spain that landed in the America's right not Italy? Columbus came claiming the land for his Queen Isabel, Queen of Castilla Spain . It's a Hispanic day, not a Italian day, and it was on the 12th not the 10th 🤦🏻‍♂️. The U.S works hard to dumb down its people and making history up as usual. Spain discovered America not Italy. In Spain and Latin AMERICA it's celebrated as El DIA de la Hispanidad. Italy does not celebrate this holiday. They don't recognize it. Another make Americans believe BS. And in any case it is not a day that should be celebrated. Millions of humans died because of this day. The America's wear not discovered on October 12 by Spain ether. The locals were already here for thousands of years. This are facts

Sorry: Niente toglie al grande visionario navigatore. Lui e' andato a chiedere i soldi a vari regnanti.

Why do we Americans observe Christopher Columbus when we should really be observing the Viking Leif Eriksson. He actually landed on the continent of North America 492 years before Columbus. Therefore if anyone is to be observed for "discovering" America I think it should be Leif Eriksson 🇮🇸🇧🇻

Celebrations of Columbus gained momentum as Italian immigration grew from a trickle to a flood. Beginning in the 1880s, Italian immigrants began pouring into the U.S. in search of opportunity and a better life. But the new arrivals were not welcomed by all. Maligned as sinister and criminal, Italian immigrants were the focus of increasing bigotry.
In 1890 anti-Italian sentiment boiled over in New Orleans after police chief David Hennessy, reputed for his arrests of Italian Americans, was murdered. In the aftermath, more than a hundred Sicilian Americans were arrested. When nine were tried and acquitted in March 1891, a furious mob rioted and broke into the city prison, where they beat, shot, and hanged at least 11 Italian American prisoners. None of the rioters who lynched the Italian Americans were prosecuted. It remains one of the largest mass lynchings in the nation’s history.
Ah.. the good old days. Anyone see the parallels today’s immigration issue?
