  • A quick video testing a cheap ebay decat 'bend' pipe (cost £26 with free delivery from India). It took less than half an hour to fit and works a treat. It may be difficult to tell from the video but it does sound a little louder and more raspy.
    Not trying to Vlog or anything, just me messing about on my motorcycle and playing with recording gear etc. No talking just riding (I'm not one for talking).
    Bike mods: Pretty standard this one ...so far. Only has bar end mirrors and tank knee pads (came like that) and now with DNA filter. A couple of new relays and cleaned the rest ...I've also moved the gear lever up one spline. And now a Decat 'bend' pipe (not sure why it was called a bend pipe) and a single sided pannier.
    Recording Stuff: Insta 360 X3 (with motorcycle kit) (Camera World); Movo Wireless Mini Duo (for sound, Mounted under side panel); Ulanzi MT-58 1.21m Selfie Stick.

    I kept the Cat but changed the Silencer for a short Punjab with removable baffles.
    Got it at a knock down price as its got a small dent in the barrel .
    But as I refitted the heat shield you can't see it.
    £50 and sounds great with the baffle in.
    Without its like a reverse cone megger😎

    I’m thinking of the same on my meteor to go with the Indian RE branded silencer and air filter cover mod. The only thing that’s putting me off this far is people banging on about it running too hot and the fuelx part but don’t want to do that

    • @leighcoulson2148

      For the price, I thought I'd have a go with it. I haven't found any issues with overheating before or after fitting it ...in fact it the engine never seems to get that hot at all. I do have the standard silencer (but may change that some time) and the DNA air filter. I did fit a fuelX lite on my Continental as that was hot running but wasn't going to bother on the 350.

    Been thinking of fitting a decat pipe to my 350. For the price you paid it sounds a bargain, did the pipe come in black ? Also what pannier bags are you using and metal frames ? I have purchased a set of frames from India but the bags don't slip over them as the bracket is in a different place...I have done a video to explain.....Just subscribed Cheers 👍

      I got the decat pipe in black from an ebay seller 'dailydealsindia' (www.ebay.co.uk/itm/374372648961?itmmeta=01HTWFGCBBP4V1MW7WSVSV7EX3&hash=item572a594801:g:UpMAAOSwCMZjgGf1). However there were a few other sites had them. The single pannier and mounting frame came together from 'r0yal-parts', India (www.ebay.co.uk/itm/196148386243?itmmeta=01HTWFEXK6TJF3YPCDYBHZ4EKV&hash=item2dab5ad9c3:g:QBsAAOSw415lhwJD). @@Butlers_Bike_life You're welcome. It's very easy to fit ...but I had to remove (or in my case, destroy) the sealing ring between the header and decat section for the new decat pipe to fit. I had to use a bit of gasket paste to help seal the new pipe junction. However if you want to refit the original pipe, a new sealing ring costs about £15.

    • @Butlers_Bike_life
      @Butlers_Bike_life 2 месяца назад

      HI, did you reuse the metal ring seals or do they have not to be fitted to the decat . Thanks

    • @leighcoulson2148
      @leighcoulson2148  2 месяца назад +1

      @@Butlers_Bike_life Hello, the decat pipe wouldn't fit over the ring seal between the header pipe and the decat (it's more of a resin fibre material) and that's the only one I removed. The decat pipe was a little slack over the header pipe but clamped down ok with a layer of gasket sealant. I didn't have to do anything else on mine.

      No not proud. I have concerns and a little guilt. However the cat only reduces certain emisions to comply with specific legislation, overall I'm getting 100mpg, so producing less pollution overall than many other motorcycles and any car, barring electric (not taking into account environmental costs of producing electric vehicles)

      so you're a self righteous judger of other people's actions - Well Done then... (more obviously you've brought into the Climate change Globalist agenda cow crap..- CO2 is but 0.04% of the earths atmosphere - so maybe you can explain how that works ? While you're at it - maybe see how many coal powered generation plants China and India have - AND how many they're building year after year. When you've done that divide the outlet gasses of a modestly used m/c as a percentage of those power station output gasses and tell the whole Wold how mu the OP is polluting - please?

      @@leighcoulson2148 EFI makes motors run hot as Hades. Cooking the rider to death ☠️ also. And you are rationalizing it as well.A60 mpg motorcycle alone puts out 1/2 the pollution of a 30 MPG car w/ o any bullshit pollution controls. 1/2 the price of the RE350 is for pollution controls. In India they have such populations in cities that they have had to have pollution controls because so many are they. Between India and China they make 3/4 of the world pollution. In China you literally can't breathe the air. What ever you do amounts to a cup of 💦 to the sea. England would have to put it's whole population of the country in London to have Indian or Chinese levels of pollution.

    What's a decat pipe

    • @leighcoulson2148
      @leighcoulson2148  2 месяца назад

      It's the centre section of the exhaust which is basically straight through. The original centre section contains the catalytic convertor, which reduces emmisions but slightly restricts the exhaust gas flow.

      On the recording it doesn't sound significantly different, although I can still hear it (via my PC speakers or headphones). On the road it has a little more bark, although nothing too loud as the silencer and header are stock.
