    The Progressive Era in Forge of Empires
    The technology tree of the Progressive Era requires players to first develop all goods buildings. Fighters need these goods to produce the most important military technologies, armor plating and tracked vehicles. The related provinces with the necessary resource deposits can easily be conquered with units from the industrial age or be negotiated with goods from industrial age. But this will not speed up the advance in the technology tree. Most players trade the required goods to develop tanks before they make the step into this new era, enabling them to compete better in the guild expedition. Armored cars and tanks are the main military units of this era. To develop these technologies, the following goods are required:
    Traffic Lanes
    - 100 Tar
    - 180 Basalt
    Oil Refining
    - 110 Porcelain
    - 100 Rubber
    Then the goods from the progressive era:
    Automobiles
    - 50 Gasoline
    - 60 Machine Parts
    Armor Plating
    - 150 Tin Plate
    - 40 Gasoline
    Tracked Vehicles
    - 60 Explosives
    - 110 Machine Parts
    In Total
    - 90 Gasoline
    - 170 Machine Parts
    - 60 Explosives
    - 150 Tin Plate
    Once the tracked vehicles are developed a player has as much time as he/she wants to develop all remaining technologies. Most fights of the Progressive Era rely mainly on heavy and fast units.
    Tradespeople can plan their development completely different as they can spare out the technologies Automobiles, Armor Plating, Tracked Vehicles and Scoped Rifles completely. This saves 268 forge points and you can develop these technologies in case you want to stay in an Era but a quest requires you to develop a technology.
    Even some fighters do that as they conquer all provinces with units from the industrial age. They then get new units in the modern era and speed through progressive. This is not recommended for the guild expedition but a good method to speed through the Progressive Era and reach modern era as fast as possible. But this approach also has some disadvantages. For the future development it makes your gameplay much easier to get a huge stock of goods in the progressive era. Only those who have both, Ligthouse of Alexandria and Royal Albert Hall, on level 10 or above or those who want to keep the goods buildings of the Progressive Era until Contemporary Era will be able to pass the Contemporary Era without problems later, as then the goods from the Progressive Era will be required as unrefined goods to produce the refined goods of the Contemporary Era. For all others I highly recommend to have a stock of at least 4,000 goods. This takes time but reduces stress later on.
    For statistic purposes I want to mention how many resources are required for all technologies of the Progressive Era.
    1.430 Forge Points
    514.111 coins
    2.026.111 supplies
    LMA: 180 basalt, 210 brass, 150 silk, 240 talk powder, 160 gun powder
    Colo: 220 paper , 320 coffee, 250 wires , 380 porcelain, 320 tar
    Industrial: 260 rubber, 180 coke, 230 textiles, 220 whale oil, 275 fertilizer
    Progressive: 330 asbestos, 300 gasoline, 330 machine parts, 350 tinplate, 300 explosives
    The number of required resources grew a bit compared to the previous age, but this is a smaller increase than with previous ages. Players don't feel this so much as buildings produce much more coins and supplies than before.
    The progressive era is the last era that only needs coins and supplies to produce goods.
    Those who want to remain longer in the progressive era can invest their forge points in the great buildings of that era as both are very popular among players.
    Alcatraz is a must have for every fighter. The unattached units produced in this great building enable players to always have enough units for guild expedition and gvg with only a few military buildings. There is a dedicated video for the Alcatraz in this channel.
    Also the pro and con of the Chateau Frontenac is discussed in a separate video in this channel.
    With the great buildings of the progressive era InnoGames did very good as both are very popular among players.
    As with all added ages players receive two expansions each from the technology tree, with diamonds, and from provinces.
    While the expansions are in the lower part of the technology tree, the popular high-rises are in the upper part. Players have to set priorities what to research first.
    The first technology of the Progressive Era introduces the two lane roads. These result in a dramatic change of your city's structure. I only can recommend to accept this change very early as it makes your gameplay much easier. Don't try to make your way without them.
    As you might notice in the video, I position the high-rises to the two lane streets in a way so that one tile behind them is empty. For now I fill this wasted space with watch fires and victory towers. This is nit a must. It would have been possible to start the road accordingly. But knowing that the residential buildings of the next ages have a length of 4 tiles it is good to consider this already now.
    The progressive era provides a huge supply production, the cattle ranch. It takes more advantage than every other building from each motivation. But for most players t is not a simple task to find a place for such a huge building. Therefore the smaller production buildings are more popular.
    Electrical plants provide the required happiness for the population. Everybody understands this latest when there is a blackout.
    Fighting in the Progressive Era will be the topic of the next video.

      I loved this video as when I got to PE I knew exactly what techs to do! But I later learned that the Rapid Fire Cannons are probably the first artillery unit that's quite successful! I know that PE is one of the eras that GvG guilds need players to stay in! I tried to stay in PE for awhile, but I learned how good the conscript unit was so I ended finishing the tree in a week, but then came a story and side quest that pushed me into ME and I hated ME and PME! So I rushed them in about 3 weeks! But I had been camping before and thanks to Virgo Project and how the dual wave battles don't start till PME, I managed to get most of the PE map done in CA! But phenomenal video! I hope everything is alright as I haven't seen much from you and I think an Antiques update is coming as in beta just last night there was an Olympic Treasury kit in auction!

    I recently hit PE myself with the plan on camping out there for a while and have done it as such:
    I came in with 20M supplies and too many coins from farming in Colonial. I need no supplies buildings.
    All population comes from the Habitat (or Inno) and my Lord's Manor. I have no high rises.
    I made the 2-lane as small as possible, which was just enough space for me to put down 6 explosives factories, three on each side. The rest of my town uses promenades.
    I haven't and won't touch any military tech since GE provides enough for me. I've been using 2 armored car and 7 rogues for the most of it.
    I've touched as much tech as need be for story quests and left everything else unresearched, including the three side techs in industrial.
    I pushed hard into Modern Era maps and got ahold of 3 bazooka team units. They exist, I don't know how to use them yet, but they're there.

    im a bit annoyed that the PE production buildings dont have a low pop and small size type building like ce had clock maker, ia had gunsmith, and me has the hatter. i much prefer those because they make quests involving production a breeze

    I've been in PE for about a year or more and was curious if there is a list of things to get before you jump to FE I have enough fp and goods to make the leap but fear that I am going to be jumping in too soon.

    Video about my current Era, nice :) I'm not focused on fighting so I already decided to skip those 4 techs,that is a good hint. I have Inno since CA,it's now level 9 so luckily I don't have to concern myself with high rises. Looking forward to the next video about fighting in progressive era, as it takes a bit different approach on this new battlefield. Good video as always mate :)

    I also like getting through PE as fast as possible. The supplies buildings are very inefficient on both population and space. Hatters are far better, and Modern is a nicer place to sit and build goods for a jump to Contemporary where GE is a breeze thanks to AA vehicles.

    Hey! Loved your video as always. But I have a doubt. I am currently in the HMA and I am progressing very slowly through the ages, making sure that I stockpile at least 1000 goods of each type in each age.
    You think it is a right strategy or shall I increase the stockpile to 2000 of each good per age or above?

    • @FoEhints
      @FoEhints  6 лет назад +1

      In the Colonial Age a good stock makes sense. I am afraid that 1,000 of each good of the HMA (and next also the LMA) is much more than you ever will need - except you are a tradesperson who wants to negotiate all levels of the guild expedition every week.

    I've noticed that the top-ranking players in the game don't really use 2 lane roads at all. They get everything they need from event buildings and great buildings instead. 2 lane roads take up too much space.

    • @FoEhints
      @FoEhints  3 года назад

      yes. I published this video many years ago.
      Never forget that with Halloween 2015 there was the first event building producing forge points. Before there only was the Shrine of Knowledge.
      In the meantime event buildings became so much bvetter that they changed the whole balancing.
      I never constructed a goods building in Space Age Venus. The event buildings produced more goods than needed.

      if you use production binuses and 1 hour production cycles it will surely be enough.

    Why don't u make a video on all ages tricks and tips. In every age there is a specific patter to play so as to get the most optimum outcome

    • @FoEhints
      @FoEhints  6 лет назад

      There is a video for every age since high Middle Ages. I usually provide era specific tips in this.
      It is my believe that there is not only one specific way to play. You can be a fighter or a tradesperson or a mix of both. You possibly prefer to advance slowly and level your great buildings early or you advance very fast with just a minimum of great buildings. GvG is important for some players, for others it is not. There are many different ways to play this game. I can only provide some inspiration.

    • @gautamsrivastav8330
      @gautamsrivastav8330 6 лет назад

      FoEhints very well defined different playing styles, so how do u like to play. I normally rush the researches when I enter an era then hold to and start contributing in GB

    • @FoEhints
      @FoEhints  6 лет назад

      This is a very good approach.
      For the progressive era recommended to fighters to first develop all technologies until having tank as you need this to be successful in guild expedition. Afterwards you are free to either develop all other technologies very fast or slowly depending on other priorities.
      This is not the same in many other ages. Often the most important military technology is one of the last technologies.
