I've got a 1949 mod 262. It looks like your red one, but it has a green shade with a silver tank/bottom. I have that 1926 hang tag you gave me hanging on it.
I called the tip cleaner lever the switch, brain short circuits late in the day. Pretty sure I sold one like your 1949 years back when I was liquidating an estate hoard. I remember the nickel plated tank. The oldest I still have that functions is one of the larger ones from the early 60's.
Darryl Boyd ( Dolk) passed away suddenly, he ran the tech end of the board. His family never responded to our efforts to transfer the board to a new server under another tech gurus supervision. In time the bills went unpaid and the host pulled the plug on all of it. Darryl did not expect to leave this world so suddenly, he had not made any preparations for the boards continuance once he was gone. We were trying different options up to the moment things went dark, but ran out of time.
@@RockIsland1913Damn. I am sorry to hear that both for Darryl and his family’s sake as well as the board. RMNF was a huge store of knowledge, now lost.

Off topic, but what happened to RMNF?
