To me those flat heads are hard to beat for eating. Love your show, this is the first year I’ve tried Croppie fishing late in the year, going to go after noon today. Last week I went twice and caught 17 all around 11 inches those big ones really bite late in the year. God bless and have a good day! I did have my biggest Croppie this spring the same morning, 2:52 & 3:24 , Caught both of them within 15 minutes of each other beautiful fish turned them back in maybe someone else will have the joy of catching them.
I was watching some older videos of Richard Gene the fishing machine and he mentioned you’re one of his favorites to watch and you’re from SC. I’m in the low country so figured I’d check out the local boy. Richard was right. Good stuff and family friendly. Subscribed.
That would have been some good lip smakin catfish stew right there 😋 delicious. Would have made a huge pot 🤣 ...the next day your hand probably feeln like its been in a vice ...afyer all that squuezin and fightin that big catfish OUTSTANDING SHOW...👍
I was at a farm pond about 30 years ago, fishing for channel cats, the guy had some purty good sized channels in there and he told me that there was a couple of flatheads in there too, well I was wearing out the channels on little bitty brim, live brim, and that's the only thing they would hit on well wouldn't you know one of those flatheads had to bite, I played it for about a half hour or so, it was 40 lbs on the nose, I was using a 7 ft medium action ugly stik with 10 lb mono and a short time after that, at another pond my son caught a 18 lb flathead on a 4 ft light action and 4 lb test, I reckon that was the week for us to catch them, haha.
Glad you didn't break off that catfish.like seeing it come up.when the bite is slow when I'm fishing would have loved to hook into that thing.what do you like eating best.crappie or white perch?
How is your wrist doing ? Are you back at it yet? Hey have you heard anything about goose creek reservoir? Thats the closest body of water to my brothers house and im determined to catch a south carolina fish while im down there
Steve, this is Reuben, haven't been able to watch videos for about two months. I was having trouble with my diabetes. Question: what test pound did you use for that Catfish?
@@theoldfisherman2040 Well, I figured between 6 and 8 lb test line, seeing as how you were just fishing for Crappie. BUT, takes an experienced Fisherman to catch a BIG FLATHEAD 20lbs or better, on 6lb test line! I reckon that's why they call you... The Old Fisherman!
It's me again sir from Ohio one thing about it I'll gaunrnte that the shovel head you caught is probably better than crappie I fish for both limb lines yeller cats big grays browns I'll promise you sir I'm sure you know how to clean one
Great fishing
Thanks 👍
