  • Peggy O’Neal had never seen a game of AFL when she moved to Australia 30 years ago, and now she’s the president of her beloved Richmond Tigers.
After almost 20 years without a premiership win, the club had to change the way it thought about leadership and governance before it was able to take the top prize in 2017.
Peggy talks to Barrie Cassidy about good governance, changing culture, and how to keep your eyes on the prize.

Hope essendon take a leaf out of richmond. Need to start getting people with character and integrity at senior leadership positions. We need a new CEO and i would go for steve hocking. James hird needs to come back as a senior assistant to help rutten. Then i would get dean solomon as an assistant coach. Kevin sheedy on the board might be the best move we have made in ages

Football is a private industry for profit, this is advertising for profit given to a private company for free! Sport is an industry, ABC stop giving away biased free advertising.

Nope, AFL and the clubs are not-for-profit. Richmond are beholden to their members, not shareholders. No owner takes away all the profit they make. The money goes back into the club and community.

Sorry wrong. That's what separates the AFL from any other football code. The supporters (members) own the club. And the 3 or 4 that aren't the AFL itself have controlling interest and are holding them until the members can own it once again..
