Hey everyone! I'm still not sure exactly what to do with this series and category of story yet, but hopefully you find the first story to be a nice contrast to another recent story that didn't quite end so well. Have a great rest of your weekend!
I loved these stories! I hope you can make this a series! It is nice to hear inspiring stories too! Thank you for all of your hard work and great videos!
Man I have a story that could very well fit into the survival series, but I can't even begin to imagine how to write down everything that happened to send you the email, it was all so quick and my memory has been hiding the events away over the years
Great video as always. But a correction: at 9:18, you mention lidocaine is a sedative. It isn’t in any way. It’s the same thing as a dentist’s novocaine (and some dentists now use lidocaine instead), and is for numbing a specific site while staying wide awake. If she had taken a sedative, there’s a good chance her procedure wouldn’t have ended as well as it did. I wouldn’t trust my hand to do any cuts on anything more than like, a single tiny anti anxiety pill.
In the first story, it's absolutely astounding that they were able to spot James. If you've ever seen video of what it looks like from the deck of a big ship, you'll know that it's almost impossible to see something in the water. Even something the size of a lifeboat is really hard to see, and you keep losing sight of it in the waves.
I grew up in Buckie (Moray Coast, NE Scotland) most of my childhood and spent a fair amount of time around boats between my granddad and late (step) dad, and even being in your pleasure boats that aren’t much bigger than fishing boats, it’s pretty damn hard spotting things in the water! Even on a clear day the sea is just too vast to spot things tbh!
@@ZombieSazza Well, as someone told me years ago, part of why the old boats had so many lookouts is that maintaining the same PoV for a period of time lets you notice things you can't see if you're scanning the horizon. It's all about absorbing information.. the sea is vast and that means you have a lot to process. Oddly someone who's just absentmindedly staring off into the distance is sometimes more likely to see a person than someone actively looking. that's because you're NOT trying to process a large area all at once and giving your mind time to process it in parts.
I had a neighbor named Brandy she is a paraplegic. When she was like 18 she was driving home from school and wanted to listen to certain CD but dropped it as she bent forward to reach and feel for it she for a split second lost control of her car and ran off the road and flipped her car in a ravene. When she awoke she was trapped and couldn't move because she broke her back...she said she tried to get out but couldn't. She was there for 3 days, everyone was looking for her...but her grandfather decided to try and retrace what her route was, just so happened he noticed slight tire tracks in the grass he pulled over and walked a little way that's when he saw her car. Drs said she wouldn't have survived another day, it just so happened they didn't cut the grass so he was able to see tracks in grass. She is a paraplegic but is grateful to be alive and loves her grandfather. If you drop something just wait til you park to pick it up.
Good luck with that. Just like ppl merging on freeway. They MUST merge over THIS INSTANT. Can't slowly drive along the merge lane for a few more seconds????
You get so used to being behind the wheel it becomes like second-nature. Please ! - do not ever-ever underestimate how close - and mind-numbingly quick absolute disaster is to you every single moment you are behind the wheel of any vehicle. Nothing should occupy any of your time while you are driving. "OH-come'on, - I wasn't doing a crossword puzzle or anything, - it was only a new disc, or grabbing a few more fries, or making sure my makeup was alright, or sending a real-quick text, or just reaching under the seat for some Kleenex, or, - I was only ... ". The 'window' that remains open between comfort and absolutely life-altering catastrophe is only ever as large as your full and singular attention to the road is respected.
@@Vagabond_Etrangerfirst of all you don’t “slowly” merge into traffic! You need to be doing the same speed or faster than the traffic your merging into!
It is a nice change of pace to hear some stories that turn out alright when compared to everything else on the channel. I'm all for one of these every 5 or so videos to clear the air and give us a little hope back after hearing the most horrible tales.
Small correction for anyone a bit confused: at 9:18, lidocaine is not a sedative. It is a numbing agent, the same as novocaine at the dentist. The last thing you want when working on yourself is a sedative. Amazing video, but just wanted to fix that mistake for anyone who was confused by it, or wondering how she operated on herself when sedated.
I beleive that is the drug that allowed some early doctors to operate on themselves in the very early days of surgery using drugs like lidocaine. One guy legit did his own appendix removal which still blows my mind.
That's a good call. We don't need a bunch of people sucking down all the sunburn lotions with aloe and lidocaine in hopes to get high! It won't work, and aloe (on its own) tastes like slimy sh*t... ;o)
The cynic in me can't help but wonder if he had actually won an evening of drinks, and whether that first one might have been doped to maximize the ships profits. In any case, I too, find these types of events particularly interesting, and nice contrast to that similar story about the poor tic tok kid's tragedy. PS: a word of advice to would be cruise ship goers: if the drinks on whatever cruise you're booked on, aren't covered by the price of admission, then please do yourself a huge favor by cancelling that nonsense, and save up for one where the amenities are comped. All but the most staunch disciplinarians among us won't be able to 'just not drink', when confronted with the reality of being surrounded 24/7 by drunkards, strategically placed drinks, and a crew that is likely trained upsell you on them. As a good amount of their profitability is tied up in people's lack of ability to resist social pressure and cave into buying the overpriced products. Oh, and should you be one such disciplinarian, your reward for your high standard is to then get to have all of the fun of your typical designated driver on a night out with the boys (which if you haven't had the honor, is not fun, at all, ever)! Alcohol can accelerate the effects of dehydration and exhaustion to the point that a person lost at sea would have little hope of surviving long before either losing the strength to swim or succumbing to the urge to drink sea water. He had to be both incredibly alert and physically fit to have made it out of that situation alive.

I'm not saying this is the case with the first story but I have read many stories about human trafficking on cruise ships. The fact that the guy had no idea why he passed out is rather strange.
When human trafficking occurs it’s kids and young women. I don’t think men and older women are targets -despite the fact that every middle aged woman I know on Facebook is terrified they’re going to be nabbed every time they go to Walmart.
What?!?! You're still deciding if this will be a permanent series? Say it's not so! All of your Scart Interesting videos have done well! Keep doing well, Sean! Keep doing Scary Interesting videos
The last one reminds me of the girl that fell into a canyon while running a race(/marathon?) with her dog and she broke her pelvis and had to crawl with broken bones for days. I think her dog saved her in the end by going to get help. I like this video a lot and would love to see more of it!
The series has been nice. Creepy stories that don't end in tragedy are a needed change from creepy stories that are nothing but doom. A few of these successful stories sprinkled here and there are adding a lot of depth to your channel. By all means cut back on (or remove) the successful ones if they are not to your taste, but know that they're adding to the quality of your channel. Keep up the great work dude.
Love your stories! Also, second story reminded me about Leonid Rogozov. He also was a sole medic in an Arctic expedition, but he was forced to perform appendectomy on himself, using a mirror.
Please continue this series, especially stuff like the last 2 stories. we need more reminders of how much humans can endure and overcome, against insane odds.
This may be my favorite of your videos yet. I liked the horrible fates but this one hit me different.....maybe my mood today. Who knows. LoL Keep up the awesome work! Thanks!
Hey Sean. Just wanted to thank you for these videos. I’m a truck driver, and these stories are the only thing that can keep me awake on night shifts. Keep it up 👍
Really enjoyed this video and how you usually tell stories I've never heard of, not just the same ones that get covered over and over. Keep it up and we'll watch whatever you put out :)
You could do one on people who disappear from cruise ships whose families think they Didn’t accidentally fall overboard. (Or fall overboard at all) The lack of investigation because the ship is usually licensed in Ecuador or something like that, and the international waters thing combined with the cruise ships (usual) desire to keep on schedule, alarm no one and do nothing is scary to me.
There's a better chance he thought it would be fun but j2ver crossed his mind that a) no one would see abs b) its illegal. So saying he actually went over would have made him liable for all of the costs of search and rescue.
Imagine resetting your own compound fractured ankle with no pain medication, anesthesia or even a drop of alcohol only shear will and determination to live. Absolutely and truly a story of survival and self preservance.
I stumbled across your channel about 6 months ago and I must say you are one of my favorites. Your stories are always interesting and your presentation is excellent. The intro music is perfect in a way I can’t quite describe. I even heard it playing in my mind the other day when I was watching a thunder storm forming in the distance. I definitely enjoyed this video because everyone survived. There seems to be no end to the stories that end in tragedy so I think it’s important to tell the stories of people who overcome impossible odds and live to tell about it. I also like that I have to wait for the next story to come out. I think some content creators worry that if they don’t produce something every 5 seconds that they will lose their audience, and I understand why they feel that way; but I actually enjoy the feeling of having something to look forward to. Plus I know that you’ve taken the time to produce a quality video and I won’t be disappointed. 😊🤗

ever hear of blackout drunk ? and yes you can pass out from too much alcohol.
Yeah, I was wondering if he was drugged.
Most modern cruise ships have railings at least 45 inches high. Was he 'helped' over the railing?
When human trafficking occurs it’s kids and young women. I don’t think men and older women are targets -despite the fact that every middle aged woman I know on Facebook is terrified they’re going to be nabbed every time they go to Walmart.
@@Big_Texthere have been lots of cases of young men being targets they're just not publicized the same unfortunately
It is amazing how you are able to find all these photos that are able to describe the story wonderfully
This serie is the BEST !Please please don't stop, better than moutain or cave for sure , this serie you started with is gold
What?!?! You're still deciding if this will be a permanent series? Say it's not so! All of your Scart Interesting videos have done well! Keep doing well, Sean! Keep doing Scary Interesting videos
Please keep doing insane survival stories!! Its really uplifting to hear people surviving in the absolute worst circumstances.
I really love these survival stories every once in a while. Its so refreshing to hear about humans that survive by just raw perseverance.
Absolutely one of the BEST channels EVER!! You're so talented, thanks for keeping us entertained, keep up the amazing work 🙂❤️
Love your stories!
Also, second story reminded me about Leonid Rogozov. He also was a sole medic in an Arctic expedition, but he was forced to perform appendectomy on himself, using a mirror.
Found this channel a few months back and look forward to watching the new videos. Makes you appreciate the little things in life.
Please continue this series, especially stuff like the last 2 stories. we need more reminders of how much humans can endure and overcome, against insane odds.
This may be my favorite of your videos yet. I liked the horrible fates but this one hit me different.....maybe my mood today. Who knows. LoL
Keep up the awesome work! Thanks!
Hey Sean. Just wanted to thank you for these videos. I’m a truck driver, and these stories are the only thing that can keep me awake on night shifts. Keep it up 👍
I don't think that free drink was worth treading water in the inky dark ocean as driftwood impersonation was worth it.
Really enjoyed this video and how you usually tell stories I've never heard of, not just the same ones that get covered over and over. Keep it up and we'll watch whatever you put out :)
I love the way you narrate stories!
Also plenty of drink-spiking so more risk of falling (or "falling") overboard if you end up outside
Thats why i dont go on a cruise all by myself. You go overboard? Game over.
Keep up the good work fella and, as always, stay safe!
Liked before I pressed play. I just know the content will be excellent.
This has become my favorite RUclips channel. After having binge watched all of his old stuff I am always so happy when I notice a new one released 🥰
This is an awesome series to have! It balances out the tragedy ones well. Nice seeing some people winning now and again haha.
I love the extreme survival stories! So inspiring.
Sean, you’re the man ! You make my day after a heavy day drinking !! Much respect for your work I really enjoy your content ! Keep up the good work man !
I love the survive stories. You tell them in almost the exact same way with different outcomes and it’s really good
I really loved these stories, please keep doing them!
Please continue the series, as I've already seen most of your uploads and am wishing for more! One of my fav channels
Personally, I don't think it's a good idea to drink excessively anywhere but especially cruise ships
I was just thinking the same thing
Yeah. I motherfucking agree fellers
G’day Sean, been watching your episodes for some time now and thoroughly enjoy them. Just for future reference, Australian’s pronounce Brisbane as “Briz-bin”. Much like Melbourne is “Mel-bin”. Keep up the great work. Most compelling. Cheers mate.
These survival stories are extremely compelling and speak to the tenacity of the human spirit. Would love to see more videos like this one.
would be cool if you get these 3 guys together in an interview episode. would be nice to see and hear them share their stories too :)
ok sorry, i was typing the comment above before i heard that Jerry died, rip :(
Deeply impressed by James' mental strength. Of course the others were fantastic too in their struggle, but there is something about being alone in the middle of the sea that scares the s##t out of me.
Excellent! Please keep this series going! I love extreme survival stories with a positive ending!
Your video pics are just so freskin detailed and good I can hardly stand it! The forest pics were absolutely gorgeous! All this AND spectacular narration and superb storytelling. Love your channel, dont ever change for youtube lol❣
The ex spouse having the rescue beacon feels particularly harsh. Oof. Glad it still ended well!
I'm sure it was simply forgotten rather than deliberately taken, but given the chances of death in that situation I would have been absolutely cursing her
No. No. No. No. No. The first man that fell off the cruise ship has stated in an interview that he WAS drunk. However, he WAS NOT inebriated.
Which I find hilarious.
BEST comment. THE best.
Good lord, I can’t imagine being horribly, terribly sunburned and being stuck in salt water with nowhere to go
Ur story telling are clear and very enjoyable don’t stop whenever I see you upload I get excited and watch , I always watch these type of videos at night
What a wild assortment of tales... Definitely nice to hear people survive some of the crazy shit that goes on
Marten Hartwell would be a great one to cover! Also the Mad Trapper of Rat River is sort of a survival story, but could also work for your reg series.
I loved this! The Last case especially, I hike and camp on D'Aguilar state forest all the time and had no idea about this story. Gave me chills! Keep it up 💯
great video Sean from scary interesting!! That last story was unbelievable!!!
This would be a very interesting series. It would be nice to see more stories like these.
You need to make this a permanent series, keep up the good work!!! My favorite RUclips channel
You could always incorporate these stories into Horrible Fates as a palate cleanser at the end of the video. Leave people still horrified but hopeful
Good idea.
Make this a series!
I've been waiting for a channel to cover more survival stories-just be wary of the fake ones out there haha
I loved this collection of stories. So inspiring! I’m going to go look and see if you continued this series as I’ve only just found your channel recently and I’m flying through the content. I absolutely love this channel.
Lol "IM NOT THAT DRUNK" -guy who falls overboard on a cruise ship with an open bar
Those railings are built to prevent accidental falls even by the drunkest of cruise goers or people would fall over all the time. It requires intent, from that person or from someone else, to lift up and over to get over the rail.
100% the reason he "can't remember": thought it would be fun to jump in the water but no one noticed AND he found out it was illegal so "I dOnT kNoW wHaT HaPpEnED OffICeR! I OnLy HaD 2 DrINks!" Is the call of every DUI everywhere
@Loralanthalas I think it might have been a suicide attempt that he doesn’t want to admit.
@@blacksapphirerainmaybe his drink was spiked and that made him act irrationally?
@@blacksapphirerainRailings are usually chest height, around 40inches, you can still fall over while extremely drunk.
I can't believe story one was found truly a miracle. He saids he wasn't drunk. That really is hard to comprehend
Scary Interesting Sundays are my favorite! Love the channel ❤
Please make this a series. While people having more problems than we do is interesting and good lessons on what not to do, it can really help a hard day to here survival stories
This was fantastic, I’d love hearing more of these please 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks for covering an Aussie story - there’s plenty of them! The hinterlands around Brisbane are incredibly beautiful rainforests with great tracks
I can always count on a new Why Files every Thursday evening and my other Favorite channel
Scary Interesting on Saturday or Sunday. Thanks for the hard work and consistent videos! It’s really appreciated.
You're style, pacing and passion make this my favorite scary channel. Thank you for all your hard work!
Definitely a nice change of pace to have a GOOD ending to these stories. Not that it was something I'd ever complain about in the past, but it's at least a little bit of uplifting news...after I've binged about 25 of your videos straight.
More of these please! Sometimes I'm in the mood for a happy ending and these are perfect
I liked this, thanks for uploading. My brother was in Antarctica for a year (1982), with the South African team, SANAE 23. His team was the last one to sail there on the SA Agulhas I.
I've heard alcohol consumption and walking on the deck of a ship don't mix. The 1st story confirms it.
Survival story Dr jerry 10:20 she ALSO SURVIVED (A GRIZZLY BEAR ATTACK) this survival story was left outthe grizzly broke her back, cracked her skull AMONG MANY other injuries THIS CHIC WAS A BEAST i remember watching her on a Survival show,...i never knew til just now that she passed THANKS FOR ALL HER BACKGROUND INFO she survived ALOT of things that most ppl wouldn't ❤
I very much enjoy these as much as the others, if not more, cause instead of the ending being a foregone conclusion, learning how they overcame the situation they were in was gripping
Excellent. I hope you make it a permanent addition to the line-up. Survival stories are amazing.
Dude I fucking love your content got recommended, I like you voice tones and additions ansd ood writing the scripts, I watched all of them and listened during my whole night shift and felt a unsettling and yet relaxing, and now I'm out of videos to watch >:[ and also props for describing details for listeners or visually impaired. It makes the content very easy to digest without it being overwhelming. Thank you ❤️
Stories of hope & survival are fantastic to listen to & incredible to believe. It would be great to continue with the series a lot of people would be inspired by them. OMG story 1 just wow!
This series is great! I often hear a story I've never heard before!
I absolutely love Scary Interesting and will follow you anywhere with what you do. I'm hooked!!
I hope you continue this series. It’s nice to get some happy endings once in a while
Thanks Sean, love these stories, please continue this series ❤ from Australia 🇦🇺
At 18:13 in the video, you pronounced "Brisbane" like a true Australian!! Prior to that the pronunciation was different. Well done mate. I enjoy watching your videos 👍
I hope you make this a regular series, I really enjoyed all three of these stories!
LOVE the survival stories! I’m more on the edge of my seat bc I don’t know how it will end
how can u passout, fall in water and wakkeup later without drowning/sinking??
I'm continually impress with the quality of your and your team's work.
Yes, make this a series. As long as you keep it scary and interesting.
