FAR 61.56(f) exempts flight instructors (as long as they renew their certificate according to 61.197) from the 1 hour ground portion of a flight review. I still think it’s a good idea regardless to review ground subjects. Love the vids. Will definitely be using Nick’s Flying Eyes promo code lol
I naturally grew up with motion sickness all my life in cars, boats whatever. Got sick all through my private training and after trying nearly everything those sea bands finally did the trick. They’re great for anyone who easily gets motion sickness.
Ahoy, fellow Cessna Captains! Another excellent video! Just a minor barnacle to pick, I believe in the Skyboat we should refer to our altitude in Fathoms instead of feet. 🦀🦀🦀
Man, you guys are having too much fun!! Loved the evacuation & the tip about the wrist bands for airsickness, I just got my CFI & I’ll definitely remember it if/when I have a student feeling ill.
Prepping for my checkride. I like the tip about vocalizing "altitude and heading" between each step...but shhh...don't tell Nick. I'll give you all the credit, Lew!
Hello 👋. Loving the videos. I don't know if I'm right but at 20:35 it seems the controller told you to go around to make room for another aircraft further behind in the sequence. I was under the impression that this wasn't allowed and the controller should have vectored the other aircraft instead. E.g: a controller can't kick a slow Cessna out of the approach to make room for a faster Boeing further behind in the sequence. If it comes to it the Boeing should perform the go-around and the Cessna should continue their approach. If someone could shine some light on this that would be great. Sincerely, an aspiring pilot from the UK
I believe it was a King Air, I can’t quite remember. But I was baffled that I was instructed to go around because I was short final and would have been out of the way. It was unnecessary in my opinion. But it wasn’t the place to argue. I had the fuel available to make the go around and return safely so it’s not a huge deal, but definitely unnecessary.
We need a whole video on advisories, LOL! Joking aside, knowledge has saved more people than the lack of knowledge has. Anytime I look at a landscape at night the first thing I do is look for an airport beacon. Anyone else?
Yeah even when I’m not flying, If I’m on a viewpoint I’m looking out to see if I can spot it. They’re always so hard to find but once you do they stand out
My DPE did the same thing on the slow flight. We were at 2500. He tells me “climb to 3500 holding this speed.” Couple minutes later. “Ok 3000 is good enough”. Lol
Almost threw up on my first flight lesson and thought I might never be able to fly - sea bands got me through the rest of my PPL training without any more issues!
Motion Sickness!!! Allow me to tell, Ginger saved me from that. but, the actual root boiled in water and then drink. it tastes like hell!!! but, really works. I had everything from bands like you showed to patches, passing by the useless expensive EmeTerm. I hope this can help someone, because it helps me to continue my training.
You not gonna belive it but I have done many steep turns like this:)) since almost always the heading gindicator is INOP and attitude indicator is usually inaccurate or faulty in our Traning Aircrafts :))))) So I tried to perform Instrument Steep turn and I end up just doing it by mantaining G-Force Feeeling
15 years after selling the aircraft and began to miss it. Maybe I just want to know if I still have it. Wasn't bad in the day. Maybe I just want to fly with a cfi. New technology will be challenging.
I need to finish another license this year so I can reset that 24 month calendar, should be easy though as I still have a year left. Now you need to tell us who Nick flies for since he's ATP and all.
Lucky you! I didn’t see any smoke in the cockpit. And let the guy get his bag if it’s not the size of a skippy ball. If you have time to shut down the plane that shouldn’t be an issue ;-)
A good BFR. If I can offer some feedback myself: I love that you guys are having fun. And I would never ask you to not, except to say: Please, do not goof off when there's anyone on the radio. Your situational awareness is what keeps you alive, and maintaining it is absolutely a perishable survival skill. You need to be aware of your own calls just as much as everyone else around that field. I've literally had to blacklist students from my own operation from visiting a nearby towered field because of how often the [major 141 training operation] crews are talking over radio and missing their own calls. Been too many close calls and near misses, and if we weren't listening out for them we'd be in a ditch long ago. It's a difficult thing to do as a CFI, specially at a busy field, but there's no world where it's not a healthy habit to get into. Still, love your videos, and I'm gonna practice the evacuation routine a few times with my commercial guys! (I have a private field available)
I don’t have too much test anxiety, but a lot of people do. You should do a mock checkride with an actual student close to their ride. If possible (and I know that’s a big “if”), with an actual DPE. I think students are hesitant to believe the wisdom of a DPE being a first passenger and not trying to trick you, and it’s not until after their ride that they realize, “Holy Crap! I really had nothing to worry about, after all!
This is great, I was not disappointed at all. I especially love the evacuation, I didn't realize you do a real evacuation on the ATP checkride. The problem that I have with the flight review system in general though is that the CFI can literally do whatever they want, whether or not it is critical, with very few regulations. This is a great video, but where is the pattern work, for example, showing different kind of landings? Where are the stalls? What about commercial maneuvers? If you didn't call it a flight review, I never would have known that's what it was
And you think that's bad, just wait until an asymmetrical flap failure occurs - where one side extends but the other doesn't. Talk about a frightening situation while flying low and slow.

Can't wait to do your next flight review, we'll have to make it a bit more challenging... Hmmm.
Combine the engine fire with the steep turn drill. Foggles and everything. It was brilliant. You gotta be prepared for anything 😂😂😂
It was great to watch you guys ! Thx for the great content
Throttle for altitude, pitch for airspeed

Correct! And we should learn nautical knots for the tie down

I’m the guy that asked if that was slow flight clean or dirty glad to see I made it in been waiting for this video :)
Haha nice!

Wait, what?
I just want to tell you both good luck. We're all counting on you!
This has been one of the best Videos so far i think :D loved it!
Thank you!
Damn… that was a good video! Just passed my MEI checkride today and it was great to tune into here and remember how relaxing and fun flying is 🤘🏻
Congrats on the pass!

@@LewDixAviation Thanks for the clarification; thought it was weird.
Thanks for the seaband tip, Nick!!

Loved this video and your reaction to the go around....
None stop awful weather has me grounded here in North East UK. Watching you to try keep sharp! Great videos man.
Cheers mate!
Almost threw up on my first flight lesson and thought I might never be able to fly - sea bands got me through the rest of my PPL training without any more issues!
One of the best videos you’ve produced Lewis! Loved everything the jokes and the flight review, funny and witty! Keep it up!
Thanks man!
I have never laughed so much on a video about aviation. So good I loved this video. Thanks as always!
Great to hear!
That steep turn with failed gyro had me laughing. Good times.
The AC at the end is hilarious
Have my flight review this week!
This was utterly ridiculous. I loved it 😂
Amazing video and super fun to watch! I have a question: did you use trim during your steep turns?
Motion Sickness!!! Allow me to tell, Ginger saved me from that. but, the actual root boiled in water and then drink. it tastes like hell!!! but, really works.

Haha thank you 🙌🏻
Too much fun! Love it.
Thanks Jay!
the aviation gauntlet that was fun to watch but I bet it felt like you went to Six Flags
Let's go!
Hej, does anyone know the link for the bands that the instructor was talking about? I have the same issue and i d like to try them out..
May I ask why did you retract flaps right after landing? ☺️ 22:20
Puts more weight on wheels to aid in slowing down quicker
What @Fl8ghtTime said
Great! Thanks! I thought so. ☺️
What are your ISO settings?? All my flights look like a dramatic monochromatic painting..

Power for altitude and pitch for airspeed has been permanently ingrained into my brain
Flying eyes prescription lenses? Options?
A good BFR.

Glad you liked it! As the disclaimer says, there are many things cut out of the final production.
@@LewDixAviation The next time Nick needs a flight review, you should do it for him (in a video) and return all the pain... I mean, favors
I wasn't naucious, but was afraid anytime turbulence happened. Still kept flying the plane though.
wilco = will comply vs roger = ya ya gotch whatever :)
Hi Lewdix🤟
Hello!
What about hi Nick?
@@nlandman1 who’s Nick?
Forgot the A20s. Failed.
Been too long bro. X
Yep!
No electrical = no flaps. Reason #362 why Cherokees are better.
Yes!!!
And you think that's bad, just wait until an asymmetrical flap failure occurs - where one side extends but the other doesn't. Talk about a frightening situation while flying low and slow.
