Also need to remember that your badges play a big roll in your ability to knock down these shots too. You can try to time a contest all day but if you don’t have the badges and boosts necessary to widen your green window it’ll be almost impossible to hit consistent contests. Blinders, Deadeye, Catch and Shoot, Corner Specialist, Green Machine… all of these are best on at least Gold if you wanna hit consistent contests.
The biggest thing is internet connection. Not learning jumpshot timing or visual cue, or knowing whether your open or not, but internet. Obviously it helps , but learning a jumpshot timing and then playing with inconsistent internet, is useless. Without consistent internet connection, your shots are all over the place. Your average shooter at best , if your playing wirelessly. So much better with ethernet.
My setup is streaming 2k24 on my laptop (through Xbox gamepass on PC) on my college campus unstable ass wifi💀 I still shoot reliably on catch and shoots and on postfades and off-dribble shots simply because I know the timing. I suck ass at the game and the delay makes it more or less unplayable but it did teach me that shooting has gotta be like 95% muscle memory cuz theres no way I can shoot off of cues with so much instability.
Even with eleite internet and ethernet and adjusted dds setttings etc you will still have issues there are a plethora if different considerations including internet traffic ps5 settings tv/monitor settings and controller settings
after a 10 mls ping or lower it doesn't matter cause the servers are trash and its a 15 mls ping just for a offline server connection that doesn't even include online with 9 other people
I green right in peoples faces it doesnt matter rather its 20% or 100% contested, i just did a turn around fade away on 5 defenders while in the doubled animation
This is good info. But another huge tip is THE FASTER YOUR BASE + HIGHER THE RELEASE HEIGHT, the more likely you are to green. That’s why most YTers are pushing tmac base… bc yes, it’s easy to time & consistent… bc it’s SLOW & for CASUALS. But if you’re tryna go comp, you need fast bases & they’re never gonna tell you that or give you their specific base.
i’m not sure i’d say just pay attention to ur jumper. sometimes u could be wide open and the jumper will speed up or slow down so idk if the contest affects it cause i get slow downs on contests too
This is all facts but me personally I don’t use Gatorade unless 2k gives it to me and I use boost sometimes but like I said that’s just me good video. About time someone keeps it real and not lying telling ppl “this jumpshot”.
You didn't mention at all the actual key to shooting contested... The 🗝️ is learning your contest timing. Each level of contest will have it's own different timing. The higher the contest the faster you get to time your shot... Nobody wants to tell anyone that

I shoot 60% from 3 but when contested i struggle to hit as consistent. Is just shooting them in game the best way to practice them?

Tmac base is comparable to patty mills tho & I run tmac on one of my 6’6 builds with 86 3PT & I make contest alot.
