Wow, this video is amazing! I run the Team Alua, the Gravity Rush Research Group and I never knew about those connect and details! Amazing works! One thing we figured out is that if you greet a ownless dog multiple times, it will start following you. (Or throw their owner into the void...)
Great video! I've never taken as many photos in a game as I did in Gravity Rush 2. The large range of emotes and the way npcs reacted to them really encouraged playing around with the camera. Sadly I forgot they were stored with all the other screenshots on my PS4 and lost them one day while trying to make space. Realized minutes after and was crushed.
I actually noticed some of these side quest details you mentioned. That really made me appreciate them even more because by doing it that way, the things you did during these quests felt like they actually had an impact on the game world. Because of that, Gravity Rush 2's game world felt much more natural and alive than most other open world games.
I am loving this series on your virtual photography experience. The little details that often go unnoticed in games are some of my favorite things about the medium. Great stuff! :)
The camera of GR2 is one of if not the best cameras in all of video game despite its lack of functions because you're able to immerse yourself fully as Kat taking pictures of her day-to-day life. No god mode powers to control the time of day/weather so you need to be at the right place at the right time And I'm so glad someone mentioned the side quest continuity in GR2, so many little details shown in this video that I never even realized. The one I discovered by myself was Kat's song started being played randomly by musician NPCs after the main story in Jirga Para Lao and after completing the side quest with Kat's fans, it started showing up in Hekseville too (also just want to mention, after spending so much time taking pictures and finishing the side quests before the final arc of the story, the credits scene showing all the pictures I took throughout my journey actually made me tear up and solidified GR2 as my fav game of all time)
The way the npcs have a sort of continuity to them is extremely impressive. While a more major example to the little details you noticed here, after completing “Spirit of a Man” Eugie and Aujean will wave goodbye and begin to walk off. I feel like most people would fly away from them but I decided to follow and surprisingly, shortly after they walked away Aujean ran off down a nearby alleyway, leaving Eugie alone so he could go drink. It was such a nice detail and I was happy that much effort was put in. Tens of hours later I hear a “Kat!” as I’m walking the streets of Auldnoir and find Eugie calling out to me, lamenting that his father went right back to drinking after all that effort… which I already knew! It felt nice to be sort of rewarded for just walking around town and bumping into an acquaintance, relating about something we both watched happen.

Great video, the one game where I spent a lot of time with the camera feature. Saw some of the Npcs that you photographed and went to check my own capture gallery and found that I had captured a lot of the same ones!
Love this video! Having played this game twice, it’s always neat to notice more details that I missed like the newly engaged couple that you mentioned. That’s part of why I valued the side quests as much as the story missions because they flesh out the game’s world and tell such interesting stories with the NPC’s.
