Thanks for the RUclips,, thanks for the technology, and of course, thanks to Michael ! Your video saved my baby. I got my almost new 560 and was so lost when it was not working. By watching your video, 5 times, and staring to the clock for 5 minutes, to understand, I brave enough to do this "fine surgery" and Wah, it worked! It has been 3 hours by now, keep running, instead of just running few minutes before this fix. Thank you SO MUCH, Michael. Now I have local (USA) JL clock service shop! A reliable good, a good one! VERY Rare. so to whoever reads this, this is the "to go" shop with Atmos or JL clock. He definitely knows.
You're very welcome. And thank you so much for the kind words and suggestion to others. Word of mouth advertisement is some of the best out there! And trust is paramount when encouraging atmos owners to ship their precious family heirlooms to me.
I am ashamed to admit I have been looking at a stopped Atmos classique phase de lune for a couple of years. I didn't understand why leveling is so vital. Leveled up first then addressed the disengaged roller/pallet fork. Now running nicely. Thank you very much for these superb videos.
Thanks to hints and tips. I start searching this topic since my Atmos stops daily and need a kick start. I was wondering if you have a video to show us some ways to determine what is behind that. Such as under wind, under or flat charged or any other related anomaly?
Interesting Video Mike! I love my Atmos, keeps perfect time, almost as accurate as my quartz watch after a couple of adjustments of the speed versus the temperature of my house!
I have one that was given to my grandfather for 56 yrs of service at TEXACO refineries! It's engraved and hasn't moved since the mid 80's! I'm sure it's dirty and the pendulum has shifted from mishandling from my family! I was wondering if it could be fixed! And what it's current value might be. Do you think you could give me some pointers? It would be greatly appreciated! I would love to see this clock back in action!
Hi Gene, sorry I am so late to seeing this question. But yes all clocks can be repaired. You can shoot me an email at curtsclocks@gmail.com. send me some photos and I will get you an idea as to the value of the clock. For lots of pointers and instructions, please subscribe to the channel and specially look at my "How To" Playlist. I am also starting a Workshop Live Stream - Ask Me Anything Fridays at 12:10 p.m. CST. Viewers can pop in there and ask me anything about Atmos while I Service an Atmos Clock live from the work bench.
New Atmos clocks are expensive. There are a lot available for less on eBay. Do you recommend a particular (older) model? Also, what is the service charge on one that isn't keeping time well?
Yes! Today JLC doesn't produce large run offs of these clocks but instead much more limited quantity and exquisite models. You can pick whatever model you like, and I can get it serviced for you. If you want a running clock, starts at $425. Take a look at my site for more prices and Services. www.curtsclocks.com
Very informative! But I am afraid it is too delicate to do on my own. Also without take out the glass shell. It is almost impossible. So you might want to do a video on how to take off the glass shell. Thank you.
I just picked up an atmos clock this afternoon. I think it may have a broken piece looks like a little fork. I found it in with the clock. Looks like it goes up over the pendulum at the speed adjustment. Can’t get clock to operate properly so I think it may be the issue. Is this an easy repair? Is it something I can do myself? Clock is a 58 I believe. Serial 102460
What is the "spring" on the shaft of the balancer just under where the roller is? Have you ever replaced one. I have a clock that appears to have been over wound by someone and that is broken... Suspension spring?
The spring you see on the collar attached to balance tube is called the roller spring. The suspension spring is not visible, it is inside of the tube. If you see the roller spring damaged, it is good indication that the suspension wire is damaged too and possibly the pallet fork is bent. That happens from spinning the balance wheel around too much or not locking it when moving.
@@atmosrepair Thanks for the reply, the fork is definitely bent, and I'm guessing it was both over wound and moved without locking the balancer in place. Are the parts available? The good news is, if I gently flick the fork with the clock in right orientation, it runs the minute hand around almost perpetually so I'm thinking it can run.

Fab! Got my dads Atmos going in minutes thanks to this great video! Cheers and Happy 2021!!
Happy new year! And that is fantastic, thank you for watching and mentioning that I was able to help. I hope that dad is happy too.
Another great video! Thanks

I wouldn't take out glass, facing the clock, wrap index finger around the movement and nudge fork over
