  • Here's a video on how I made my custom fit, matching Trex railing gates. Use this video for any tips or ideas for your build. I use RUclips to diagnosed and repair all my stuff so would be nice to pay it forward.
    NOTE: The Barrett Universal Build A Gate kit that I used for the gate side posts is discontinued and hard to find. I found vinyl wrapped 2x4 on Home Depot's website which should be better than my original build and cheaper too. See this link:
    www.homedepot....
    For the hinges, I used D&D KwikFit Plain Pivot, Non-Tensioned Gate Hinge. I would go with these hinges (don't go cheap) since they won't rust, has the clearance for your gate hardware, and had inner mounting attachment holes. I purchased mine from this guy on eBay for $18 a set which was the best price around.

    Thanks for making this video! I've been trying to figure out how to do the same thing! How are the gates holding up? Any sagging?

      Sorry, I don't look at my own RUclips video account but it's been over a year and no sagging whatsoever.

    Where did you get those end nuts for the allthread?

      You can get those on ebay or on Amazon. They are called cable railing turnbuckles. Here's the link on Amazon for one of them.
      www.amazon.com/JUSTOGO-Hardware-Invisible-Turnbuckle-Stainless/dp/B09STLPK73/ref=sr_1_64?crid=OJOSIZC7RTE4&keywords=cable+railing+turnbuckle+1%2F8&qid=1656993880&sprefix=cable+railing+tur%2Caps%2C85&sr=8-64
      They are expensive since they're stainless steel BUT you can make something similar. Find a same diameter screw (as the treaded rod) with a big hex screw head. You can then screw a treaded rod coupler at the end of your screw and basically you created your own turnbuckle. It will be harder to connect it in the railing but it can be done since I used that on another gate. Hope this helps.

    Where did you get the caps from?

    • @blkriv95
      @blkriv95  3 года назад +1

      The caps came with my build-a-gate kit that is no longer sold. If I didn't have this gate kit, I would purchase that PVC coated treated 2x4 from Woodguard which comes with caps....Home Depot used to carry it via special order. Check out my video details for the link. Maybe you can contact that vendor and see if you can get the caps from them separately.
      Another option would 3D print those caps. I just got a cheap 3D printer and holy cow, you can build a lot of good stuff. If you know anyone locally that can 3D stuff, see if they'll print it for ya. Hope this helps.
