I admire anyone who can do this…it makes a little more sense every time I see it, but every time I weave I feel like I’m re-learning things. I’m excited to see the self-striping yarn!
Thanks, Trish, thanks to your video now I'll be able to finally use the warping mill I bought 6 years ago and never used because I didn't know how! I'm so grateful for this video and your channel!
I just got my first loom. I found a pre owned Ashford 20” Knitters loom, 2 heddles (10&7.5 DPI), 6 different sizes shuttles and all the standard miscellaneous items that Ashford provides ALL FOR $375. I got the loom for a maintenance measure. I just ordered my 1st spinning wheel and so many people advise to find a way to keep your stash organized and use the yarn you make!
I love watching you do these! And your demo of running without getting anywhere at the beginning was awesome, it totally made my day! Looking forward to seeing your self striping yarn and the fleeces you got from North Carolina!! Enjoy your week off!
Wow! Thank you..I have never used a mill before. Kinda sold on it now after this. Also, I have never crocheted warp up tightly b4..makes a lot of sense!😉
This was so clear I actually think I can do this without getting myself all confused. And the beauty is that I can watch this again and again to cement the knowledge. Thank you!!
I have only direct warped my loom. I never seem to do anything more than 100 inches so it works. You are so knowledgeable. Thanks for sharing. Be blessed.
i'm rewatching all the warping and weaving vids... is all a bit in the future for me. only looms i have i have to fix and figure out... but anyway-thanks so much for sharing you're knowledge❤
Thank you for the tips about chaining up the warp. I always struggled with getting started and keeping it from unraveling at the end. So the twist (start) and tie (end) are going to make that part of the process MUCH easier for me!
That’s such a nifty invention. I might have to make myself one! Last time I wound a warp, I used my kitchen chairs inverted on my kitchen table!! (They have straight legs so it definitely works!) Thanks for another great video with all the expert tips!! 😅
Thank you for explaining this - I've seen them before and had a very general understanding but never heard an explanation. There is no warping mill in my future (I'm rigid heddle only) but I do enjoy knowing about tools.
I am one that has limitations for direct warping, so this tutorial is fantastic. I have the pegs to indirect warp on my ashford loom. I’m sure I can translate the process, especially the chaining of the warp. Great vid!
Excited to learn ,you can use a warping mill to make self striping yarn, something I want to do, but have not RUclipsd yet, but will as I do want to try,as my kids like those socks the best, and it is expensive, but always worth it, I hope you will make a video on that😊 thanks for all your teaching videos, they are very informative and fun to watch. I myself allay go under the third peg😮
Thank you Trish for this demo. I have been thinking of getting one of them and wasn’t sure how to use it. I have looked up other videos but not many of them resonate with me likes yours do! As always you are the bomb!
Planning a new warp now, so this was helpful. I wish that I could chain that tightly!! I use a wall warping board instead of a mill, but I totally want a mill!
This is so helpful...I have one burning question, though. Does the yarn ever cross at the end pegs? I am losing my mind with twisting warp, and I think the end pegs are my problem. I hope you see this and can save my warping life. Thank you!
I did see it but I'm not exactly sure what you're asking. Do you mean at the end that doesn't have a cross? That's the end I never actually have to wind on because I tie it to the front apron bar. It doesn't cross much, but it if does, it doesn't really change anything
@@FiberLoveDiary Thank you so much for taking the time to answer! I guess what I am asking is: Does your yarn cross itself only once as you go along--at your counting cross at the top of mill? Not between that cross and the top end peg as well? I have the same mill you demonstrate with. Thanks again.
Hmmmm. I have a 6ft tall warping mill from LeClerc. You do your cross differently from me. I don't have the ability have an additional peg like the one you start with. I guess it doesn't *really* matter when using different mills as long as you get a cross, right?
Hi Trish, I am wondering if I could re-spin yarn that I spun & made into a 3-Ply? I don’t like the yarn because it is thin & thick. I also made some yarn & I chain plied it; would the chain plied yarn be to difficult to unwind? Thanks for any help. Thanks
It will be very difficult to unwind but anything is possible. Chain ply is like a crochet chain so it will unchain the same way but the twist adds complication.
I have tried to use a wall-mounted warping board and ended up with a tangled mess. I don't even know how I messed it up so bad. I just direct warp now.
Hi Trish, I sent you an email and I received a reply that you are on vacation and would be back Dec 26th. This is Feb 25, 2024. I think you are back now?? right??

One of the wonderful things about these videos is that I can watch over & over until I get it. Thank you for making these tips available.
🎉someday I will build a warping mill 😂😅 for self-striping yarn too. Great tips!❤
Thanks, Trish, thanks to your video now I'll be able to finally use the warping mill I bought 6 years ago and never used because I didn't know how! I'm so grateful for this video and your channel!
Every time i watch your weaving or weaving related videos I want to start it as another hobby.

Now I want a warping mill!
Thank you for this great tutorial...I have limited space to warp my loom, this is so easy...
Wow! Thank you..I have never used a mill before. Kinda sold on it now after this. Also, I have never crocheted warp up tightly b4..makes a lot of sense!😉

Thank you for this. I'm a brand new weaver and I'm trying to learn all that I can. 😊
I would love to be able to weave but this sounds so complicated. You are so knowledgeable about so many things.

I have a weaving project that I’m starting, and I’m using a warping mill for the first time! 😅 yay! This will help me get started. Thanks Trish! ❤
Excellent video demonstration.
Thank you for the tips about chaining up the warp. I always struggled with getting started and keeping it from unraveling at the end. So the twist (start) and tie (end) are going to make that part of the process MUCH easier for me!
Interesting! Now I understand how the tied legs work. 💡☺️

I have learnt so much from this demo, thanks heaps
BEST video I've seen on this, with so many great tips and tricks! Thank you very much!!!
Warping is a weakness for me so this is very helpful!

That is a lot of work, but not when you enjoy it, look forward to seeing what you weave :).
You make the whole warping/weaving thing look easy. I don't know that I will ever do this
Such a lovely clear explanation, thank you so much!
You are so creative 😊
Thanks Trish! I just got a saoi warp board that I haven't tried out yet, but I learned a lot of things from this that I feel I can use with it.
Great information, I love the idea of weaving but lack of room means I can’t. I still love to watch the videos and picking up great tips.

You do a very good job of explaining what you are doing and why you are doing it.
Great video! Very well explained!
So great full for the content you post!
Planning a new warp now, so this was helpful. I wish that I could chain that tightly!! I use a wall warping board instead of a mill, but I totally want a mill!
That looks like it would work great, thanks!
Very informative, you make sense on getting the warping thread.thank you.
Hmm, maybe I should get a warping mill, that made it look very easy!
I love your video!😊
So very informative
Great information
Very interesting. Thank you!
Very interesting I have a warping board my mother in law gave me I think some day I would like a warping mill
Love your video!
Super interesting

I’ve got to know-
What is your lipstick????
Love the color!!

Exactly! Lots of people don't use that end one even if they have it
Would this method apply to using the warping peg system that can be used when you flip the rifged heddle loom ? I have the 32 inch loom.
I don’t weave, I really enjoy the videos anyhow.
I don’t weave but this is soo interesting 💜
Some day I will get my table loom warped and try weaving again

I have a warping board. I think I would like the mill better.
You make me want to get a warping mill, but I already have a warping board. 😂
How do you become a member of
Vid starts, dog barks. Murphy is sat work!
Taking careful notes on using a warping mill when I don't even have plans to get one, lol
