- Just another fun idea that didn't quite work out as expected. I wanted to fill my farm with rare mushroom trees and have them produce valuable purple mushrooms. For reasons I still do not know it did not work. Stardew Valley gameplay with my commentary as always!

Here's one more thing to learn (from me, not DF): Mushroom trees (and regular non-fruit trees too for that matter) only grow if there's not a fully grown mushroom tree directly next to it. Basically, what I do is set down flooring all around my first tree. It will still spread beyond the flooring, but it won't drop seeds where they can't grow. I also make the flooring into a grid pattern so the trees (mushroom or otherwise) are easy to get to. I just run down the rows, harvesting as I pass them.

I think what happens is they only turn purple if you manually harvest them. At 11:40 you accidentally picked one normal mushroom and you coincidentally had one purple mushroom when you harvested.

It would be super weird that the automate mod would have any affect on the type of mushroom that appears in the tapper. But knowing DF we'll never find out if you're right.

for that last purple mushroom you got, you harvested 1 boring brown mushroom by hand on the 10th and you then got exactly 1 purple mushroom from it. i wonder if the mod interferes with how the game counts harvesting?

if you go frame by frame when the mushrooms are diapering in the chest there are 57 purple in there. he harvested about 67 by hand on the 10th- the chest was acting weird so assuming it already put some in the shipping bin you could be right

hey DF, have you heard of the Ghost Town mod? it turns all the npcs into ghosts and you can use an optional map recolor that's more desaturated and you can find the deaths of all the npcs in various places (it's still in the works for adding every npc the last I saw, but plenty are already drawn)

To create any sort of tree farm, you might want to layout a grid of paths, first. If you're going for a mushroom farm, I'd harvest everything else on the map besides a few mushroom trees, then layout the grid. It pretty much guarentees everything will be connected, and makes it easier to navigate.
Also, I'd suggest having a mod made that automatically places tree sappers on every tile that will accept them on the map. It would save you a ton of work, as would the clock to keep away debris.

you musct click, look at the lasts atempts(11:40), you clicked in 1, this one was purple in the next harvest(12:14)
This video showcases when "Dangerously Funny" goes from the expectations of dangerous to me because its so funny it may cause harm.... to it's dangerously funny because it is funny, but the danger lies in the danger to the creator not the viewer.
That said, I bow down to your determination to see an idea to its cruel and bitter end for the reason of content.

I am on year 3 and still waiting for my first one to pop up...and half my field is still trees!

I've got a video idea. Fill your farm with sheds, fill those sheds with planter boxes and then fill those planter boxes with rare seeds and see the value. It should be the most valuable crop you can do legitimately without using wine or casks.

Auto Grabber Deluxe + Automate would probably harvest them all if you set the grabber to "Entire Map".

You need to put down a gold clock because the weeds and debris are appearing and getting rid of the connectors

You should put paths around your Mushroom Trees, because if any sapling is on an adjacent (including diagonals) tile, they will prevent other saplings from reaching maturity. That's what I did on my farm.
You could even place the paths beforehand so all your Mushroom Trees are on a nice grid pattern. This is what I wish I did with mine..!
Also, the reason why not all your mushrooms are purple is probably that your trees produced a mushroom before the end of the day on the 10 & 20, therefore there was already a mushroom in the tapper on the fateful Purple Mushroom day. You should have collected them at night.
And yeah, Fall is Red Mushroom season. Purple is Spring and Summer.
Edit: Oh well, turns out that's kind of what you did in the end, but for an entirely different reason!

I’ve put about a thousand hours into the game and never seen one yet on my farm. Probably because I have no trees.
You have to harvest red mushrooms on the 10th or 20th to get purple next day IIRC

An idea I have(which is more of a mod, but I'd only watch DF play around in it) is about those giant stumps on the farm.
Which is basically having them actually be able to be full grown trees and either be able to collect more hardwood or be able to turn them into customizable tree houses.

Hey DF, you should make a video telling us how to get these cool mods.
I think it would have been a good idea to guide the spread of mushroom seeds with stone floors to begin with by using stone floors. If you make a grid, you not only get far less debris, but you also get seeds only in places where the tree actually has enough space to grow fully. That maximises how many trees you get and they're all standing in an orderly fashion.
If he used the Gold Clock the debris wouldn’t appear.

the initial shroom trees only has common, yet by 5:46 in winter they all are red, does red shrooms overwrite the other shrooms in the tapper if left?

well, i put 5 mushroom boxes in my fruit bat cave (using both "CJBItemSpawner" and "Movable Mushroom Boxes" mods), so i get to pickup fruit from the cave, and the mushrooms appear, too
as for mushroom trees, i sometimes get 1, and am happy and tap it

So I have the automate mod and for some reason it doesn't work when I connect things with stone floors. Anyone know why??
Did you edit the configuration file so that it considers stone floor as connectors? Because the mod doesn't use them as connectors by default.

Funny thing is when you instal automate and you put all of your things into outside chests and then forgot roads you used to connect your house and greenhouse go from chests to shipping bin. You go sleep and then you die a little inside.

You should make a grid with walkways then plant trees in between the grid then wait for your shrooms to take over! add tappers and let automate do it's thang

Can you test if anything grown on the festival maps remain next festival.
The festivals look like the game uses a different map instead of just altering the usual town map.
Might be able to do something with maps that show up once a year.
