    This is awesome. As a blind rehabilitation professional I just wish the audience could of witnessed what the actual adaptations are besides braille labeling like bump dots and high marks (puff paint) on the stove/oven/microwave so the person with the visual impairment has a tactual reference of what the buttons are like an"x" on the cancel button ect. A liquid level indicator so the person can hear a beeping noise when the level of the liquid you are pouring is reaching near the top of the pouring container. Using apps on the phone like TapTapSee/Be My Eyes/Be Specular/Seeing AI to read labels of ingredients or identifying the objects on the table. I know Molly expressed her lack of interest in cooking and thats totally ok and I understand why she doesnt have these adaptations if its something she chooses not to do, but so the viewers know cooking/baking blind can be done without someone having to verbally describe to you everything you are doing.

    • @MrSmitheroons
      @MrSmitheroons 6 лет назад +9

      True, but like you guessed this is basically Molly's style. She only needs the liquid level thingy for hot tea for example. A clean finger is just as useful for cold liquids. I think she would set up the kitchen more accessible if she wanted to cook and bake more :P but you do have a point this is stuff you can do on your own if you want to or need to.

    • @andiesola
      @andiesola 5 лет назад +6

      I agree, I’m a blind baker and use lots of adaptations in the kitchen. I was disappointed to see that she didn’t actually do this alone like the title says (feels kind of like click-bait) and I would of loved to have seen her use other resources (like the ones you listed.) However, I also realize that she’s not making an instructional video so I guess she just isn’t equipped with or aware of these adaptations and is only showing us this as a fun, one time thing. I’m still kind of bummed about it though tbh 😜

    Such a nice thing to do for all the volunteers and an awesome way of thanking them, and I bet they appreciated the call asking what they needed.With the baking, which I do a lot of, I was getting confused with all the cups and sticks of butter. In England we have blocks of butter starting at 250g and we bake/cook by measuring ingredients out in grams or millilitres (or some recipes in ounces), so much easier than these half teaspoon or 3 cups or 2 sticks of butter. And the panic I felt at hearing 350 for the oven...then realised you don't use Celsius.

    I just graduated from a university in Thousand Oaks, I was able to see the fires as we drove to my boyfriend's house in TO last year, I moved before the recent Fall fire. Even though I no longer live there, TO and the surrounding area was my home, and I am so devastated that the area is hurting due to the fires and the shooting where we lost a beloved classmate. I am so thank you for doing this Molly, even though I don't live there it means the world that you are helping out my community

    Aw I know how they feel... We had a house fire that completely destroyed everything and we have dogs and 2 got trapped in there when they ran back in because they were scared, luckily they survived it but it is really tragic when entire neighborhoods go through that... So sad... We had to stay 7 months in a hotel so I'm so so happy that you're doing this and that they are helping those in need! You're so amazing Molly and Jake and your Mom as well! Love you all and have a wonderful day to whoever reads this!

    Molly I love your channel! I'm a Pastry Chef! My one thing I love to do is learn how to bake for all food allergies/ restrictions. I also love teaching people baking! I remember in college for on of my baking labs, one of my chefs had us blindfolded and we had to feel the different flours, sugar, salt basically all of it and we had to guess what it was! He actually tested us over it too! I'm so glad he taught us that because now I don't need my sight if something isn't labeled I just need to feel it and know what it is! And one of my coworkers she is blind! I love working with her she is such a sweet lady! I told her about your RUclips channel and she put it in her phone to check your channel out! She loves to hear about what other blind people do and how successful people who are blind are!

    One of your best videos yet Molly! Watching you bake was so fun. You make whatever you do look so fun. You are a very special and kind person. Drawing attention to the fire vicims is fantastic. With the news cycle moving so fast, a lot of people not in California have already moved on and forgotten about this tragedy. You are doing a great service bringing your camera to the volunteers center, and putting a face on the people that are volunteering their time to help others in need.
    I've been a super fan since way back before your move to the states. It's been so great watching your channel grow and seeing you having so much fun with it.
    Molly you're the best, and Gallop, well he's a good boy and such a great dog. Your mom is the best, and I think it's wonderful that you two get to work together, and have so many adventures that you can look back on for the rest of your lives.
    Have a very Merry Christmas Molly, love you to bits.

    Molly,
    Thank you so much for using your platform to raise awareness about the destruction the southern CA wildfires brought this year. My family was displaced by the fires and it has been a really difficult time for everyone. We are very grateful to the firefighters for saving our house, but many tend to forget that just because a house is still standing doesn’t mean it’s livable. Because of all the smoke and water damage, I won’t be able to see my childhood home for the holidays. I currently live in AZ and recently graduated from Arizona State University, therefore it has been very difficult for me to watch my family struggle and not be able to help due to the sheer distance.
    The Conejo Valley has really fallen on some very difficult times the past few months so the fact that you are continuing to raise awareness is absolutely amazing.
    Thank you for all you do. Love your channel ❤️
    -Beth

    I truly love Molly and what her channel is all about. She helps bridge the gap between those who are lucky enough to have been born 100% healthy and those who have a disability. She shows that people who blind, or deaf, or have other disability are normal people and they live normal lives and like to do the same things as everyone else.
    That being said, one thing that really puts me off about watching her is her constant need to harp on people for making a mistake. They make a mistake and instead of commenting and moving on she just keeps talking about it and talking about it until it comes off more as belittling than jokingly picking on them.
    Still love her channel, just my opinion on how she interacts with those around her in this video and in some of her others.
