  • 3s 4000mAh 40C Lipo, all stock RR Lentus. I was previously flying on 4s 2200mAh lipo & recommended prop which was a louder setup than the 3s & stock prop setup. A 3s setup seems a better choice to me.

    I really would love one of these! I already have the Heron and the Funray, but this is in a class of it's own. It's a major investment at the price, but boy, what a model. So elegant and efficient.......

      Hi Bernhard.
      Thank you for such a nice comment, I really appreciate it 😊 I follow your youtube channel too, and I know you are a good pilot and I like your flying style. I subbed to your channel when I saw you flying with your Funray which is currently selling at lindinger at -6% but it's still kinda expensive ... will see. I like nimble e-gliders, like the Solius but it would be great to own a little larger one too. The Lentus lacks in agility but it looks awesome in the sky ...
      Happy flying and greetings from Slovenia.

      @@AndrejSturm Thank you! Wow its cool that you have seen my channel! Jeah the prices have gone up in the last time. About two years ago when i got my funray you could get it sometimes for about 350 euros. Now its about 100 more. Never had an solius but i flew one that a friend of mine got a few times. It was a really great bird. We pushed it like crazy, the wings flexed more than i ever seen in another plane but i hold up well :D Oh you are buying at lindinger? Cool shop! Also sometimes buying there, but not too often. Im in the lucky position that i have two rc shops just about 10 min to drive away ( dmt and schweighofer). The lentus looks great to!
      Have fun and great flights!

    nice flight ! for the 4s setup the recommended prop is 8" just to do the take off from the ground with the retractable landing gear ;) otherwise you can fly with an 11x6 prop like i do on my funray (same brushless combo)

      Thank you. You could use a 3s 2200mAh lipo but that battery should have a high C rating. You would have to add some additional weight to achieve a proper CG.

      @@AndrejSturm Thanks for details Andrej. Your videos are so relaxing, I’ve started watching them during some Covid lockdown and bought an Excalibur V2 which is one of my best gliders ever. Now I’ve got a better place to fly bigger glider here in France and it’s time for Lentus!! But nothing can beat your dream flying spots!!!
      I’ve got some other questions, perhaps you can answer:
      - is there any power/climb rate difference between 3S/4S? Or only noise differences?
      - can you trim the landing gear filler part (is it epo?) to move lipo backward and play with CG?
      I plan to try some Zeee 5200 3S lipos from Amazon, 350 grams and around same size as your 4000.

    • @AndrejSturm
      @AndrejSturm  11 месяцев назад +1

      If I remember correctly there is no significant difference between a 3S/4S in climb rate. I much prefer the 3S power combo with the stock prop blades (I really don't like the noise of the higher 4s rpm on a smaller prop). I am not 100% sure but I think you could remove some of the epo material and place the lipo a little more to the back (I can't check that on my Lentus at the moment). The safest way for you would be to use a Lipo of up to 300g in weight as I have to place my 296g lipo all the way back.

      Hi, thank you.
      I am using all kinds of receivers, Spektrum, Flysky, Frsky ... because I am using a Radiomaster TX16S which is a multiprotocol radio I can easily bind to all of them. I get the best link quality and range with Flysky receivers.

      3s setup is less noisy (larger prop/lower RPM).

    Hi Andrej! On your Elapor planes, do you protect the leading edges of the wings? or control surfaces? or you wear them naked. Thank you!

    • @AndrejSturm
      @AndrejSturm  2 года назад +1

      Hi Ignacio, the Lentus RR already comes with protected leading edge on the wing. The Solius doesn't come protected and I fly it as is.

    • @isabido
      @isabido 2 года назад

      @@AndrejSturm Oops, no protection can be seen in the photos I've seen on the internet, how do they do it?
      I just bought a Multiplex Parkmaster, to make fingers, and wanted to protect the leading edges of the surfaces somewhat. Or because of your experience with Elapor, you don't see it necessary?
      Thanks!

    Hi Andrej. Really like this video, fantastic location. A few questions (I'm quite new to this) - I'm assuming that you are using the flaps as extra ailerons most of the time ? Are they set to move the same as the ailerons or are they 'low rated' ? In thermal mode do you switch to using the flaps as flaps ? I've got a V2 Phoenix 2000 and it is graceful rather than aerobatic (not necessarily a bad thing) but I'm looking to make it more responsive.
    I'm trying to learn inverted flying but I go into panic mode as soon as its upside down 🙂

    • @AndrejSturm
      @AndrejSturm  2 года назад

      Hi Jed!
      Yes, I use the flaps as extra ailerons all the time. I have set the mixing according to the Manual for the Lentus, you can find the manual online. Just practice flying and you will become a master 👍

    • @jedwoodhouse5469
      @jedwoodhouse5469 2 года назад +1

      @@AndrejSturm Thanks Andrej. Had a look at the manual, very comprehensive control surface instructions. Wasn't expecting to see the aileron travel different between up and down (24mm v. 11mm). I've swapped out the 6 channel receiver for an 8 channel and created a mix where I can have just ailerons, ailerons plus supporting flaps at two different rates or normal flaps. I'll need to experiment to get the flap settings right. Managed to fly my z-84 flying wing upside down for 5 seconds yesterday so getting better 🙂Cheers.
