Lyrics:
[Lupe: talking]
You know I had to do it, man. It wouldn'ta been right if I didn't. You seen it? You seen the show last night on TV? You seen nigga's rims man? You seen the new Jordans man? You see her ass yo? Yeah, yeah, that's crazy.
[Singing:]
Seein' with my ghetto eyes
I walkeded with my ghetto feet
I talkeded with my ghetto speech
I'm copasetic, I won't let it bring me down
Bring me down...
I say it's enstilled
As I peep from beneath the titled brim of my pinwheel
Steady mobbin', heavy problems
Genocide resynthesize to violence, makes it hard to sympathize
Harden, individuals whose feelings is miniscule
Soon become criminals if you dark-skinned
And you was raised in a project apartment
Public Aid made it that your father couldn't stay
He had to part then, left with only a mother
The family structure suffers
He will soon cling to hustlers, as his guardians
He still a boy, needs to fill a void, marchin'
Up the block up to no good, sellin' in the wrong hood
He was taken down by a marksmen
At his wake, 8th Grade Graduation picture
Last words: Don't let the habitation get ya
Pardoned, Lord have mercy on the fallen
Amen, feel like I'm hardened
Got the harbinger for the coming of the carpenter
Til then, I got some big fish to fry like Marlins
Part niggas, steady mobbin'
[Chorus:]
I've got some questions to ask, and I'm waitin' on some answers
Like, Why do the good die young? Why ain't there no cure for cancer?
Won't let the streets dicatate my glory
Cuz it's something out there for me
But I'ma flee my territory
So I won't end up, just a ghetto story
Just a ghetto story, just a ghetto story
Just a ghetto story, just a ghetto story
And I try to see past it
Through the down-roll window on the driver side of my Caprice Classic
Steady mobbin', corner store traffic
i.e. dope fiends, hookers and teens with alcohol IVs
I see, plastic, cups is a nickel, 50 cent for Dutch Masters
My big brother's Pelle Pel' lingers of a fargone weed smoke
Lookin' for greener pastures, pasturized 2% for $2.19
You can get 2 quarts, there's also a sale on Newports
A seperate line for Lotto, bumpy face, add a model
Huggin' a bottle, salt and sour Jays, and blueberry Hugs
Shorties consider a meal, been my feel for it
Sweatin' for a pair of Air Jordans they would steal for
And a gold chain 4 fiends would knife, wild and kill yours
There's nothing too promising on our billboards
Drink Tanqueray, eat KFC, come abort your child
Buy Nikes, which makes it highly unlikely that we gon' fight, G
Steady mobbin'
[Chorus:]
I've got some questions to ask, and I'm waitin' on some answers
Like, Why do the good die young? Why ain't there no cure for cancer?
Won't let the streets dicatate my glory
Cuz it's something out there for me
But I'ma flee my territory
So I won't end up, just a ghetto story
Just a ghetto story, just a ghetto story
Just a ghetto story, just a ghetto story
And I'm still on
As I stroll down the same street so many like me once before, were killed on
Steady mobbin', thinkin' bout the Black Panthers
And the babies that were born in the late '80s
That now have babies that lack Pampers
No Kwaanzas and they lack Santas
And the father who thinks shoe-shopping is the answer
Skipped out on parenthood classes so she don't know how to handle her
And never learned from her grandmother
One day got hot, couldn't take it, dropped her in a vacant lot
Album of Life, now condensed into a sampler
See the shapes these little girls is gettin'?
Somethin' say the steroids in the chicken is the cause of the thickening in the young women
Livid, see some shorties playin' Cops & Robbers, livin'
Bittersweet thoughts is what I had for them
I can picture colder feelin' Police chasin' after them
Catchin' up to, friskin' and askin' them
Where the packs at? Who yo' cheif is? Where the straps at?
Am I thinking too hard? Or perhaps that's reality
In a project mentality, but through it all
I hope we learn more than how to be whores and how to move a ball
Steady mobbin'
[Chorus:]
I've got some questions to ask, and I'm waitin' on some answers
Like, Why do the good die young? Why ain't there no cure for cancer?
Won't let the streets dicatate my glory
Cuz it's something out there for me
But I'ma flee my territory
So I won't end up, just a ghetto story
Just a ghetto story, just a ghetto story
Just a ghetto story, just a ghetto story Видеоклипы
lupe at his finest this might just be his best song
Btwn this and Hurt Me Soul
@@leonidastheking1185I’d say it’s failure
Still rocking this joint in November 2023!!! ❤
Jan 2024!!! ❤️
This song almost brought tears to my eyes one time. Its 2 real. Only ppl who know the ghetto can relate.
This !!!!! 9 years later
that first verse had the greatest opening line to any verse. ever
calm down lol
no he's kind of right lol,
Danny Brown - EWNESW first verse has the best opening line 😉
LUPE FIASCO IS THE GREATEST RAPPER OF ALL TIME. (THIS HAS BEEN A PSA)
Fax
I knew it, its the same sample as Common's "The Light(2008)". I heard the guitar in the background and i was like i knew it.
I heard this on college radio weeks before food and liquor dropped. It's even more relevant now than it was then.
One of my favorite songs by him 💯💯💯💯
is there a more lyrically underrated hip hop song than this? No.
now that lupe is off atlantic, hopefully he can go back to makin tracks like this.
LUPE IS IN A LEAGUE OF HIS OWN ONE CONCIUS RAPPER THAN DOESNT SOUND TOO PREACHY I HATE THAT PREACHING HIPHOP BUT LUPE ELEVATED IT ON ANOTHER LEVEL
+SEECH7 I think Immortal Technique does a good job as well. The major difference between them is that Lu has a lot of deeper meanings that can be extracted from his songs while Technique gets the point across without being preachy. Give him a shot.
"for the comin of the carpenter" lOl
the way Lu flip shit shit is ill
thumbs up if this shoulda been on the official album!!
This beat was Sooo Cold, and the message was so profound.
Summer 2024
Magical Lyrics Lupe !! Luv ya to bits
Man i love these smooth Lupe, Kanye and Common songs. Does anyone have any recommendations?
one of the best rappers the world has ever seen ! very gifted, he keeps the rap alive
This takes me back to the days I walked the tracks at 3pm or at 3am in Detroit. Man being young was definitely better back in the early 2000s. At least then there was a freedom and no risk of being all over social media. This song takes me back- but I'm in college now and this degree not going to get itself.
I feel you on that bruh, I'm an undergraduate now and I do miss the 2000s when everything felt simpler
*mid 2000s
***** mid 2000s = 2020-2050 in there.
2000s=2000-2009.
mid-00s = 2004-2006
***** how are you rounding this?
Steady MOB’in. #ClassicLu.
Beautiful.
Lupe is underated. this is a great song
he's just so intricate with his rhymes that it can reach out to anybody, bad thing is you seldom hear him on the radio, so less people listen too him, it's too deep for the party list, which isn't a bad thing at all
top 5 Lupe songs for me
Lupe is the best thing going in hip hop right now. Mainstream or Underground. Most of his mixtapes are just as good as his albums.
I LUV IT
i know man, it's a shame that there's still alot of people that don't recognize how talented Lupe is.
WOW very good song neva heard it before +I'm lovin it+
I love his music this what we lack
this is beautiful
i love these lyrics :D
A Steppers Jam Still playing this
no MC has ever made better poetry
one of his best songs
" why do the good die young, why ain't there no cure for cancer"
Cruising to the sweet tune.
its a damn shame this mans retiring. he's a lyrical mastermind
My head just starts dancing on its own, when i play this SONG MAN.
this message is so true
lupe is legit the best.
Now that I think of it... in most of his songs... Lupe takes old skool rap songs meanings, and flows with it on some New Skool rap beats....
SICK!, this beet is amazing. at first i was like "i dunno, kinda dirty" but i gave it a chance and im glad i did. This song is great!
Lupe 4eva
Goodness what a great rap song!!
Loved this song by him I can ride to this in my car on repeat 🔂
Chi-Town love Lupe is that dude love his shit real hip-hop..

Lupe THE Fiasco!!!!
Classic lupe
yeeah i hear u! i listen 2 this wenever im stressed an it calmz me RIIGHT down lol xoxo S.B
well I'm glad that Lupe isn't gonna retire yet
The Great American Rap Album in June 2009, two following albums in December 2009 and June 2010, with LupE.N.D. following afterward.
i cant wait!
shit dawg... who else got goosebumps?
the begining is so live!
nuff respect from the netherlands!!
this is why i mess with lupe dawg
He should of saved this for F&L. This is classic Lupe!
it's a funny thing but I actually have to hear this song every now and then... like once a month... been that way since getting the album when it came out...
hell yeh .
Wow....all i gotta say.....Lupe is the realest rapper alive
This record is great-Monroe
i guess it must be natural for people to dislike things they dont understand
Lupe Fiasco proves that Conscious or Underground music > Party or Mainstream music
thumbs up if you think lu is not mainstream enough
it is
@gottalovetonic It should register a like for every second of the song. I like this song x 352...sounds about right
this shit fire
It don't get any realer than this. If I was to write a book or something it'll be based off this song right here
@stockton209kid its a good thing that lupe isnt mainstream enough, the moment he gets too mainstream his music will just get worst and worst. mainstream kills good music, because the moment rappers get a taste of it they either just want more and more and cant get enough, or they get stuck in it n stop producing good music. mainstream is all about the money, the message or lyrical quality dont mean shit anymore once you hit it big
@LupeF0rLife14 i agree man. wayne has lyrical skill he jus does nothing with it. lupe on the other hand is delivering a message
Seein' with my ghetto eyes
I walkeded with my ghetto feet
I talkeded with my ghetto speech
I'm copasetic, I won't let it bring me down
Bring me down...
SHOUT OUT TO EVERYONE
PEACE & LOVE
RIP NIPSEY
Around my way
@lahij
Lowkey is Fire, All love for that Artist..
But Lu [in my opinion] is number one.
Got some big fish to fry like Marlins.
damn he's dope
they ask is this his day to day cause tihs is like a week to us
@Ev0lAnnA hahah i got an eye for that!!well of course we all need money and most of us would do the same as he did but there are always 2 sides and im sure he dont like lasers but he had to do it cos he need the money, its like a job you dont like but you have to do it!!
thanks the name is actually taken from the Blu and Exile songs,if you like lupe im sure you will like their album too!!besides the music is nice to talk with you,cos usually especially the hip hop heads if you dont agree with
@tmaccome This was on the "first" version of Food & Liquor. Then the album got leaked and he damn near re-did the whole album.
This is the same beat in The light 2008(it's love) by Common. Check it out!
I heard that originally he was gonna retire after making LupEND but then I heard hes gonna come out with three albums before LupEND and one of the albums is called Lasers. anyone kno if this is tru?cuz Lupe my fav artist and id hate it if he retired, considerin hes one of the few GOOD (yet strangely underrated) artist out right now
Cool for the Steppers!!!
I think I found REAL modern rap.
@SolidSnake240 and his mixtape had sum real deep lines and references
he's got questions to ask
Free Chilly!!!!!!!!!!!!
I need this song how can I get it it’s not Apple Music
5 people thought dislike was "dis i like"
they should get rid of the dislike button in my opinion
this beat is off the hook
Heyyy Lupe
I can't download this jam on itunes, amazon or cdbaby. I can't find any straight-up fly tunes.
@kexim08 Yes I like that, this is real music here,
I don't like this kind of hip hop music..i prefear old skool cuts and hard hip hop but this track is dope! i like it very much...great artist Lupe Fiasco!
it was dropped off of the first album
@Kceedude which mixtape?
@Crazypimpin310 what does smh mean? I hear a lot of my friends say that on facebook
@SparksMentalz what sample is this?
It's from the original Food & Liquor.
