I love the idea of looking back on our lives and seeing the regenerations of ourselves. I think it gives us so much more freedom to grow and change, and at the same time, look back on our past selves with kindness more than judgment. This is something I’ve been struggling with, so I want to thank you for introducing this idea!

I love this video and feel it so much. I'm 24 and I feel like the formative years in my early twenties were taken away because of covid and I'm only now starting to think about who I am as a person and getting the help that I need to become that person. I'm sure others would also agree that we can see the changes you've made in the last year and see how happy you've become.

I am only 26 but I already have a lot of regret about how things have happened in my life and how I have dealt with things, but I love now that I can look back as you have and realise that I just didn't know at the time and I was a different version of myself. I hope we all keep growing and learning how to deal with this crazy thing called life and whatever is thrown at us! Happy that you have found the happiness you have 💕

I am so judgemental with myself because during all my 20s I felt really lost and vulnerable to people who end out hurting me.

Oh Carrie. None of us ‘let’ ourselves be manipulated. The way manipulation works is we don’t realise it is happening. And loving someone and trusting the person we love can only be seen as a bad thing when THEY turn out to have treated us badly.

This was so beautiful to hear right now. I feel like I am currently going through a "regeneration" right now and I can see myself changing and growing before my own eyes. I am turning 24 soon with this deep seeded loneliness and I have no idea how or where to make connections with people. The fact that you found your people in your mid 20s is a wonderful thing to hear right now

This is so peculiar to watch knowing that I’ve been here with you every step of the way. I was there at the beginning, I remember “boys in books are better”. I have a signed copy of “All I Know Now”. I remember you moving into your flat, I remember you on each tour that you went on. It’s so surreal to realize I remember each of these “regenerations” of you, that I was there with you and loved each one of them. I feel like I’ve grown up with you, and have seen you mature and grow into the wonderful person you are now. While you may view certain parts of your life with distain or pity, just know that there’s someone out there that loved each and every one of them, and will continue to do so. You are a wonderful person Carrie, and I’m so thrilled to be here for whatever your journey may bring.

I've watched your channel for about a decade now and seeing you grow into the wonderful person you are today has been incredible. I've never thought of my life in this regeneration sort of way but maybe that's something I start doing. The last few years have been tough to say the least. Not only did lockdown isolate me physically, but emotionally and mentally too. I lost all confidence in myself and my abilities (not that I had much in the first place). This year has already been a fresh start for me. I graduated with a distinction in my masters degree and have recently started a new job that I'm so passionate about. The new environment has given me a new sense of purpose and confidence and I feel the most like myself that I ever have done. Thank you for being a part of my journey, even if you arent aware of it ❤

To be honest, Carrie. I've loved every minute of this journey with you. I haven't been diligent at every video as others may have. But I love to check in on things once in a while. Turning 26 this year, along with a whole load of others, you've been a lovely bonus of constant unashamed you, which may not feel like the same to you. Obviously, we have all been evolving, but the you you show us is insightful, mature, thoughtful and creative. And I thank you so much for the time you've taken to let us all in to your life in this way. Much love and hope for a bright and bubbly future for us all ❤I haven't left a comment in ruddy years, but for you, I think it's important for you to know you're great 😊👋

Carrie I adored this video! Listening to you talk about the different versions of yourself really resonated with me today. I’m 26 and going though some big changes in my career, something I thought would look entirely different a few years ago. I’ve learned from my past self to not listen too much to others opinions of what I should be doing with my life, I spent so long hung up on that and ended up feeling hugely unfulfilled. Hearing you speak about your past self with such kindness has encouraged me to do the same. Thank you! ❤

Carrie, thanks for sharing your journey. One of the reasons I watch your videos is because I always wanted to be a musical theatre performer and it never happened, so I kind of like to see the behind-the-scenes of what it would be like. At 45, one of the things you said at the end about how you're really now at a place where you've taken certain parts of your previous selves and come to a version that you really like - I think that's a journey everyone goes through in some way or another and it can't be done without living and growing up. The reason you love yourself now, is because you learned lots of things from those other versions of you. The details are different for everyone, but we all sort of grow up and go "Oh. Wow. I had no CLUE when I was a kid." LOL Thanks for sharing your lives with us.

Carrie, recently the filmed version of your appearance in Les Miserable debuted on the silver screen as a Fathom Events presentation at theaters here in the United States.... To me, hearing your name heralded in the promotional advertisements (TV commercials) as one of the performers, after watching you and your exes' videos for over a decade, to me that ad spot confirmed you're officially a celebrity in your own right. I was one of those out-of-demographic audience members of the Chitty tour when I was visiting the UK at the time. I remember waiting outside for at least an hour by stage door and there were a number of renowned actors walking by that nobody looked twice at. I was an early 20 something year old with a funky haircut at the time and I remember feeling so ashamed when some of the managing staff were openly scoffing at the crowd of teenagers with funky haircuts waiting solely for you without any recognition to the other talent in the show. I wasn't disappointed that you didn't show though, the performance was lovely and I went into it fully knowing that I'd paid for the show, not a stage door appearance. In the weeks following you actually posted a video addressing how overwhelming stage door was for you at the time and it just confirmed what I'd suspected. It's nice to look back and reflect on how things have changed for you and perhaps also how your audience (read: me) has matured in that time as well

It's also incredibly possible to be self-aware, recognizing there are things that aren't perfect about yourself and actively working on yourself, AND still love who you are. It's sad that your self-love has to be justified/explained. Loving yourself doesn't mean you think you're perfect, but you're right in thinking some people will interpret it that way. I've been a viewer since very nearly the beginning and I've grown alongside you (on my own journey, obviously) and I just have to say I'm incredibly proud to see how far you've come. This video gave me a lot of feelings. I'm 28, and used to watch all of your videos when we were teenagers/early 20s; you were (are) a bit older than me, but only a bit, and I really loved hearing your thoughts and feelings on things. 'When did you become the version of yourself that you feel like you are now' is one of my favourite questions to ask people, and has been for a while (I've heard a lot of good answers), so of course I watched this video despite not being as hooked on youtube any more. I have no right to comment on your life, as we have WILDLY different experiences, but I just wanted to say
    1) I always hugely admired how you seemed to be coping with things - I didn't know the half of what was going on e.g. f**cked up written abuse, but even just the theatre life and fame seem like such an emotional rollercoaster. I know you get to choose what you present to the world on your channel, but how insightful and kind your thoughts often are is super lovely. Not in a like 'she's so perfect' way, but in a 'this person who in some ways is quite similar to me seems like a really good soul, and maybe I can be like that too' way. I sometimes think about my past self, and I don't usually have much judgement, although of course there are things I'm particularly proud / not proud of - I usually just want to hug her and tell her she's trying really hard and doing the best she can. You had to deal with many more complex issues than I did; all I'm trying to say is that it sounds really rough, I'm sorry, and you're wonderful.
    2) I'm so glad you're feeling so good about things now

Wow Carrie, it's so interesting to listen and hear your experiences and know that you've gone through all that and still tried to be the best version of yourself at each point.
I know for a fact that I am a completely different person now to who I was when I was 18-21 years old and that's ok, because I like who I am right now and feel I can be more of who I want to be. Somethings I have done slowly and thought about for a long time and others I've just gone f it let's do it. Everyone is different and has their own boundaries and hurdles to cross when they feel ready and that is perfectly OK.
It really can take its toll on you both physically and mentally when you are your in a bad situation or time and just by stepping away and viewing it from different angles you realise how to make you, you again or a better version of you.

Thank you for sharing your regenerations and your reflections on these regenerations with us. Although I feel stagnant in some ways, this video makes me want to dig a little deeper into myself to see who I've been over the past 10 years and who I have the chance to be going forward

Your voice is incredible and I'm so glad you're happy. BTW are you ever going to visit all 4 Disney parks in the same year?

Carrie, he had us ALL FOOLED. He had me fooled FOR SURE. I can't imagine what it must have been like for you when that news broke. I was just a fangirl on the outside and I still remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when I heard the news. It really shook me. My boyfriend I was with at the time did not understand why I was so upset. I'm around the same age as you and have been here since the beginning and I remember you and all the other women affected handling it SO well. Sending you lots of love to all your versions from the USA

The beauty of getting older is learning. I was in a very emotionally abusive relationship from age 19-21 and now at 28, I look back and wonder how I ever allowed that person to do that to me. If anyone tried it now, I'd send them packing. It's interesting to look back and see how far we have come ❤️❤️ Its mad to think I've been watching your videos for nearly a decade!!

That’s such a cool way of reflecting! I love the idea and it works so wonderfully. The ability to look back on your past with less judgement and more sympathy is such an important thing I think, to acknowledge that you did the best with the knowledge you had - something I still struggle to do 😅
Also it’s so evident in the way you just came into your full sparkle at the end of the video just how happy you are and it’s beautiful to see!

    • @Carrie
      @Carrie  Год назад +13

Thanks so much! So glad you enjoyed watching! I've found as you get older, judgement takes a lot more effort that acknowledgement, acceptance and moving on. I'm tired of judgement both of and from myself so I'm trying to make the conscious decision to just embrace and let go.
