"Father's Day" is brilliant, it really reset what the stakes for a Doctor Who episode could be all about. Billie Piper gave an absolutely devastating, heartbreaking performance. Just brilliant...one of the best things ever done on the show. She nearly matched it with "The Christmas Invasion". There have been lots and lots of great companions...but Rose will always be special.
Brilliant or fantastic?
Billie is still so beautiful! It's so nice hearing her and Christopher Eccleston talk about Doctor Who nearly 20 years later bring me back to the joy of my childhood
I met Billie back in 2019, I believe. She is an awesome person. I am grateful for the opportunity to meet her.😊
Didn't expect to watch the whole video but Billie is so well spoken and charming and you can see the love she has for the show and the fans
She was brilliant in PENNY DREADFUL. Her acting in that deserved an Emmy or some award. The show grew to suck big time but Billie's acting throughout was great but when her character rebelled against Dr. Frankenstein and all men, she really acted up a storm! Beyond great. Best modern day companion!
Agreed. Her performance in that was incredible
That's just the Penny Dreadfull curse, it was an amazing ensemble cast, but the producers and writers were too fixated on one single character as the end all be all of the show.
The best companion EVER. Some great ones followed, but for me Rose and Tenants Doctor will always be my perfect Doctor and Companion.
Elisabeth Sladen?
Me personally, I think Donna was better. But that’s just what I think personally
@@sirlancelet2416 Donna was brilliant.
Rose & 9 were better imo. I think Donna works best with 10. Weirdly I wish we got to see Martha with 11 or 12.
Hated the romance angle.Still find it creepy an inappropriate that an immortal timetravel hooked up with a young, impressionable human companion. But Who is silly. Piper is a great actress.
I hadn't seen doctor who in about 12 years or something and my family and I recently started rewatching it. And I am just in love with Billie's acting! Everything had a motive, every movement. Rose bites her nails, she slouches when she sits, the way she leans. I don't know how to explain it but the behaviour and movement just made it obvious who Rose is, a young outspoken and bored young woman. When Rose cried, I bawled my eyes out, when she laughed, I laughed with her. Just amazing acting.
Mentioning the Christmas lights in Cardiff absolutely hits home. I was there that day as the fresh seven year old Whovian they'd turned me into.
Man I miss early NuWho.
She was my first crush in the celebrity world “because she wants to” and she’s my favourite companion closely followed by Martha jones
DOOMSDAY and FATHER'S DAY are two of my favorites. Also EMPTY CHILD/DOCTOR DANCES.
I hope we eventually get the 2005 series added to Doctor Who:The Collection Blu-ray releases. I would love to have Behind the Sofa commentaries from BiIlie Piper and Christopher Eccelstone, especially as the 20th anniversary of that season is approaching.
There was a release of Series 1 a few yrs ago, when they started to release all the series on blu-ray, but for some reason after series 1 it was abandoned. The disc came with a trading card. You might look for a used copy but good luck! I'm not selling mine!!
This guy deserves appreciation for being a cool and calm interviewer, unlike most interviewers at cons who are awkward as hell
You deserve appreciation for thinking this guy doesn't come across as awkward.
JEESSSUUSSS she does not age. perks of hanging out with a time lord i guess.
Bernard Cribbins was in the Dr Who: Dalek Invasion movie which starred Peter Cushing.
Rose was the first companion I ever witnessed and David was my first doctor age ten at the time 😂 last companion I watched was Clara and last doctor was Peter , I'm hoping I get back into it with David of course and then the new doctor and his companion who look very 2005 feels which im loving ❤
Back in 1980, the Public Broadcasting Network started showing Dr. Who with Tom Baker and his companions Leela and Romana. They took it off the air in between the regeneration and the 5th Dr. Who, so I was a very confused 10 year old. Lol. I had no idea why he was a completely different person.
It wasn't until decades later that I finally got back in due to having access to the BBC.
She needs to do Mighty Hoopla here in the U.K. It CELEBRATES artists like Billie and she’d have a ball. They’ve tried but no luck so far. But I think that’s how she should approach ‘music’. Purely for the nostalgia, no pressure, just celebratory.
💐
Rose's appearance in the series 4 episode Partners In Crime was a surprise
She’s so well spoken and Rose was the best companion in Doctor Who
I had (and still have!) a crush on Billie. This was a good era for the series, such great companions for the first 10 years at least.
My favourite character in fiction ROSE 🌹 TYLER
I wasn't there, but I was happy to find her on RUclips. Watched it all, and Cris, and Jodie, Mandip and Karen. I wish I was there!
Roes is my second favourite doctor who is a companion
She is as pretty as always even after almost 20 years
Thank you for uploading this! I was most looking forward to her panel!
Jesus she's gorgeous
Damn Russel make that happen. Children in need Rose and Ten in the parallel universe
Billie's great....the interviewer bugged me though. Her words make things make more sense. I never heard her as a singer and she always seemed so strong as an actor that it seemed that a singing background seemed off. Now it makes sense, her acting has always been so supremely good. She was also phenomenal in Penny Dreadful.
Billie we love u we love the character we love your roles keep up the great work!
If her hair was still blonde, she would look just like she did in 2005
8:48
Wow I never knew she was a number one artist
She has hair like Martha ❤
you know the sound the tardis makes? it brings hope to people ...no matter how lost...even you.....
what a rare woman. she got even more attractive after all these years. not an easy feat
BILLIE WOULD KILL AS FEMALE DEADPOOL WOW
4:44
Billie piper is still a good looking lady.
Billie's great and this was a great interview but it's completely wrong to call her the 'prototype of companions'. That was Carole Ann Ford as Susan.
With a followup by the great Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane. Sarah Jane was the first companion who could counter the doctor in verbal banter. I know she started with the third doctor, but she stil is my favorite companion.
@@rboltong040465 Yeah, Sarah Jane and Elisabeth Sladen were great. I was always happy that she was the first classic companion to return.
I feel like she is the prototype of New Who’s companions. Young, attractive, female, modern day. The majority of companions have followed that, and also been explored more outside of the TARDIS, the way Rose was.
Carole Ann was never a "companion", she was the Doctor's granddaughter. And the interviewer was clearly referring to the new series launch in 2005
@@cosmicphil4445 Which makes her th 'prototype' and you can still be related to someone and be their companion if you accompany them on their journey.
He wasn't clearly referring to anything. He was wrong.
I remember when I first came across Billie's song Honey to the Bee. It was okay, but not great, but she did come up with some better songs later on.
Billie's music was some of the definitive music of my teenage years, and I love it all to this day.
thank you so much for uploading!
I can't believe she was married to Lawrence Fox, can't see them together.
I wish someone would ask her if she experienced anything on the set of Season 1 that was really bad, since it made Chris leave and still say Some people I had to work with, were horrible.
Donna is still the best.
These guys are way too chill, had to play it on 1.5 speed hahaha
Sounds to me like you need to chill out.
Billie is in the 60th. Definitely.
Oh I hope so, but I don’t know 😢 it would be perfect and I don’t understand why they wouldn’t ask her and she seems so down for it but you know I feel like she probably won’t be
@tawnys6172 No, she definitely is. I can tell by the vagueness in her response, her hesitancy, and the little touch of the face at the end. I would absolutely say she is in it!
@@charliedavidarnott1537 I really hope your right! You have gave me hope 😊
@tawnys6172 Let's both hope. I really feel like she is in it!
Well, she's either in the 60th, or she's coming back in Ncuti's series. One of the two.
Tooth & Claw is the no.1 best episode Dr. Who ever did
Lulu did it at 15,shes not the only one Eric wrote his first song at 12.
Billie Piper looks like she hasn't aged at all
She's been the Doctor the whole time.
Such a goddess
You would think Eccleston and Piper would interview together if they actually got along... they were both literally at this convention at the same time! I know Eccleston has his reasons but I've always felt he hung onto animosity against the wrong people
He was only there on the previous day.
You could try to claim the same about her and David Tennant, too, though. Also, the point of these interviews is interviewing the specific person, I'm pretty sure. Not to mention, judging by what one of the audience members mentioned abut having met her and Christopher Eccleston the day before, it sounded like they were in fact by each other.
@@peterlewis2178 I guess that’s fair. I just think I’d be much more interested to see them interact, especially with how frosty Eccelston has been about the production since. Seems like he never let it go but recently there been this U-turn and honestly I’d love to see him show up in the 60th. But it’s more likely Eccelston is just cashing in…
@@terminatrix92He’s back after some long term healing from the domestic violence he was experiencing during his stint as the Doctor. He’s spoken about this quite extensively.
@@schoolingdiana9086 I think he had many issues that culminated during his tough stint at Doctor Who. But they were restarting a show from scratch and Eccelston didn’t have the fortitude for that. Tennant has never once complained about bullying or mistreatment during that time, neither have the following companions. His perspective is fair but it’s still subjective
The audience didn't ask the ultimate question.
"Which of the newer or Older Doctors would Billie have liked to / or would like to work with?"
Would have loved to see her work with Peter Davidson or Jon Pertwee from Classic who. Though Pattrick Troughton would have been Hillarious to work with.
I'm pretty sure that Smith or Capaldi would be absolutely awesome.
It would be strange seeing Billie working with Jodie, though maybe it would have been better, as long as the story allowed for a proper charecter development and the story was actual good.
I've heard her answer that elsewhere--it's the 8th Doctor, in the movie (unfortunately I'm not remembering his name at the moment). She and Matt Smith are neighbors.... Hartnell, McCoy, Troughton, or Tom Baker would have worked well, too.
@@ROCdave5861Paul McGann is his name. He’s great, though his movie isn’t with him being the best part of it. He really thrives in the Big Finish audio though, his adventures are really good and he’s a great Doctor despite his like two canon on screen moments.
Is that her real hair color because it suits her MUCH more than blonde.
It's dyed, she's a natural blonde.
She's naturally brunette so it's slightly darker than her natural but it suits her so much!
@@KatieRuby You might be right about her being brunette. I only went as far back as her acting career, not her singing.
@@Elwaves2925She’s not a natural blonde. You can always tell by their eyebrows. Eyebrows are only one shade darker than hair color. Hers are dark brown, almost black. This is her natural hair color, in this video.
@@schoolingdiana9086 Thanks. I already addressed that she wasn't a natural blonde in the comment abouve yours but cheers for the extra info. I didn't go far enough back when I looked and a site I stumbled on said natural blonde so I went with it.
However, she clearly has dyed hair in this video, her natural hair is dark brunette but not as dark as this. You can see it in her early singing career. This stands out as being dyed as much as peroxide blonde does. 🙂
Sounds just like Emilia Clarke. Not far off looking like they could be sisters either.
She doesn't age...
IK, it's like she's a timelord 😵💫😂
Honestly seeing how much the 2000s era cast has aged breaks my heart sometimes :')
This dude didn’t know the name of her character
Billie always seems baked.
It's called being jet-lagged!
Remember to keep comments respectful and follow the community guidelines But I can't I started with the doctor with Christopher And rose AKa Billy Piper To the point my first wife Used to call me handsome Jack It breaks My heart As someone who has dealt with family members with addiction You can't tell me that Billy is not high on Coke right now When you're watching the people ask questions her eyes are almost rolled back in her head As someone who has a sister who is addicted to cocaine and who has dealt hours talking to them It's just sad I don't knows what she done with plastic surgery age or dying her hair she is not the beautiful girl that I fell in love with
She seems to have a super blasé manner of speaking and moving when she's not in character. There are interviews with her after wrapping up recordings with Camille for Big Finish, and she acts the same way. Not to say she isn't on something - she might be, but she's never kept her partying life much of a secret.
Back to ride the dead horse. The Doctor died years ago.
That’s why there are classic Doctor Who rerun marathons twice a year. 🙄 And why there’s a 60th anniversary being filmed right now. 🙄🙄🙄
@@schoolingdiana9086 Classic’s fine add in led everything up until Capaldi season first season then the Doctor died and the 60th anniversary is just flogging a dead horse.
If you don’t like it, why bother engaging? Move on from Doctor Who if you think it’s dead.
@@philipturner9087David Tennant, Catherine Tate and Bernard Cribbins are all coming back for the 60th anniversary and then the new doctor is being played by Ncuti Gatwa with over big time actors appearing like Neil Patrick Harris and Jonathan Groff and you think all this news isn’t going to bring excitement back to the show? 🙄 Russel T Davies is returning as show runner. Doctor Who is going to be fine
@@philipturner9087 If you're unhappy with the show and moved on, you wouldn't be in a RUclips video posting nastygrams. It sounds to me like you're not over it and it isn't quite as dead as you imagine it should be. If you are unable to move on, I suggest a qualified therapist rather than trolling RUclips comments.
Before Billie nobody in the world know what Doctor Who is, dont freaking keep telling this lie, it was not a thing before them, they created global doctor who and chibnel destroyed it.
Dude, Doctor Who has always been global. Tom Baker wasn’t known globally for it? Or Elizabeth Sladen? And some of the best loved episodes of the reboot were written by Chibnall. He’s the one who brought in the character of Kate Stewart. Your post has to be an attempt at comedy writing.
Nobody in the world lol. It’s been running since 1963 my friend…..I kinda think it would’ve gained some traction since then don’t ya think 🙄
Doesn't the fact that the 60th anniversary is coming up give you a clue?! It's been on TV since 1963.
@@schoolingdiana9086I agreed up until the "best loved episodes" part. He did give us Kate Stewart but his episodes are not loved.
What the hell are you talking about? It was particularly huge in the 70s under Tom Baker
