The Stena Carisma that used to travel from gothenburg has been parked in the port of gothenburg for quite a few years now and it's always a sad sight. But it's better than scrapped, I guess...
Sad to see such a great ship leave the fleet, considering it was the biggest fast car ferry in the world! still miss her!, the superfast are okay but i would prefer my HSS back :P
Sad day when this went out of service had many happy holidays in Ireland all ways a great site to see it coming into hollyhead the Holliday allways started once we had boarded 99 minutes from hollyhead to dun laogharie we will never see a ferry like that again high running cost put paid to that
irelandbloke Haha, maybe you are right there mate but I think Ireland is larger than Singapore and Hong Kong though :). Also Ireland has some awesome trains just like Japan does. As the 201 Class with the MkIV's is the Shinkansen of Ireland :).
I am currently working on the way to revive fast ocean transportation. Its the next frontier in the saga of mans’ ongoing efforts to overcome the problems of moving faster on the face of our planet.
@@alexv8051 they have been designing rocket propelled roller skates for a number of years in Mexico. They just don't have the regulations there so it's a good place to test these type of contraptions before they hit the mainstream countries. Only 49 people have died so far but the technology is slowly improving.
What was I supposed to see to substantiate your claims of size and speed? The most exciting thing was when it made a Starboard turn at five minutes and going so slowly sea gulls were passing it. It was like watching a mystery in which the interesting bits and pieces occurred off stage. For an interesting ferry ride check the ones in New Zealand or Nova Scotia. I'm sure you meant well but....just what did your mean?
Dublin to Holyhead is is 60 miles. The regular ferries take 3 hrs. 30 mins. The Fast ferry took only 90 minutes. Figure it out. I did not o at speed in harbour for safety reasons. Once out of out of Dublin Bay her turn of speed was spectacular.
traintrax24 Roblox and more Yes still around but last I heard Discovery was sold to Turkish scrappers after being laid up in first Venezuela and later in Curacao since 2009. www.interferry.com/second-stena-hss-to-be-scrapped/
+kpetters Apparently it is being stripped out and turned into housing, a floating block of flats. No idea where it will end up but sometime soon 2 tugs are going to take it away. It costs too much to run fuel wise and is currently costing £24,000 a month to keep it docked. It's been sold for £2,000.000

This is NOT the biggest fast ferry in the world both the Spirit of Tasmaina' 2 fast ferries at 29.000 tons and 31knots that sail between Melbourne and Devonport are bigger and faster HSS Explorer,
HSS had service speed of 40kn, both Spirit of Tasmania ferries are considered superfast, not high speed with a service speed of 30.8kn. Superfast and HSS are two different classes of ships.
Nope, a little operation near Hobart, Tasmania makes the largest and fastest cruising at 60 knots... This one appears to be stuck on a mud/sand bar and looks significantly underpowered WTF???
I went on this Ferry to Belfast. Great memories. It's really impressive. Just the consumption was far too high.

These boats are amazing and I'm glad the explorer is still in service
No it's not
@@MrJaguar747 did you even notice that his comment was posted when it was in active service?
How I miss this incredible ferry😪
I drove that a couple of times, so sad it's gone. Now takes 3 and half hours to do the sailing that hss used to do in 90 min :(
Wow are you still a captain
Used to like this crossing to Dun Laoghaire. Driver restaurant was nice so was the food.also liked Dun Laoghaire port free coffee showers tv .
HSS Explorer renamed One World Karadeniz Currently for sale for £4.5 million in Turkey
I'm glad to hear it's still going !
I miss the Hss 😞😞
Thank you ! :)
Amazing machine I would love to see what the bridge looks like apparently it was steered by a joystick similar to Airbus technology

They were predicated on a much cheaper oil price than exists.
It's quite an impressive sight !
Cheers !
Nice one. Do you have any footage of the larger freighters? Such as Maersk one?
Great Video by the way.
Ash.
I'm afraid not, I don't think they'd fit in Ireland lol :)

Not our ports though, that's for sure ! lol
The noise is incredible what a bit of kit shame to see it's gone do miss it from the harbour at holyhead, ahead of it's time flying machine
Pity. I wonder how long more we'll have our one in Dublin...
Unfortunally the HSS at Belfast is now withdrawn and replaced by the Stena Superfast Ferries
It seems that what was once regarded as the transport of the future, has been relegated to the past, much like hydrofoils, hovercraft etc.
Yeah it's a shame :(

Великолепно! Спасибо.
Our country need HSS 👀from bangladesh
How did they fare in bad weather? Australia.
Not very good as far as I can remember. I think they were cancelled when the Irish sea was in any way rough.
They couldn't sail in rough sea, they used to put the old ferry on when it got slightly rough.
I'm pretty sure the pacificats are a little larger
Excellent video! Did she ever go to Belfast?
nice video thank you
Did anyone dare ask, are we there yet?
Great Video
It's nice to see a hss ship
Ese barco una vez estuvo en Venezuela. en la ciudad de puerto la cruz. realizo 2 viaje a la isla de margarita. y luego no se veo mas... :-/
You got to travel on it anyway ! :). Pity it's gone :(
Stena Discovery was at Venezuela. Now she is scrapped in Turkey.

Do you mean Tinkerbelle? :-)

Brian Ballard she was running at low speed due to being in port. These ships where capable for 45 knots and where designed and built In the 1990s.
Well get your facts correct...
Stena voyger
