I usually pull the cartridge out of those Moens before I solder them up. They’ve got rubber parts in them and it just melts the grease.

you really should pull it regardless, so you can "properly" flush any debris out, instead of plugging/jamming the cartridge. 😉

I always use a slip nut over the threaded tailpiece on the trip lever Tee, new trap as well.

I asked them about that "what smoke alarm?"
it could be expired/bad CO alarm/s also, at 10 years old or sensor failure they start to chirp and need replaced.
been there done that, ran around and changed all the batteries before only to still hear "CHIRPing", like what in the fork! then noticed the one was combo smoke/co(hardwired/battery backup/linked).
