    One theory for the answer to the Fermi Paradox - why haven't we seen any signs of extraterrestrial life - is that every time an intelligent form of life emerges, it quickly develops the ability to transcend the boundaries of space and time as we understand them. So maybe we're just minnows in a little tidal pool, oblivious to higher dimensions of existence where the big fish have all gone.

    • @brch2
      @brch2 7 месяцев назад +9

      It doesn't even have to be that extreme. Consider how massive space is. And consider how we try to detect other species (largely looking for intentionally transmitted radio waves at the moment).
      In order to detect a species, let's say 1000 ly away, that would mean they would have had to be at a phase of development 1000 years ago where they were sending out regular radio transmissions. If they were less advanced than that 1000 years ago, we would not detect them yet, even if they've reached that level of development by now. If they were more advanced 1000 years ago, then they may have already moved past radio as a major means of communication and may have moved onto some form we have not yet developed or started looking for.
      Same for a species 500 ly away... they'd had to have been regularly sending radio signals 500 years ago. Less or more developed, we would not detect them.
      Etc, etc.
      It's not as simple as just searching for radio waves, and assuming lack of them means no civilizations. We have to account for the fact those civilizations would have to have been at a certain level of technology that we are looking for a set amount of time ago based on their distance from Earth. That makes it that much less likely that we'll be able to detect other civilizations on other planets using our current methods, even if the universe turns out to be full of them. And even if other civilizations are out there, and even if they were at a similar level to our current one that amount of time (per distance) ago, it's possible that they came up with other methods of communication besides radio transmissions that we are not searching for or able to detect.

      Maybe all planets are similar to ours, evolution, mentality, etc. When you reach a much more advanced level, you become aware of why it was necessary for the respective planet to go through. So it would be normal for no one to come after us to take us into space, but rather to wait for us to get there.
      Today, our identity in space would not be Earth, but rather seven continents that work each for themselves, and not all united.

      2) No matter what the scenario, humans and their equivalents would take it all personally and see smugness anyway even if it's not actually present. Perhaps, even especially if it's not actually present. Humans will just imagine whatever they believe should be true, even when it's empirically not the case, or even impossible.

    We need more research in these subjects, I wish our society was similar to this shows society so we could just focus on research and exploration, that is what I perceive as the ultimate bliss when we come to inhabit these bodies, even if all the suffering we went through in all our forms was necessary to expand our understanding of self, I can’t yet completely observe everything without biases. Even when I’m aware of so many of my biases that doesn’t mean I can simply get rid of them, I found that “road” that has been mentioned by many and all I can do is sit down and let “it” take me at it’s own pace.
    Being able to observe while being aware of where you are right now is so humbling, but sometimes so humbling that you miss it. I know that right now I need to be able to take “that” and put it in my body because right now I’m holding too much of “that” on my hands, but despite my awareness of the present reality I still struggle. I’ve always had a little feeling that yearns for formlessness, and I think the fact that I have that feeling is exactly why I am “This” thisness.

    • @DoremiFasolatido1979
      @DoremiFasolatido1979 11 месяцев назад +6

      The difference is in what everyone calls eugenics.
      In our world, when the idea first came about, it could only be acted on through things like forced sterilization, execution, and strictly regulated selective breeding.
      Now, we're at a point where not only is none of that necessary, it's counterproductive. Instead, we can use a variety of genetic modification procedures to change everyone's DNA directly.
      Nobody needs to be sterilized, nobody needs to be killed, and any mating pair can produce any child they want. If there are flaws, or missing desired improvements, we can just add them. Until, eventually, we hit the pile of combinations that ultimately prevent all the flaws and maintain all the improvements with no more active interference.
      Nobody gets hurt, everyone benefits.

    The teachings of several exitentialists over the last 3000 years have all come to similar conclusions. You can't experience true forms without dieing to yourself. You must leave yourself and your material familiarity behind to experience any elevation of true form. Socrates, Buddha, Isaiah, Daniel, Jesus, Peter, Paul and John all said many of the very same things the actress uttered here.
    It is fun to see atheist and materialist writers and producers come full circle to state the things that people and movements of the past, that these very writers mocked relentlessly, have taught.
