Phenomenal. Your flys are works of art and I love your photography and videography. Watching you work is like watching Michelangelo paint the Sistine Chapel!
Brian, I tied a few of these gems up this week, and they have absolutely wreaked havoc on the Gallatin and Madison Rivers. Keep all this up man. These videos are fantastic. If you find yourself in Bozeman I have a seat in the boat to fill.
If You"re have to deal with the wind or just dont want to swing to 2 hooks, you can always use the articulated shank from Flymen Fishing company. Got the same movement but one less hook.BTW its a great pattern for Bass and Pike. They just can't resist it. Nice fly, Nice music, great as always. Keep it comming! Cheers Zoltan.
Exactly. One thing though, if you do decide to use the Articulated Shanks, I would use the Medium sized shank as the BACK hook...especially if you are targeting trout. Little trout eat the tail, BIG trout eat the head. :-)
I don't visit for the flies anymore, all about the tunes!!! lol...lol.. I will tie a few up tonight and take them with me Pike fishing this Sunday, I will report back...
Wool could technically be used but it doesn't "stack" like Laser Dub. Wool is a little bit more on the rigid side (for lack of better words) so it doesn't brush out into a round shape. Laser Dub will blend when it is brushed.
I don`t know for what he uses it but almostevery streamer he ties that is on youtube i use for both. I just use a realy big one for our dutch big lake pike op to 9 inches plus. For trout on rivers 3 inches.
Not really. This fly relies heavily on both hooks to get the most out of it. You could scale back the size of the hooks and make the whole fly smaller but you really need both hooks.
I can't speak for Brian, but if I could make a guess he is not using a 3/0. Standard Uni-Thread just doesn't have the strength to keep these flies together. I have tied almost every fly he has posted, and I am using Gel Spun Polyurethane (GSP) or Monochord. Its Strong and ties really well because its a "flat thread". Altough it is a bit more expensive, if you are going to take the time to tie these flies you are going to want them to last.

Another great video. I gotta get some laser dub. Can you use sculpin wool instead?

Love it!!!
Awesome tie man... i can see it on the business end of some big browns soon. whats the song?
Broken thread 2:38, we've all been there. by the way is that a pike or trout fly? or both? or what?
Another ?...what thread are you using?? Not sure what size to use, 3/0?
Exactly.
What would you get for doing perch and sucker color in those? Looks like a great fly. 😀
is it possible to scale it down for a single hook?
Tnx for quick answer :)
I have 2 questions for you.
1. Which beer you drink in this video?
2. What is that song in video?
cool dude!!

Cool!
Where can I order the Cars tooth brush?
I believe he uses a Peak Rotary vise.

Question #1. - New Belgium "Somersault"
Question #2. - I honestly don't know.....even forgot where I downloaded it.
I was hoping someone would notice that!! Nothing says big, nasty streamer like using your kids "Cars" toothbrush to brush out Laser Dub. :-)
