- My first time running Maryhill Hillclimb, and had a helluva time! Scary and fun, this road has it all. Sw20 MR2 with a 3.5l V6 (2gr). Finished 13th out of 45 entires, and one of the top cars on street tires. The entire story of my weekend can be found here: www.apex-attac...
Nice run! That hillclimb definitely takes some balls in some areas. I love your excitement after you saw your time haha
I've imported an MR2 from Japan, in the hopes to accomplish the same goals you've set out for yourself. Unfortunately I live in the middle of nowhere Pennsylvania, where there is only a single autocross event within an hour of me, and a single track within a few hundred miles. Seeing videos like this only reassures me that despite the setbacks, it'll all be worth it.
Awesome driving bro, that launch at the start was bad ass. Good shit!
Poetry in motion.
so cool! watched the first couple times like huh looks alot like eastern washington... oh shit it is haha had no idea this was a thing over here.(reads blog in link). Looks like a scary/fun course to run man, thanks for the video and info.
IN-SANE! So cool to see how fast you're improving your driving! Thank you for sharing Mike keep going :D
great run - awesome stretch of road - must say though - pretty funny/scary seeing skid marks dropping straight off some of those corners
awesome run! i wish we had hill climbs around here.
but indiana seems to be a wee bit too flat for that.
Love the end! Love how you like it. :D
That was awesome 👏 😎
Very scary...good job!
Looks super fun. Are you going this year?
Nice track! Where is this?
Nice! I've always wanted to see hill climbing around here, killing myself for missing this. How did you find out about this, is there some hill climb forum that shows all events locally?
the entire story behind the weekend is on my blog, which I linked in the video description, there's a NW Hillclimb group who puts these on. www.apex-attack.com/blog/2020/10/10/maryhill-hillclimb
@@mikereed1231 oh man, that's awesome. Hope I'll catch you at one of these.
im curious on your reasoning for going 2gr over gen 4/5 3sgte? I got my mr2 turbo a month ago and I'm really interested in turning it into a weekend touge/track car in the future

Alex Wilhelm documented his reasoning to switch and quite frankly explaining the superiority of the 2gr to a 3s, in a racing scenario
The 2GR makes more power and has a great torque curve , is as reliable as a Camry, sounds amazing, you can get parts for it everywhere, and you can go to a junkyard and just pickup a new engine IF you break an engine. The only reason not to go 2GR is for turbo noises, but I personally think the 2GR sounds wayyyy beter.
To echo what the others have said, the 2gr is a better option for track/racing. Better powerband, same weight, instant response and torque, and much more reliable. Can't heat soak a NA engine. I had a gen3 for years, and the 2gr is far faster around a track.
