- Today on our Big Bull podcast, we're joined by Rohit Srivastava, a businessman who runs two businesses in India - one is India Charts and another is Strike. He previously worked at Sharekhan, which gave him a lot of knowledge about the broking industry.
He's been in the stock market since the time of Harshad Mehta, starting his journey in 1990. Even back in 11th grade, while studying commerce, he started reading business news in newspapers to figure out what he wanted to do in his future career.
He started understanding the stock market by challenging his brother. He was good at graphically representing things, so he thought he could understand stock market prices better if he represented them graphically.
For some time, he kept learning about the stock market. His father didn't invest in the stock market, but he had a lot of knowledge about it and there were many books related to it in their house."
Rohit Srivastava wanted to say that at that time, he understood the process of investing and it was quite complicated. First, he had to get the broker's number and then call them to place his order. At that time, the stock market was only open from 12 to 1 pm, and then brokers would confirm if the order went through or not by 5 pm.
Rohit Srivastava has been in the stock market since the time of Harshad Mehta. He says there are many things he experienced during that time that have not been shown in movies.
He says that the data from that time shows that 20% of people started putting their savings into the stock market. And all credit for this goes to the government because at that time, the government promoted the stock market a lot.
