Technically, the Triangles are currently the Indianapolis Colts, the Dodgers merged with the Yanks in 1945, then the Yanks folded six years later, and all players went to a new team called the Dallas Texans. After the 1983 season, the Colts moved to Indianapolis, and the team has been there ever since.

I was under the impression that the different football related games we have around the world ... from rugby, to Australian Rules, to Canada to the USA ... all came about because there was a disagreement on what the rules and structure of "association football" were, in that there was very little communication at the time. I recall reading that, at the time, American Football was distinguished from Association Football by calling it "Soc Ball" and this later morphed into calling it "soccer." Thanks for shedding light on how it more likely came about, and the role that Walter Camp played. I do think "soccer" did play a role (11 a side, the size of the field and ball. Original American Football was round)

The Packers originally played on a high school field. The Packers were originally the bug bay blues. And Curly lambeau loved football so much that he made a league but went 10-1 the first season (won by around 60 ppg) so he joined the NFL the following year to play legitimate teams.
I live in Northern Ireland and my favourite sport is AMERICAN Football. One question. When was the forward pass introduced? The fact that the ball can go in ANY direction is the reason I'm an American Football fan instead of a Rugby 🏉 one.
It began to be allowed in the late 1900s and then became widely used in the Ohio League in the 1910s. Teams like the Dayton Triangles were some of the first to do it. It became legal from anywhere behind the line of scrimmage in 1933. Before that it always had to be 5+ yds behind the line of scrimmage.

Dude, you forgot Rugby League has been pro since 1908, Rugby League in the 80's and 90's was so amazing that Union had to go pro to keep up, it was embarrassing that good Union players would get snapped up for League contracts, and the actual 'standard' of basic rugby skills between the two codes was getting bigger and bigger, full time pro athletes in league were bigger faster stronger than their union brothers and it translated to tv ratings, union had to go pro to get the cash from the tv guys, it was crap to watch weekend athletes do their thing.
The Dayton Triangles still exist. The NFL hides it well but their last remaining Ohio League member is the Indianapolis Colts. They even kept the blue and white color scheme through their moves and merges.
Well he did win the 2001 AFC championship game. I think he would've won the three Super Bowls before being traded somewhere and then Tom Brady takes over as starter and still becomes a star.
I would have liked to have heard more about how brutal and bloody the game was in the late 1800s. Back then entire lines would run at full speed head first into each other for the ball.
