  • In this fly fishing DIY tutorial, taped at CCA's TieFest 2014 in Maryland, learn how to tie the "Stinger Hook Clouser Minnow Fly", a classic clouser-style fly with a trailing stinger hook, great for catching sluggish fish like speckled Trout, Bluefish, and Redfish. Captain Chris Newsome, charter captain specializing in fly and light tackle in Virginia's Chesapeake Bay, shows us how it's done and explains how use it.

I wonder how well the stinger hook will hold onto the main hook. I fish pikes and strong fish. I only fear that the stinger hook will get stripped off.

madara uchiha ive been using stinger hooks on long nose gar lately and I caught a 4 ft 10.5 pound fish yesterday no problem on the stinger. I tied it in with 50 pound braid instead of wire but the braid is a bit of a pain because it is too flexible and sometimes wraps up in the other material.
