- Now that I have a little bit more time playing around it's time to do some more work with the John Deere 35D. I have some random shrubs and small pine trees in our yard I want to get rid of. We have some future plans for land scaping and it does not includes these trees. I am still really green in the mini but I am learning as I go.
-Enjoy!
That’s absolute therapy for you after being in the shop all week. My son in law has the full size equivalent of that, backhoes and other earth moving equipment and for me it’s like a kid playing in the sand box on a grand scale.
Keep having fun, you deserve it.
Someone’s tired of mowing around trees. ;)
Ha. I know the thought of clearing a few trees has crossed my mind every time I mow.
Geesh Eric...why you hate pines so much? Lol
I can only imagine a few months prior to the filming of this. Your and Mrs. O are at the dinner table and she mentions she wants some shrubs and trees removed. Then a few moments late a light bulb turns on in your head with the though "I get to go buy a new toy, I mean tool, to accomplish this task for my wife that will make her happy"
I've really enjoyed these videos of getting the machine serviced and now the operating videos. 👍
Gave those trees a good plucking.
Only Mr. O could make digging a hole interesting/entertaining! Thanks for bringing us (the people) along!
The difference between boys and men are the size of our toys!
Now a Mini-Excavator would be a Toy that Anyone with Acreage would Love to have because it’s Obvious there is NO shortage of uses. Nice Job, Eric. 👍🙏
I love your use of random caps.
I love my mini, use it at home and at my apartment buildings in the winter time. I cut down the snow banks at the apartments take a few loads of snow back out to my property and dump it. Helps with visibility leaving the lot.
Very awesome to see you doing things outside the shop in the outdoors having fun playing with your bigger equipment aka Toys good Video @Eric O - After Hours
I agree, being in the shop can be like working in a mad house.
Eric your back is going to thank you for getting that machine
Still waiting for Mrs. "O" to get some seat time in the excavator !!!!
I wish I had one of those a few years ago, when I had to get rid of about a dozen conifers. It took 2 of us all day of back-breaking work, digging out by hand and hacking through the roots with an axe so we could pull the stumps. It's so much better when you have the right tools for the job (and it looks like fun).
I could hear the shrubs and the trees saying, "what the hell did I do too deserve this"
Mr O. Looks li!e you watched a like of LetsDid18 as he uses the same procedure to pull trees out. I used the same process to pull some of mine too. Thanks for sharing your journey with us on the new mini excavator. Have a great day to you and Mrs O and kids.
I think letsdig18 has some competition now
Eric be like "hey Folks, we got a 1992 Alberta Spruce, it's got the big H20, customer states its gotta go" ) lol. Looked like fun Eric.
Glad you're having fun! I really think 'Pride in Ownership' is such a good feeling around the 'homestead' - nothing has to be perfect but just bettering something that is ones own and outside with the weather and no people. I'm not sure what heaven is but that's close enough for me.
"Hey Muffie", "yea Tootie", "that thing just killed Jodi, and I think it's coming after me" 😲
I'm renting a mini-ex to do the same thing tomorrow. This has boosted my confidence. Thanks for the video!
Nice work. Those were nice trees!!!
I recently rented one of those a 35G when my horse passed away. I ended up renting it for a couple months because I was so blown away at how much work around the property I could do. Its so useful I'm in the market for one now. How do you like your machine at this point? I think Deere makes a pretty good product and I like the idea of an older machine maybe less computers. Really enjoy your channels sir! Thank you and enjoy your toy! :)
No better way to practice than to destroy! So much fun.
Just like pulling weeds with that machine! Enjoy!
Thanks for sharing your learning experience. Eric's excavation services, we rip out the shrubbery so you don't have to.
Hey Eric O! I’m helping. When you are shaking the dirt off the roots, I’m shaking my iPad with you!
Thank you for the tree take down. Good way to cap off a good week.
Another great outdoor video. Thanks again. - John
Great video Eric, your getting good experience with the excavator. Thanks for sharing your videos.
I think Matt at Diesel Creek would give you a thumbs up! 👍
Imagine a crossover between this channel and South Main, Diesel Creek, Dirt Perfect, Andrew Camarata (who's got to be not far from Eric), Letsdig and who am I forgetting? All these guys take extreme care of their machines and obsess over maintenance and have a lot of other commonalities. It's amazing to watch.
You're going to be giving Chris at Let's Dig a run for the money.
I'm sure you have a plan, but most of those trees looked pretty good.
Was thinking the same... But since it is a Deere and not a Volvo, maybe it is more of a dirt perfect thing... Especially since DP does more vids where he is working on and servicing the machines... Like Eric O😊
Have a Blessed Easter!!! JESUS IS ALIVE!!! Hallelujah!!!
And that folks is how you remove small bushes and trees!! lol............ good job I want one !!
I’m no pro but I’ve got a few hours in a Cat 325. I’d position a little closer to job. If for no other reason you’ll have a bit more power when you swing, and less stress on hydraulics when you try to stop a swing. I spent a couple seasons doing exactly what you were doing except on a bit bigger scale.
This is great therapy for me to watch you have some fun on your new equipment. Happy Easter to you and the entire family.
I didn’t think about just yanking them out. Very quick and efficient!
Just like the "old pick n pull"
A few years of christmas trees just went bye-bye ;)
Wow, just pulls them out with ease.
That's my kind of yard work. I refer to it as "Subtractive Gardening"
You're getting pretty good with the mini excavator!
you just trimmed up mowing time. looks like fun!
I always knew you were a grounded sort of guy and I am really digging these videos.
It can be very zen like working your own yard with your own machinery.
Fun videos, the service and now out fur a rip with the machine. Like others said, that has to be like therapy for you. It almost is for me just watching. Like adult sandbox time.
Yer cant beat the power of Drybollicks
That would have made a great Christmas tree
This JD is a nice piece of equipment Eric, hope you get more toys soon
imagine doing that with out the mini excavator , it looks like a very good investment !!
Thanks for the video Eric.
Piece of cake ! Eric caught on quickly to just knocking them over. It'll make mowing a whole lot easier, if that's why he took them down.
Eric why those, trees behind I could see, and the two in the beginning. I'm sure you have a reason? 🤔🙄. Also HAPPY EASTER TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY 🐇, HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY 👍🙏✝️♥️
You're catching onto that thing right quick!! I'm envious as hell.... Although that wouldn't do much good out here in the Az desert with our caliche soil! (aka - Cement) ;) Thanks for takin' us along!
Thanks Eric. Good to see you in the outdoors doing something fun. Wish I had one of those. Very cool. Have a good one. Happy Easter!!
Word of advise is scrape a few feet around the tree to break up some surface tension and helps the root ball come up with easier especially with a small machines
Also so many bush jokes to be made, none to be said
I really enjoy the home projects
Trees got MUNCHED on...didn't know the John Deere mini was a vegetarian after chuggin' all that dinosaur juice +1 Like
Oh-oh, I can hear Mrs. O, "You said you taking 3 shrubs, not 7!!" Got a little carried away dintcha? LoL
Mrs. O just asked you to trim the shrubs. She’s going to hide the keys on you.😂
Just thinking... can't wait till he needs a christmas tree :D
Happy Easter to you and the family
Hi Kid!! These videos are nice for a change gets us out of the shop!! Plus I think you are having more fun with your new toy than you want us to know!!! Have a great weekend!! Say ha to Mrs.O.
🍺🍺
Great job! I would truly love to have a machine that size to do some of the same things you're doing. That Deere appears to be the perfect size machine for a smaller piece of property. Enjoy and thanks for the video!
Made quick work. Beats digging out by hand!
Great Job as usual, it does look like a lot of fun
Like a Kid with a new toy. Happy Easter to you and your family.
Pore little baby Trees Eric Just destroying them with that machine and then playing with them tree Hater lmfao 😂😂 I'm Kidding Eric O lol you do what you need to on your land look forward to seeing what your clearing the trees out for in the future @Eric O - After Hours
That’s more fun then one fella should be allowed to have. Awesome!
"Shoot, a fella’ could have a pretty good weekend in Vegas with all that stuff"
Looks more like fun than work! She yanks them out 'like butta'.
Time to subscribe to let's dig 18 and to dirt perfect!
Boy, big equipment makes that job easy, I’d have spent a few hours digging those out by hand.
The mini makes pulling these shrubs like us pulling weeds with our hands. LOL
Great video
Kids will learn that machine fast!
Now you need to let Mrs. O have a whirl at it. Then you can have a contest with her to see who can put a cap on a water bottle.
I'm reminded of Roger the Shrubber....
Eric, You remind me of a visit to my military dentist. This beats shoveling all to hell. Now all that you need is a skid steer, a dump truck. A skid steer can plow snow!
This can plow snow if it doesn't get deep. Somewhat like an impressive dust cloth.
looks like fun thanks for sharing and Happy Easter
Handy machines for sure. Did you end up learning on the Deere controls or cat controls?
that was like a decade of good Christmases
The tree huggers are going nuts!!!!😂😂😂
...You are having far too much fun. Cease and desist at once. [/s] 🤣
Always so busy, if not with work it is at home. I’d like to think you have multiple lawn mowers your kids can ride and help you with yard work 😊
The closest I've ever come to running something like this was a terramite we rented for a couple of days cleaning up my mothers property about 2 decades ago. So I don't know if this would work or not. It seems to me you could start with the bucket next to the tree, the little bendy ones like these, and swing the bucket into the tree until it bent over enough to grab it and yank it out. Or is that beyond a machine this size? Anyway he got them out and had fun doing it and we got a little video to brighten our days a bit. Thanks Eric.
Hello from North GA! That black dirt is some weird looking stuff!
Last one was a perfect Clark W Griswold tree, just need a 1st gen Taurus/Sable wagon to tie it to.
Eric looking like Chris from Let's Dig 18
You are becoming quite good with that backhoe. Keep up the good job.
Having a cocktail and watch Mr. O clearing the homestead. Then I look at my yard and say maybe next week! Thanks for the View of New York State?
Just a little suggestion, in-cab camera so we can get some good commentary ....thanks for sharing Eric and Happy Easter to you and your family.
Real history: The New York State tree killer. 😁
Isn’t it FUN!
fun project to follow along, both fixing with it and aswell you using it. nice one eric take care man
Thanks Eric!
Dang, those were nice pines!
That sure is a handy piece of equipment....
You have pine tree hostility. Good to get rid of them now before they grow larger and blow over.
Like I said before a great piece of equipment added to the arsenal of equipment for projects around the yard.
I swear I can smell pine.....
btw, those trees and shrubs would make one heck of a bonfire!!
Like how you got more proficient as you moved along
Hiya Eric ... "that's it Mrs O. We are no longer planting our Christmas trees in the back yard"
