Cape Town was built by the Dutch East India company, Durban was built by the British, the vibe and structure in Durban is totally different to anywhere else in the country.

Indians and Zulus also contributed to the building of Durban and now a black elected govt. BEE (Black Economic Empowerment) Tenders built Durban ✌🏾.When you go to Durban today white people make up less than 10% of the population. Give credit where credit is due.
@@Zikhona532 I agree with everything you say and yes I do mean centuries ago, the city was the same most of my life, this rebuild you speak of is only after uinification and yes, SA as build off the backs of the tribes that were defeated, this is a reality but not my point, The Dutch had Cape Town and the British found Durban and settled here, that is our history
To put it in a less accurate phrase so in S.A, Cape Town would be like L.A in terms of life style, the Johannesburg will be like New York in terms of theife style and Durban would definitely be like Miami

As a Durbanite living in Cape Town for the last 29 years, I just want to set the record straight when it comes to Durban.
Although Durban is a very laid-back city, not for nothing it was the most popular South African holiday destination pre-1990s, with all the Vaalies (now called Gautengers) and lots of Cape Tonians flocking to Durban each year in the summer months (December/January).
Why Durban has lost it's tourist/holiday status to Cape Town and Johannesburg (Joburg/Jozi/Egoli) is debatable and perhaps a subject for another day but suffice it to say, Durban is the least promoted City of the big 3 and is seldom mentioned on International platforms, which I find very frustrating.
In spite of this, Durban has continued to grow over the last couple of decades successfully building a brand new International Airport, International standard Malls and Shopping Centres, a beautiful Marina in the Point/Bayside area, Ushaka Marine World as well as many Theme Parks and Water Worlds.
Let's also not forget that Durban is the home of Afro House, Deep House and Gqom as well as making notable contributions to Amapiano, Rap, R&B, Soul, Jazz, Pop and Rock.
Durban is truly the place to be, and from an American perspective, Durban is Miami, Cape Town is Los Angeles and Joburg is New York.

Brother I know what you’re trying to say what you see is “UBUNTU” which means I am because we are, in South Africa we tend to work together we have herd or tribe mentality there’s literally a term that says together we can. As opposed to the US or probably Canada where it’s more a sense of self ie. My house my money my kids. I feel like in the US especially neighbors hardly know each other compared to South Africa where you know you neighbor and the whole street of houses and the block behind and in-front and sometimes the whole block more in the townships you’ll get that sense of community. We celebrate together we cry together you’ll see that in wedding’s and funerals the amount of support you get, the community comes out in droves you rarely fell alone and when you get smashed with all that love it is overwhelming 😍
