Real-life test note: In the Mazda CX-30 AWD, gone is the TCS on/off button! It's now replaced by the Off-road traction assist button! We might say we had an influence on that since Mazda took notice of our Cx-9 and Cx-5 video a while ago and got their engineer to talk with us about that button change! So without it, it's smoking tire on the diagonal test hill, when you press on it, there is a little delay, but the Mazda Cx-30 will climb it quickly and way better than the previous gens of Mazda AWD system! There was no Excessive AWD System Load warning message. You can even feel it when you roll and turn on the dry tarmac! There is no maximum speed for the system to be used... can't wait to test it in the snow! This button Off-road traction assist button is also optional on the 2020 Mazda Cx-5 and Mazda Cx-9! #mazdacx30 #mazdacx5 #mazdacx9
CQ you are amazing! CQ could also stand for Car Quebec😆. I have 2017 CX5 AWD I love this car. (120,00K odometer) And I so have much respect for Mazda's Design cycle. They listened, observed, improved very quckly. I wish I had the Turbocharged Engine, had it been available probably Iwouldn't have spent that much extra $$(which proves they were right🙂)
Good that mazda took notice of your videos but remember what dave coleman ingenieur at mazda told you that time when u intervieuwd him about this? He said this test would be more fair if u followed a line everytime with all the difrent models cars u use to test it to level the field and make things more fair. wich u stil havent done ...
@@nemo7061 it's not possible and not that easy! No vehicle has the same bumper, height, overall length so we need to adapt the line.... and i can't draw on a terrain that's not ours... so we know it's not identical for every car. that's why we have a roller on the way....
Yes, it works much better, but I remember you tested the new Mazda3 AWD and did well without needing this new system. Wondering why is different across the range. Its suppose this new system "locks" the rear differential electronically (as per Australian site) yet the rear wheel spin faster than the one on the ground, and the front wheel with no contact still spin a lot. Still is very good because it goes up without much efforts. But after reading how the system works, I was expecting something much better.
I really wish Mazda released a high trim model option to have painted plastic cladding. Volvo gives the option and the old RAV-4 platinum had it. Makes a big difference in looks.
I think there is also a link when you check at the suspension travel... there is not a lote for more weight. And yess with the low profil, it'S a bouncy ride in pothole city ( A/S Québec ).
ruclips.net/video/C4ic2U8p14k/видео.html Not only does the forester do better, but it does it better in the snow lol. Same with the cheapest Subie: ruclips.net/video/MLS5tfWT-2s/видео.html
Since you have Mazda's ear, can you suggest to them to start using high Color Rendering Index (CRI of 90+) LEDs in their headlights across the brand? Like many other companies, the LEDs used wash out warm color tones and kill a driver's depth perception at night. This might also help them with the IIHS headlight test of the CX30 which they recently failed because of excessive glare
As I recall, Mazda's use unequal length front drive axles, like most cars. Your test, while helpful, does not show how the CX-30 would perform if the ramp was reversed. You only had one segment that showed the CX-30 on a reversed ramp and that ramp was blocked by a dumpster.
yep, they have not been moved since winter is not completely gone, but hey it's better than nothing and we are confident that it can do both sides easily!
Mazda could have invested $$ elsewhere in the car (eg back space) - no one buys a mazda cx3 / 30/ 5 etc for AWD. It's a fun family car, mazda don't ruin it. ( Proud owner of a mazda 3)
lol. Subaru drivers thinking their AWD is the best thing in the world. Go watch your crosstreck do the same test. Looks like it snuggled more then the CX30 to me.
Why Subaru isn't available anymore in Indonesia. They don't know how to make off roaders. Also all American car brands has gone out of Indonesia the last 3 years. Only major Asian brands and few European brands survive here. Mazda = Ahura Mazda (Lord of Wisdom, Persia, Zoroastrianism)

This is a perfect example of how good testing can make a difference! And I think it shows that Mazda listens and definitely cares. Thank you!
Props to Mazda for actually listening to you guys. I'm considering them for my next new car when the corona stuff is over

wow it works really well. Thanks for testing during the pandemic!
David Woo there is no pandemic
I like how it performed better in the diagonal test, in reverse
Most vehicle do!
Easier to push the lighter end up first!
This is front wheel drive bias so the you get extra weight front and extra traction.
It’s due to the lower gear ratio in reverse which means more torque
@@sneak916 That makes sense. Subaru put a shorter final gear ratio in their 'wilderness' trim Forester and Outback.

Nice performance - this offroad button / mode works like the X-Mode from Subaru !!!

I really love the look of this car🥰

Comment on fait de Donuts avec un CX-30. J ai essayé mais les systemes de sécurités embaques.
Very nice video! Love it!
WOW !!! where can I buy this button that I put in my car!?!? ......
Can i get this button installed in my 04 civic?? 🤔
what?
Good Mazda has seen ur video & updated its AWD. Can you test VW Haldex gen5?
Search for Volvo V60 CC on this channel. It is Haldex gen 5 but with Volvo signature. And it is just excellent.
So if I ever find myself driving diagonally on a loading ramp I should engage offroad mode? Gotcha.
Mazda is love
So we know it works well

Can you review the torsion beam rear suspension for the CX30? Does it compromise passenger comfort in the rear seats?
@@pat3657 I won't bet on that... the suspension on the CX-30 is not the most comfortable! :(

I own a Turbo. Honestly the suspension is absolutely AWFUL on any kind of rough road or bumps.
Can you do the test with the transmission in a lower gear going up the angle? It would probably have less wheel slip.
Don't you mean a higher gear?
Ngl the car still gets good power even on 3 wheels 😂👏🏼
Awfully close to scraping the underside?
Nope
Just getting that maximum angle
This is definitely better than RAV4 and maybe even Forester

Should be intelligent enough to not require a button. Rear axle reacts fast enough without it. Front axle should also.

The Subaru would handle it no problem until the CVT crapped out. Mazda uses only gear type automatic transmissions. Far more reliable.
