    I was incredibly lucky when I first clicked the video. Just as Tomer predicted, I skipped ahead in the video to see if my thoughts aligned with his, and I planned on going back and watching the whole thing to get the justification on each legend. I'm lucky because I managed to skip DIRECTLY to the part where Tomer called out people like me for skipping through the list and slotted Jyoti at the top of the list. You caught me, but I also caught on to you!

    for Arna, it feels like there is one singular focus that is most valuable to examine, which is, the strongest things to copy with her. skulky, hard to block creatures swinging with Animate Dead, Pre-war Formalwear, Sage of Hours swinging with +1/+1 counters, Swords of X/Y, Pip Boy, Assimilation Aegis constantly o-ringing creatures, dumping extra artifact tokens into Time Sieve, stuff like that!

    Ral doesn't have the planeswalker issue as much because if you play him right he ults before anyone can even hit him and his ult is just like, good independent of thenumber of players. At worst 100 singleton means more potential whiffs? But I disagree because commander decks play more automatically impactful cards.

    I really dig Azlask, can't wait to brew with them, same with Cayth. I like that both of these commanders are open to wide variety of deck builds.
    Tomer hold my Liquid Death!
    Genku: Ones mans Poop another mans treasure. If you flicker Genku he is a new version, so you stack your flickers and triggers with (ex:)Abdel and make an army even faster now with Lifelink, Flying and Vigilance tokens. Also the 5 mana anthem effect works with the flicker loops that generate mana, so Genku is a win con if played right

    My prediction for Nadu: in a year it will be one of the most hated commanders to play against or shadowbanned from casual EDH. An overlooked interaction is with Aphetto Alchemist or Seeker of Skybreak: They can untap themselves twice every turn plus another creature on the last turn before yours. The result is a whopping 9 cards drawn per turn cycle😮

    • @TheWoelrat
      @TheWoelrat 3 месяца назад +5

      That card seems busted in every way. That interaction, cards that can clone legendaries, landfall cards that target creatures, cheap multitarget spells all work so well.
      And the fact that lands come into play untapped so you can keep on going. besides that, it's only 3 mana and has 4 toughness.

    Begging for a reassessment on Genku, he's not all about returning permanents to hand, he works with fetches and eggs so using white ramp like Sun Titan and Sevinne's rec to bring back fetches will ramp you for his activated ability while creating tokens. He also synergizes with eggs, my brew for him is filled with baubles that can be recurred to draw cards and create several tokens per turn. Being able to Hurkyll's recall back to your hand three eggs, make three tokens and then crack them on an opponents turn and make three more can make a board very quickly.

      It's far from cracked. You simply make tokens as you do things. You then probably want pump effects and such to win with tokens. However, without the commander you'll then lose your ability to make tokens and the deck won't function. It's a fragile multi-step process, compared to the blink archetype where the commanders are usually an insane value engine as soon as you have blink targets.
      There are plenty of synergies and interesting things that make it powerful enough and fun to build, but it's not going to naturally be a strong deck.

    • @PalPlays

      @@chrismarlow9585 Very rare is the effect that simply makes three 1/1s on etb, and these tokens are no vanilla 1/1/s. You don't need pump effects when Yorion + Resto Angel + any other creature is generating three tokens while you get all your other etbs.
      Once that engine is online, you will be untapping with 12 tokens from Genku after one turn cycle.

    Really hyped for genku. Not because he's good, but because he enables my favorite stupid magic b*******. O-ring loops. Sure he only triggers three times each turn and you can't keep o-ring looping through steps but that's where you run flicker creature loops that flicker at end of turn and o-ring creatures that can get hit by said end of turn flickers. The goal is to have as much cardboard flickering and in and out of exile as possible every turn so you trigger him three times every turn and add up with 12 pieces of cardboard per turn cycle. Is this good? Not really. It's way too interruptible and you're not really doing anything and your reward is a bunch of like 1/2s but damn if it isn't my favorite type of useless magic. Heck, unlike normal flicker decks you're not getting bogged down in weird value loops causing turns to go long. Now if only they print a commander that makes fetter-Ball good.
    Run all the flicker dogs and ETB dogs and some self-bounce and you can call it Air Bud.

    TLDR: necrobloom is the best. It is the only commander that I’ve seen where death match looks great, I cannot wait to try it out. Necrobloom is the most interesting lands commander.
    Your boyfriend is so right about the necrobloom. I got one in a prerelease prize pack and was much more pleased about it than anything else I opened. Which is crazy, because I also got the Ajani, red and white flares, and a solitude which were so perfect for my archangel avacyn deck that I took it as a sign from the universe to convert it back into a vehicle wildfire deck. But back to the necrobloom, I was so inspired that I took apart my beloved Titania deck to make a necrobloom deck. I basically replaced the ramp components of Titania with cards that synergies with the plants. Death match plus fetchlands is like a machine gun and necrobloom survives up to two triggers from when opponents play creatures. I got the humility effect bear which I threw in there for plant synergy but is also funny with death math. While gold fishing Necrobloom with the gitrog monster I discovered the interaction between one mana cycling lands and necrobloom. So beautiful.

    A note on Kozilek: to turn manifested creatures face up you still have to pay their mana value, so you're not giving your opponent any real advantage by letting them manifest anything unless they have dead cards in hand. In reality it's either a neutral or negative (as Tomer described) thing for them and means you can easily get 4 cards every time while creating a huge board and probably doing a big pump for your other creatures.
    I think we have too many effects where putting a card inot another zone is a positive and manifest itself is normally from top of the library that people immediately assume it's giving the opponent mana/card advantage. In commander two 2/2's is not helping them develop their board, unlikely 40/60 card where that actually matters.

    Skipped through for omo. I really have no problem with the counters only being active when she's on the board. There's plenty of useful cards like lord of the unreal that also keep her on the field!
    And it's not like the counters go away if she gets removed, you just recast it and you're back to where you were. I guess in theory she could get removed and then you lose your lord effects and you get wrecked before it comes back to your turn, but its really not a big deal.
    It's a little annoying but that's it. It barely changes how I'm going to design the deck, because even if the counters were always on, I still want her on the board to attack or flicker or clone because I need as many counters on my stuff (especially lands) as possible.
    I could be wrong and we'll see after playing with it for a bit but it seems really really minor.

      It depends how much removal your playgroup runs. If your playgroup runs a high amount of removal then Omo gets a lot worse because the deck is so reliant on the commander and after one game your opponents should easily identify removing Omo as the easiest way to shut down the deck.

    • @Gorbgorbenson
      @Gorbgorbenson 3 месяца назад +1

      In my experience people dont run enough removal that it's a huge issue. I think ramping into big things will be the more relevant threat in that deck.

      I really love the uniqueness of Omo (and generally think changelings are cool) and I think between lands like Riptide Lab, lords like Lord of the Unreal, and just having access to counterspells, Omo should be protectable, though you'll still want a LOT of protection pieces. But will admit I'm struggling to come up with things for her to do on the creature side besides give everything hexproof and cheat out stuff with things like Descendants Path, and I'm not sure what the efficient ways to snag a win are outside Maze's End. I think it will be relatively easy for the deck to make a boatload of mana; spending it in a cool way I am less sure of.

    • @theabrandt6177
      @theabrandt6177 3 месяца назад +1

      @tomerabramovici32 that's fair! I guess I'm coming at this from the perspective of someone who has a few voltron commanders and typically runs a fair bit of protection for commander reliant decks, and usually can protect from everything except wipes and counter magic, and in this case, I'll have some of my own counters as well.
      So far she's seemed to stick pretty well in precon previews but those are definitely intended to showcase cards rather than obliterate them, and aren't loaded with interaction. I hope you give her a shot on commander clash sometime!
      Tbh I'm partly just excited to finally have a home for my fancy lord of atlantis 😅

    Looking at Jyoti for addition in animate lands deck - and Nadu for an enchantress deck. I will definitely not be adding Shuko and Lightning Greaves along with "Landfall make a creature token." Just removing those, and stating those intentions, may make for a lower powered Nadu deck.

    @1:20:00 while having blue is always great, Rosheen is probably better in the command zone, because she represents card advantage in the command zone and can go infinite with either Dockside/Temur Sabertooth or Squee/Food Chain to make infinite mana and keep recasting Rosheen until you get a relevant X spell like Crackling with Power or Walking Ballista.

    I think the assessment on Genku is a bit harsh, like putting it in the same tier as Skoa doesn't seem right.
    I'm not saying Genku is super busted or anything but there are some neat ways to build him. He's not just a pure flicker commander, he triggers off of a variety of other things. You can include all the fetchlands and play kind of a greenless lands matter build. You could build an artifact eggs deck, sacrificing and recuring cheap artifacts while building a token army. Or maybe build a mix of these. At the very least, he should be like a tier or 2 above Skoa imo.

    Sorin of house Markov is kinda busted, a lot of cards and situations where you just minus 1 after casting 1 card and kill or cripple someone. Built it as a lifegain lifeloss deck to take advantage of the lifegain and it can just make the game a 1v2 very quick and then you have the life to take a turn or 2 of attacks unblocked or if you have one of the many pillow fort effects make them waste thier turns and then swing out for the 1v1 where you use your group slug effects or anything else to close out the game. It’s quite fun as it doesn’t win just out of nowhere on a turn but still after you take on person out you can more easily take out some more.

    If you're playing Kozilek and manifesting your cards (which you often will want to), for clarity, what it does is:
    Gives you 19 power on board
    Draws you 4 cards
    Removes 2 cards from an opponent's hand
    This is insane. Best case scenario for your opponent they're like "okay cool I can flip this creature by paying the same mana cost as usual". That's not even doing much for them. This card is *cracked* in Commander.
    Edit: Also. Bro. It's not hard to say Pearl-Ear lol. I just said it like 80 times in a row.

    I think you missed a couple points on Azlask.
    1. It's the first WUBRG experience counter card. I have seen people talk about how they can build a deck with all xp counters now
    2. It seems kinda cool as an include in the changelings/shapeshifters deck - you don't need counters to give the abilities, just the pump
    3. Unless I'm misreading it you can activate Azlask multiple times a turn to give the stat pump, but also to give multiple instances of annihilator so those lil baby spawns suddenly are wiping 2 permanents if you have the mana

  • @imaginarymatter

    I think you are too down on Omo. She benefits from every lord effect so now your Lords of the Unreal and Timber Protectors will give her the protection she needs.
    I am in the Satya is not an Energy deck commander. What I mean by that is that the strong effect on Satya is the token copying ability -- that ability is strong enough that Satya can helm a deck on that ability alone. Not only is at a value engine but it enables a few infinite combos via infinite combat steps. The energy production is just a bonus. Sometimes you can keep a particularly good creature, use the energy for your Rush of Knowledge MDFC or other generically good energy cards, etc but you don't need that for her to be good. The real upside to me is stockpiling the energy so you can jumpstart a win with a very on theme Lightning Runner (you will use the energy to activate Lightning Runner's additional combat triggered ability and make a token copy of Lightning Runner -- eventually you will have three Lightning Runners which will provide enough energy to take infinite combat steps).
