It wasn't McGonagall's choice to send Harry to the Dursleys. She tried to convince Dumbledore not to leave him with them because they were, and I quote, "The worst kind of muggles imaginable"
Some things worth mentioning:
- In the books all of the schools ar coed with boys and girls
- The number of the movies is the age of Harry Potter - starting at first book at eleven, and ending at 7th book at seventeen. So in this movie they are 14
- Neville's parents were tortured to insanity with cruciatus curse. They are in magical hospital for life, and Neville visits them with his grandmother. Harry and crew met him there when they were visiting Gilderoy Lockhart and there was a whole interaction scene with Neville and his parents
- Cedric was not in the previous movies, but he was in previous books - he was a seeker and captain of Hufflepuff's quidditch team
- Rita Skeeter was an animagus that can turn into a beetle - that's how she collected the gossip. Hermione caught her and blackmailed her to not report on Harry anymore, because Rita was an unregistered (illegal) animagus (btw just like Sirius, James and Peter) = means that ministry didn't know they can turn into animals, but should, so Rita could be in trouble if ministry found out
- Hagrid is half giant - his dad was human, and mother was a giant
- Krum was not an animagus, is was a temporary spell
- Barty Crouch jr run out of Azkaban, because his mother decided to stay in his place
Cedric is in Prisoner of Azkaban, but he is not named or played by Pattinson. He's seen in the quidditch game.

Ps. The host in the lake were not in danger. They were in enchanted sleep, checked on by merpeople and if left, picked up alive and kicking.
It Was scary and eerie for the champions though, hence Harry bringing up the last hostage too, and Fleur being so relieved seeing her.
Yeah, neither were the people in the maze. I would not have gone back for Cedric coz in theory they would all have been saved the moment the cup was won. If Harry hadn't been such a do-gooder, Cedric might still be alive.

Dumbledore was the one who showed up turning out lights as if he had a plan, McGonagall was just there, AND she expressed doubt about Harry going to the Dursley's but Dumbledore stayed firm, *AND* when she first turned out from a cat Dumbledore looked at her and said "I should have known you would be here" implying she didn't actually have anything to do with the plan to take Harry there at all but that she just turned up of her own accord to ask Dumbledore

I do agree Cedric should have been in the movies more or atleast more in this movie to get me more emotionally invested but I have to say as soon as him dad crys out and says my boy I ball like a baby. Another great reaction by the way.
We only knew Cedric and Amos Diggory for a couple of hours, but that blood-curdling howl would make any parent put their head between their knees- it's too easy to imagine if it was your own kid...

so the reason why harry has to live with this only relatives is becuase dumbledore invoked an old magic that built on the protection charm his mother created when she sacrifised herself for him. using that dumbledore created another charm that would make it so no enemie could come near harry while he is home. as long as he is underage
ps. mcgonagall really didnt want to leave him with them also. i dont think she knew what dumbledore had done and why he had to, but she trusts him implicitly enough not to question it

Mcgonagall is the best adult tho hands down 😭 she cares the most about Harry and she never wanted to drop him off at the dursleys she showed up to try and convince dumbledore not to leave them there but she couldn’t. He’s the headmaster of the school and she wasn’t really in a position to go against him. Also he’s like the most powerful wizard in the world that she grew up knowing about so she had a certain respect for him and she trusted him to make the right decision. Her only mistake though was trusting dumbledore 😔

Cedric was actually in the last movie but it was a different actor he was the Hufflepuff that got struck by lightning.
If you need the age of the main trio (and technically Draco) just add 10 to the book number. So 14 in this.
The implication of the imperius curse is kind of important.
Rita was on the worse side of what ravenclaw can be. Intelligent but morally bankrupt.
September 1st is the cutoff for school years and birthdays. Hermione turns 15 on September 15th of this year. She had to wait a year after finding out about this world. Which also explains why she was so ahead academically on the first train ride.

There is a protective charm on Harry since his parents death he has to stay with the Dursleys for it to stay active because petunia is his only living relative soooo...you can't hate Dumbledore or McGonagall for that they literally didn't have another choice

@AZBYCX he was safe there during school time and He couldn't be attack while at the Dursleys that was the point of his mother's charm he couldn't be attack by Voldemort as long as her protective charm was on him and it wouldn't have worked if he left the Dursleys Hogwarts doesn't allow students to stay over summer and Harry had to be at the Dursleys for at least 24 hours after every school term

As someone just journeying into the franchise I’m just pointing out there might be aspects to the decision to leave Harry with the Dursleys that you don’t grasp yet. But protection from death is a bit of a higher priority than protection from emotional abuse. In any case McGonagall didn’t make that decision and she’s the shit. So be nice. Harry himself has a huge amount of respect for her so there’s no reason you shouldn’t.

it is rumor that Hermione saying "things will change." was more of a good by to all the actors since most of the kids where going to high school after this and the fact that most of the actors contracts where up, but all the major characters agreed to continue. Allen Rickman (Snape) was not going anywhere. because of the secret that JK told him about the character arc of Severus Snape from the very start. he was the only one that had the heads up from JK about their character. but it was important that Allen Rickman know so he could pay his part knowing whats what.
Your Potter reactions are my introduction to your channel and I'm really enjoying it so far. I'm especially loving that you are possibly the only Potter reactor I've seen who shares my opinion of Dumbledore. I don't see him as evil because he's clearly against Voldemort but he's just one of those leaders who has come to believe he is infallible.
He is a big picture kind of leader and doesn't even consider how his decisions effect individual people. Harry for example may have been very safe from Death Eaters growing up with his Aunt and her family but he could have surely been kept almost as safe somewhere else. The fact that the trade off for Harry's safety was growing up with people who hated him never entered Dumbledore's mind as important.
Consider Harry's first year. While the traps that the trio had to overcome were challenging for an eleven year old they would be nothing for an adult wizard. Clearly they weren't even intended to hinder Voldemort but rather were a test of sorts for Harry and friends. Even individually the chess set was ideal for Ron, the flying keys for Harry, the logic puzzle for Hermoine and the deadly vines for Neville who in the books has an affinity for Herbology. In my opinion Dumbledore knew ahead of time what was happening and let it continue to see how it would play out.
There are other reasons for my opinion that I can't share because they would be spoilers but suffice to say I consider Dumbles to be a Machiavellian manipulator of the worst sort......... all for your own good of course.

Harry has to stay with his aunt Petunia, his only blood relative left! The blood is important in order to maintain the protective charm he has. It's not like Dumbledore wanted him to. He can't be outside Dursley house aside from Hogwards. It's written in the book.
@@itaatisa8357 Yes, it is Canon that Harry was protected from Voldemort at the Dursley's due to the blood protection. It's less clear that he was protected anywhere else, for example while at primary school. While living at the Dursley's may have offered the _most_ protection surely he could have been almost as well protected somewhere else. Staying with the Dursley's powered the protection _on the house_ not on Harry personally.
As a separate issue, Dumbledore placing Harry there _(which I'm not convinced was in any way legal)_ gave him a duty of care. Allowing Harry to be treated as he was by the Dursley's without any kind of intervention is borderline criminal behavior in my opinion and if he was unaware of how he was being treated than that is just negligence and also borderline criminal.
@@palisade32 I get what you mean, but lets step back and understand who Dumbledore is to Harry and the Potters. He is not Harry's grandfather, he is not particularly close with the Potters. We can say he is only an authority in wizarding world as leader of The order of phoenix and Headmaster of Hogwarts. He had the responsibility to take care of wizard world generally from dark force which was Voldemort and their followers at that time. Baby Harry was targetted and he put him in Dursley house for his safety, that's it, his responsibility is done. He didn't have responsibility to care for Harry more than that. Like I said Dumbledore is the headmaster, not related or close with Potters whatsoever.
And he did talk to the Dursleys in book 6. I quote
"Dumbledore then informs the Dursleys that, for the magic on their house protecting Harry to continue to work until Harry comes of age at 17, they must let him return to Number 4 Privet Drive one more time. Dumbledore then admonishes Vernon and Petunia for their treatment of Harry and of Dudley before taking Harry away"
"You have never treated Harry as a son. He has known nothing but neglect and often cruelty at your hands. The best that can be said is that he has at least escaped the appalling damage you have inflicted upon the unfortunate boy sitting between you."

Lets say he did check on Harry at that time, what could he do? At best threathen the Dursley, but Vernon was smart enough to know wizard could not harm muggle. After the visit, everything would be the same, Harry would still be treated badly.
Not to mention main reason Dumbledore never visit for 11 years that he didn't want Harry to learn about wizard world yet and to hide him as safe as possible. Dumbledore is famous around dark.wizard. I once had a thought that he neglected Harry for 11 years to avoid Harry being noticed or centered ( very bad if it's by former Voldemort followers). If he did do visits or checking to Dursleys, they will know and it will attract them l. That's why I thought.
I am not crazy Dumbledore fans or anyone in HP series, I only try to see objectively reasons behind everyone doing. True that are some decisions he made that some people don't like because not in favor of Harry, but Dumbledore responsibility was huge, not only Harry.

I'm all for people following whichever they house they want, but there is favouring them and blatant bias. As for the Dark Mark in the sky. It's invokes fear in everybody because it means the Death Eaters are back. With the exception of Peter Pettigrew, all Death Eaters are Slytherins.

It’s really good on stage (don’t read the script) but I saw it before they made it half the length.
I've never understood Lucius Malfoy making fun of the Weasleys being high up in the Quidditch stadium. In real life muggle sports, yeah, being high up is bad. But Quidditch is literally played in the air. They have the best seats in the entire arena. It feels like a line written by someone who had no knowledge of the universe at all and just wanted to make Lucius look especially evil.
Also, the fact that you think "a great day at school" is a teacher horrified and a little girl crying shows your true Slytherin. lol

Actually there is a reason they have to let him with the dursleys. In the movies is not explained, so this is not a spoiler. Not gonna go into much detail, but basically harry is protected by a very powerful magic since his mother died to protect him, and that protection can only continue if harry stays with his mothers family (his aunt, petunia). So, dumbledore and mcgonagall leave harry with them because, even if the dursleys are horrible, this magical protection keeps him save from voldemort. So thats the reason he has to live with them.

Yeah they didn't get Robert Patterson to come into play Cedric until this movie. But the last movie the quidditch scene in the rain the seeker that got struck by lightning chasing after the snitch with Harry in the books was Cedric. Also I believe Cedric and Hufflepuff won that match. Go Hufflepuff 🦡
