i found your tutorial most helpful among other tutorials out there, not saying that they're all wrong, but. It's just that i feel like yours are the one who fits the way i draw...well, thanks. i guess that you're probably one of many reasons why i go through the path of illustration. Well, it's hard, but i enjoy the process quite alot. That might sound so cliche but that's just how it is...hehe. English is not my first language but i do hope you understand what i mean.
My friend just introduced me to your channel and I am so impressed with how easily you walk us through how to do this braid. I can't wait to watch more! Thank you for helping inspire newbies like myself to try my hand at drawing.

Awesome! I've been looking for an easier way to draw braids! Curious. What kind of tweaks would you do to have the braids on the head? Like Denaerys from Game of Thrones, how her braids were on her head, instead of hanging like traditional braids.

Diany 4 yes I'd love if he made a video like that also talking about if you're expected to be good at art to major in it for college.
There are some professional, highly successful artists that were self taught, like Bruce Timm of "Batman: The Animated Series" and "Justice League: Unlimited" fame.
So, no, it's certainly not necessary for everybody.
I understand that drawing from real life is important. But do I have master real life sketches before I go to a style that I prefer or make up.

One thing I have noticed with braided hair, in particular, is that there are usually some "break away" hairs, shorter bits of hair which stick out of any braid. How might you capture something like that? Would that be best done using just color pencils and maybe some white highlights? I find your drawings are amazing in how they develop and refine through the final stages especially.
Another thing I have wondered with many of your drawings of items of a more technical nature, do you have a photograph that you are referring to. Such as when you did the Star Wars videos, or the various animals? I understand studying the pictures, but are they kept handy as a quick reference or do you rely on your memory from studying the subjects?

Mine didn't work quite as well.
The way i does it is i draw a bunch of heart shapes along a line, and then just fill in the rest!
Would you PLEASE do a tutorial on how to draw Natsuki from Doki Doki Literature Club? I guess it's just me, but I've been trying to draw her for the past week and I can't seem to ever get it right. Hi, Mark. As we all become more cognizant of being inclusive of all races and ethnicities in our manga, could you provide some video on how to draw Afro-American hair manga-style? E.g. very curly, as opposed to the ringlets you've done in previous videos? You provide a black character in one of your Mastering Manga books, but he has a very short-cropped style. Thank you!

What kind of yeast buns do you make? Did you watch end result? I mean, all he'd have to do is add strains of hair coming out here and there and it would break that "yeast bun effect" and sell better as the real thing. But this isn't photo realism. It's more cartoon style.
Neeken You are right, but I don't know if an artist is happy to draw hair that doesn't look like hair. It looks too solid, no strains, like a braided yeast bun in the easter time. Even though it is not meant to look realistically.
Looks more like hair to me to be honest. Especially on the head of a character I'm sure. I doubt I'd be looking at it thinking "that looks like a yeast bun".
