You are honestly my favorite person to study art from. You're not taking it as seriously as people I used to study art from, you're easy to understand, and your videos taught me quite a lot. Thank you a lot for uploading such videos and making my drawings not look like they were a bunch of boxes beaten into a plank (actually what they looked like).

I started watching your videos when I was a seventh grader. I am now a freshman in college. I had never been naturally gifted in art, but by practicing and learning from your videos over the years, I have been able to draw and paint characters with ease. For me, drawing manga characters has always been a fun past-time and stress reliever. I can't thank you enough for all the fun I've had with it over the years. Thank you for teaching me how to draw.

Hey mark can you do viewer voted drawing. Heres How I imagine it would work:
    1. Set up online survey for us to vote on feature of a character (eyes, hair, accessories, pose, etc.)
    2. review the results of most voted
    3. draw to the best of your ability the pose and character that was voted for and see how you envisioned our choices.
Thanks mark and can't wait for more videos!

what I like about MC's way of teaching is how he's able to know what aspiring manga creators struggling with and effectively solve those problems. Also, somehow manage to like say that "its up to you... " or "it depends on what you prefer to do.." . Not limiting the potential and ways to explore.

11:05 without mentioning it, Mark is also obeying the laws of physics with those extra strands. notice the strands are on the side where she is leaning forward. remember, hair doesn't just float in the air for no reason. even in manga, hair physics applies. think about weight , wind, and even hair gell.

+markcrilley I wish my art teacher were like you. Here in germany we don't learn how to draw we have to teach ourselves. Could you make a video where people have to suggest how arts should be taught ? . Would be awesome and I would like to hear some of your and the communities suggestions.
But you should take into consideration that arts class start at the age of 10 and go on up until you are 18 years old.
What I think is the big Problem is that the teachers expect that you know how to draw when you enter 11th grade but they never taught you how to do it . All we did for example was getting instructions what to do and then we did it however we wanted and the rating was kind of random ( you already did a video about this ).
Have a nice day everybody even if you didn't read this :P
      Good night

+prettyhearts1234 Step One; Draw a metric $hit ton of fan art. Step Two; discover the subtle differences. Step Three expand upon said differences. Note that you must be able to distinguish "differences" from "mistakes." Step Four;' Drink a bunch of moonshine from Clayton distillery. Damn I love this stuff. Completely unrelated note, I wonder what would happen if I drew while drunk. I love you guys.

    • @saloosh777
      @saloosh777 9 лет назад +1

I know it's a little late to reply, but the only way to find your sense of style is by obviously learning how to draw realistically. You might not like the realistic style of drawings, but when you learn how to draw realistically or semi-realistic, it opens doors to other styles. So you can basically draw a character with a semi-realistic look then exaggerate their features to your liking. It helps looking at pictures you like the style they're drawn in too. Like for me, I like the softly drawn and colored style, but I still need to learn how to draw semi-realistically in order to achieve this style too.

Great clip! I've been having a major mental block when it comes to giving volume/form to hair and this has been very helpful. Thanks!
In the future I would love for you to do this again with a more complex hair style with waves, spirals, etc.

The best thing about learning from Mark is that he literary takes you step by step to explain & even show you how to do anything when it comes to drawing. Hair was my biggist problem now i can feel i can do this no problem all these other drawing tutorials just go on a huge time laps & they don't even talk for the most part. Cheers Mark =^_^=

Mark believe it or not, my area does not carry mastering manga volume two, howver it does carry volume one. I'm working on finding volume two rght now in my area (surrounding cities) just to see how availible it is. So far: Jo-ann fabric store has vol 1 not two, pat cantan has none, and the bookstores only have vol 1 so... I'll update it when i find a issue of vol two xD. P.S. i live in Ohio near cleveland =3.

No, I'm serious. If you want to use that template here, just do it and then look how you could shorten it. There wouldn't be a big difference. Well, no, it would be easier, actually. Just make the line, but stop it in the heiht of the left hairs. That's all, I think. :')
