    Just fitting Heated grips and have ordered the wiring kit, just a little warning to people , when trying to remove the front screws that hold the usb box thing , the captive nuts in the plastic started to spin, "why have Harley got to put Locktite on everything?" anyway had to drill 1.5 mm hole just deep enough into the captive nut so as to jam with a pick. Even the simplest of jobs go T*ts up. thanks for all your videos mate .

    I recently picked up a Garmin Zumo GPS for use on my new Heritage 114. I found this video, when I was looking for a way to connect to my battery, for power while riding. This video let me know what part to go find, and I did at my local dealership. Your video was VERY helpful, and I knew exactly what to do when I popped off the left side cover. The only clarification that I'd like to add to your video is that if you only want ignition-ON power into (and out of) the accessory electrical harness, you don't have to connect battery power directly into the stock connector. This was the case for me. So, all that I did was connect the accessory electrical harness onto the stock connector and instantly had ignition-ON power. I soldered a connector (from my RC Airplane supplies) onto the Purple and Black wires (with the opposing half onto the device positive/return wires), for powering my Garmin Zumo GPS.

    AS velikijoxotnik said 3 months ago, this is now exactly my plan as well, with a Garmin Zumo XT2.. Thanks for your videos, and I hope it all goes well. I'm still sweating removal of the fuel tank, so I'm heading off to find that video! Thanks again.

    Thanks Alf, that’s info you wouldn’t find out about on ones Softail in a lifetime!
    I have my fuel tank off atm for handlebar swap so have added the USB 12 volt upgrade per your video. I had to provide the HD part number you showed on the Vlog to my local Dealer.
    Great upgrade to power my Garmin Nav for example.
    So happy it runs from accessories instead of potentially running the battery flat, if direct from the actual battery.
    Much appreciated Alf. 👍💪

    Gday Alf, I found myself with the USB box open yesterday, thankyou to your excellent videos on Tank, fuse removal. I have installed heated grips, but have no power plug on my 2019 SG (I believe the 2020 models do have it on) anyway in leiu of having this 69201750 harness, I am thinking of splicing into the 2 red and black wires going to the USB plug.

    Another very useful video Alf, thanks. I just finished installing this harness and Y splitter on my 2019 SG and I have a couple of comments that others may find useful. Firstly, my horn assembly is fixed slightly differently to Alf’s bike, by a nut at the rear. If you have crash bars fitted, they limit the amount of forward movement you have. The Y splitter does not include the mating connectors for onward wiring, you will need to order these separately. Alf mentions that the caddy is partly fixed with plastic fasteners; on my bike there are two, one thru a tab to the left side of the bike and and one thru a tab to the underside of the frame at the rear of the caddy. At one point Alf says that they are a “faff” to remove and if you break one use some other method of fastening. Which leads me to think that Alf may have broken one... 🤔 The fasteners are similar to those used in cars to fix trim panels. The fastener is in two parts, a central pin and a body into which it is inserted; the body is pushed fully home through the fixing holes in the items to be fastened, then the pin is inserted fully. This action expands the body so that it cannot be withdrawn. The body has a collar that has two recesses at opposite sides, and the head of the pin is flush with this collar once inserted. To remove the fastening insert a wide flat-bladed screwdriver into one of the recesses and rotate the blade round it’s axis so as to lever up the pin head so that it can be removed, then the body can be withdrawn without damage. Trying to remove the body forcibly without removing the pin will snap it. (I didn’t).

    I took the wires out of that box. Wrapped the wires and tucked them into the frame. Then ran the 12 volt up to my handle bars. Looks pretty clean that way.

    Good stuff my man. I installed this electric upgrade connection last week. For now im only using the 3 wires for an amp/speaker set-up. This is perfect because i dont have to cut/splice into any existing wires for the switch/ignition control and the battery stays clean for future accessories.

    Harley doesn't seem to sell this part anymore. The plug to tap off of is a DT06-2S but I need to know what the small black connector type is so i can make my own harness adapter..would you have a model number for that plug? Love your videos, they have helped me a great deal. Thank you!

    Can you confirm the socket type - in the video you mention a T264 connector, but it looks like a 2-pin Deutsch connector. When I google a T264 connector, nothing comes up. Thanks

    Hi Alf, excellent video as always. Is this 12V circuit to usb port protected by a fuse? If yes, where is this fuse located? My USB just stopped working. Do you have any advice? Thanks. Jack

    • @RevelatorAlf
      @RevelatorAlf  3 года назад

      Hi thanks. So yes this is a 12v supply to the USB but it is stepped down to 5V by a resistor in the USB block. All this accessory power is controlled and fed by the BCM. There isn't a separate fuse for this as it should all be fed by the main system fuse.
      The most likely reason is either a failure of the USB port itself or just check how clean the USB port outlet is itself because it can gather dirt and moisture over a period of time especially if you have an accessory connected to it and have ridden in rain or roads with any kind of grime.
      Hope this helps. Please let us know what you find out to be the final cause. Cheers

      If you have access to an accessories catalog then try looking for those in tourers. Cheers

    Great video! If I’m using this to provide 12v power to an amp via remote wire I shouldn’t need a ground wire should i? It’s a plex audio 2.0 audio system. It has power and ground hooked directly to the amp and the back of the amp also has a remote wire connection that needs 12v to power on/off the amp when the ignition is turned on or off. All I should have to do is connect that remote wire to the positive side of the new harness and connect that to the remote terminal on the back of the amp and since the amp is already grounded via battery it should work correct? The power harness for the amp has an inline fuse so it should be protected. Let me know if my logic is correct

    Hey Alf, what about a dual USB that is on a Y that plugs directly into the existing USB port. Like a two headed snake.

    • @RevelatorAlf
      @RevelatorAlf  4 года назад +2

      Yes there's no problem with that but it will only have 5v. Cheers

    This looks like a great way to wire up my cooling fans I bought from love jugs. They give you a grey accessory plug to hookup to your bike but Harley removed that accessory plug on the ‘21 and later models and love jugs didn’t bother to change their design nor do they care apparently from trying to get information from them? They are kinda jerkoffs really. I will definitely never do business with them again. I could go straight to the battery but I just don’t want to unless I absolutely have to.
