Football is really the ultimate team sport. Quarterbacks get most of the love. But the passes don't count if the receivers can't catch. And the passes won't even be attempted if the blockers don't block. Everyone has to do their job for a play to work properly.
I'm a lifelong Chiefs fan and Mahomes is insane. But here's what I think makes Mahomes so different. He was a pitcher and shortstop in his baseball career. I actually think he pitches the football. I mean I've seen him throw what appeared to be a curveball. Shortstops tend to be pretty mobile and agile and I think that's why he can move the way he does.
In regards to Mahomes receivers, the truly exceptional ones have been Tyreek Hill (who wasn't on the team last year, is now with the Dolphins) and Travis Kelce the tight end (legitimately the greatest TE of all time). But the vast majority of the weapons you see him throwing to aren't really all that when compared to other team's weapons (the Bengals or Eagles wide receivers for example, are all superstars). Robinson, Watkins, Hardman, Pringle, Fortson, Watson, Schuster, Valdez-Scantling, or running backs like Williams, Edwards-Elaire, Mckinnon: all of these players have their individual strengths, and the Chiefs coach Andy Reid finds ways to enhance those strengths better than most. But they would all be slightly above average to well below average compared to other weapons around the league. But yeah, if you want jaw dropping career highlights of one of his weapons, you want Travis Kelce. He is one of the most refined route runners to ever play the game.
dude im a huge jags fan. we have been so bad for my entire life (23 years old) i expect us to be as good as weve ever been this season. hope you continue to represent DUUUVAL
His dad was a professional baseball player and Patrick played baseball at a high level. I always thought he looked like a shortstop fielding a backhand ground ball throwing to first when he throws the football off balance and off his back foot and with the different arm slot releases
Hope you feel better. You mentioned the receivers that Mahomes throws to . . . well, Kelce (87) is a go-to guy, but Mahomes can throw to anyone. One of the announcers said that Mahomes can make anyone catching the ball look good. If you watch, he does try to spread the ball around. He throws to recievers, tight ends, running backs, it doesn't matter. In fact, in the AFC Championship game (I think that is the right game) Mahomes was playing injured and many of the receivers got hurt too. Thus, Mahomes was throwing to backups, rookies, and special teams players (while on one good foot) and still helped get the job done. He for sure is one of the best QBs in the NFL right now.
He uses Jerrick McKinnon a lot as well, they combined 9 times last season which is miraculous given that McKinnon is a running back...well, that's his official position but he tends to peel off and turn into a receiving option He was crocked vs the Jags, Bengals and Eagles but still found a way One of?? Nah he is THE best bar none, even Josh Allen the QB of the Buffalo Bills said it
Like your videos. Please understand when the Chiefs won super bowl LIV it was the first time since super bowl LV, 50 years. So the vast majority of Chiefs fans had waited their entire lives to see it hence the jubilation
The way he throws the ball is so natural, you can tell he was never taught that way it’s just a gift. It’s almost more akin to a shortstop the way he flicks it with such little effort, feet planted or not, doesn’t matter he’s putting it on a rope.
Positive yards start from the line of scrimmage. If that line is at the 30 and your QB throws from the 10 and the ball carrier gets to the 40 it’s still only a 10 yard pass. Now if the WR catches the ball at the 40 and gets to the 50 that’s 10 YAC (Yards After Catch). It’s still 20 yards total for both the passer and the catcher, but I hope that helps.
5:58 The yardage only goes as far as the area between the two endzones in terms of yards gained. So that play from the 1 yard line is only worth one yard even if the ball travels farther than that in the air! It also only counts yards gained from the actual line of scrimmage
A pass is counted as the total yards gained - so nothing behind the line of scrimmage counts, and yards gained after the catch by the receiver (YAC) do count.
The yardage only counts from the line of scrimmage when passing the ball. The yardage stops immediately at the goal line. So that 1 yard pass vs Las Vegas to Kelce for a TD -- can only be 1 yard because the goal line meets the "end zone".. think of it as "end of field yards". Once you enter inside the 10 yard line with a new set of downs - yardage can be only extend to the goal line.
Yeah I was gonna say. That’s why Kelce had the weirdest fantasy score that week. Like under 50 yards receiving yet he still had 24 points from touchdowns or something weird
I would enjoy if you could react to some lacrosse as it is a underrated sport. I would recommend biggest hits from the 2019 NCAA season and NCAA lacrosse 2018: best hustle plays and goals. Keep up the great content!!!
The man is simply an athletic beast. He almost throws the football like it's a baseball. I bet he'd even have made a hell of a striker, given the chance to play the beautiful game. Chiefs shoulda been your first team, but after seeing the hammers kit, I suppose you like an underdog haha.
The Chiefs actually have one of the worst receiving (receivers) cores in the entire league, they just happen to have Mahomes who’s by far the best QB and Kelce who’s arguably the greatest Tight End ever.
You're wrong about the Chiefs receiving corps. How many more super bowls do they have to win to prove idiots like you wrong? PFF has the Chiefs receiving corps at #11 and The Atlantic has them at #14, making them solidly in the top half in the league. Which is far from "one of the worst in the league" as you stupidly put it. Also, they don't "just happen to have Mahomes." Show some respect to Reid, Veach and co for recognizing his talent, and helping to develop him as a QB.
the kelce Brothers are probably the best 2 in the league at their respective positions. Travis is probably the best tight end ever. And Jason definitely in the conversation for best center ever at least up there with Jeff saturday. You should definitely look more into the kelce brothers.
You keep talking about the catchers, most of his highlight film are nobodies. Hill and Kelce are the only two stars he has, he just had his best year without Hill, and with a bunch of throw away from other teams. The receivers that have left the Chiefs not named hill have done nothing since leaving, some aren’t even on a team. Mahomes is the best we have ever seen, and last year proves he can win a sb with an average defense and other teams trow always…
the yardage of passes are from the line of scrimmage (black line) to wherever the receiver catches it unless it is for a touchdown, then it is from the line of scrimmage to the line of the end zone, and not to where the receiver catches it.
When next to End Zone, like the 1 yard line, QBs only get credit for 1 yard pass. Whatever ground the QB covers Behind the line of scrimmage doesn’t count, only the positive yards past the line!!
There's nothing wrong with liking both the Giants and the Chiefs. They're not even in the same conference. I have a favorite team in the NFC also. If we're lucky, we get a Chiefs/Giants Super Bowl.
While it is essential that wide receivers can catch well and be where they need to be, in this case the majority of the praise does go to Mahomes. While still good enough to be professionals, the wide receivers for the 2022 Chiefs were easily the worst wide receiver talent of Mahomes' career. The 2 main receivers, Juju Smith-Schuster and Marquez Valdez-Scantling, were both declined to be resigned by their previous teams last year, which mean those teams didn't think they were good enough to stay on the roster. The Chiefs then got to sign them for cheap contracts since no other team seriously wanted them and Mahomes got substantially better production out of them than their previous teams could, enough to win the super bowl.
Chiefs receivers are super mid. Nobody is terrible but they definitely aren't great. Kelce is that dude though. Best TE in football. Mahomes elevates everyone as long as they keep working when he gets out of the pocket. If Toney stays healthy for the whole season...my lord the Chiefs might not lose a game. That guy is shifty like very few are and I believe led the team in targets per route ran when he was in there. He picked up the playbook quickly and Mahomes seemed to trust him almost from the jump.
I'm a huge Chiefs fan but if you like scrambling quarterbacks you should check out Lamar Jackson from the ravens. He's probably the best QB in the NFL when it comes to making plays with his legs for sure.
Don't forget about Justin Fields! He rushed for over 1,100 yards last year. He came close to breaking the QB rushing record. Lamar is great too though.
Great video! can you continue reacting to more NBA? i recommend watching lebron james highlights to get a good understanding of how hes been on top of the league for 20 years
Patrick is the best❤
So happy to have him as our QB in Kc!
The same
He's Just a regular Quarterback dude.....Dak Prescott, he the man,!
Really?
Get well!!!
Football is really the ultimate team sport. Quarterbacks get most of the love. But the passes don't count if the receivers can't catch. And the passes won't even be attempted if the blockers don't block. Everyone has to do their job for a play to work properly.
Pacheco wound up being the main RB in the 2022-2023 season and he is a BEAST!!!!
He's a dawg for sure.
We are definitely blessed in Kansas city
In regards to Mahomes receivers, the truly exceptional ones have been Tyreek Hill (who wasn't on the team last year, is now with the Dolphins) and Travis Kelce the tight end (legitimately the greatest TE of all time). Mahomes leads the league with 22% of his games having 4 touchdowns or more. No one else is even close.
nice stat

Mahomes will be the 🐐 if he keeps this playing level up fr

You are DOING GREAT 👍 YOU ARE BEGINNING TO GRASP THE CONCEPTS & THE BEAUTY OF WELL EXECUTED AMERICAN FOOTBALL 🏈
Love your reactions!
you gotta watch the divisional round game between bills and chiefs. it was insane

This man can throw a football 80 yards off his knees. I’m not even joking he’s done it before
I love how you're witching NFL greatness in Mahomes whilst also learning the basics. 🤣🤣🍻 Most other teams are boring in comparison
I suggest you to react to mike Vick one of the first great scrambling quarterback
Chiefs Kingdom welcomes you as another outpost of football excellence!!!
MORE PATTY MAHOMES HIGHLIGHTS??? LFG!❤️💛
Mom says his name is Patrick!🤣😉

Gale Sayers, the "Kansas Comet" had 6 td's in one game, and easily could've had 7.
Rushing TD's that was... Receiving TD's the record is 5
He didn't specify
The man is simply an athletic beast. He almost throws the football like it's a baseball. I bet he'd even have made a hell of a striker, given the chance to play the beautiful game. Chiefs shoulda been your first team, but after seeing the hammers kit, I suppose you like an underdog haha.

The Chiefs actually have one of the worst receiving (receivers) cores in the entire league, they just happen to have Mahomes who’s by far the best QB and Kelce who’s arguably the greatest Tight End ever.
They don't even need good receivers. Andy Reid's scheming forces people to be open.
its corps like the marine corps... not "cores"
You're wrong about the Chiefs receiving corps. How many more super bowls do they have to win to prove idiots like you wrong? Jason is definitely one of the best in the league currently, but Creed Humphrey is right up there with him.
Please watch the rest! You're yet to see one of the most wild passes in NFL history!
You talking about the flip to McKinnon?
You keep talking about the catchers, most of his highlight film are nobodies. American football did not exist before Patrick Mahomes
Feel better, bud👍
That spin TD against tampa is PEAK Mahomes you cant even attempt that in Madden....i try and just get sacked
I think he channels the former baseball pitcher in him. He seems to actually pitch the ball.
It was a 1 yard TD pass from the line of scrimmage but Pat was a lot further back
Jags. Nice adopted team. Not a bandwagon, not without hope. Someone to root for.
Really, it's like everyone has said before, the reason he can throw like that is because he is so baseball player, who is great at football
When next to End Zone, like the 1 yard line, QBs only get credit for 1 yard pass. Whatever ground the QB covers Behind the line of scrimmage doesn’t count, only the positive yards past the line!!
The NFL record for receiving TDs in a game is 5 and it is shared by three people: Jerry Rice, Kellen Winslow, and Bob Shaw.
You won’t hear of these receivers if they’re not with Mahomes lol
you should watch this video about my favorite baseball teams and how they saved baseball in my state. "The Team That Killed Moneyball: The 2002 Twins"
15 royals better
Funny I live near Jacksonville so I am a jags fan but jack youngblood was my great uncle so we are born chiefs fans
This is the season that the Chiefs weren't even supposed to go to the playoffs because they were "restructuring".
Also the record for receiving touchdowns in one game is 5
There's nothing wrong with liking both the Giants and the Chiefs. They're not even in the same conference. I have a favorite team in the NFC also. If we're lucky, we get a Chiefs/Giants Super Bowl.
6 TD’s is the most ever thrown in a game but it’s been done a few times
Could’ve sworn it was 7
@@natemakesnoise you’re right my bad G 💯

The chiefs have running backs that can get the job done.

His receivers aren’t great besides Kelce.
