The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

Thanks for the teen idols selections.
A lot of comments focus on the title of the video. I focused on the video which was superb and every segment brought a smile to my face!
I love this video. Brings so much good memories.
You were there weren't ya lover
All FABULOUS SINGER’S and ENTERTAINER’S From Way Back Then !!!! And There Where Many Other’s Also !!! ❤Loved Them All 😊 Music Was and Will Always Be The BEST From Those Happy Years Gone By 😊
Sir Tom had an amazing voice.
He still has an amazing voice but 'teen idol' never!
Top show 👏👏
Só artistas de primeira linha meus amigos!!! 🎸🎼🎶🎼
This was really nice!
Perfect video
Seen everyone one of them! Best tunes ever!
Ricky Nelson with his eyes closed as always 😂😂😂
I like the Bye Bye Gary on Gary Lewis and the Playboys. He had just been drafted into the Army and ended up in Vietnam.
It was pretty obvious that Lesley GOD had to be in this top
Classic
Pat Boone
Tom Jones was a lounge act for the older folks, NOT a "Teen Idol." Same with Pat Boone.
We're in the Hell is Frankie lymon& the teenagers. They were ( Real Teenagers)
I never heard of Dino, Desi and Billy. I also didn't think Tom Jones was a teen idol, but I was a child then, so I don't know. Ricky, Fabian, and Pat were. I guess the ladies may have been, too, but again, I was too young. Thanks for the clips.
RICK NELSON AND PAT BOONE WERE IN THEIR MID-TWENTIES
GARY LEWIS WAS 21. NELSON HATED BEING CALLED RICKY, AND HIS
ALBUM AND 45 RPM COVERS ALL BILLED HIM AS RICK NELSON AT THE TIME THIS WAS FILMED. HIS BIRTH NAME WAS ACTUALLY ERIC
HILLIARD NELSON.
Respectfully😊😊
@@miltonmoore8369 I don't know why I called him "Ricky." I don't usually. Lol. Thanks for the info.
Sadly, Dino Martin was killed in an accident during his stint in the CA Air Guard, he flew into a hill or mountain in clouds during training with his RIO in a F-4C Phantom II fighter
Not sure if it's available still, but a model decal markings maker had a sheet of his aircraft with other 'Aircraft of the Stars' subjects, including Col. to Brigadier General James Stewart B-17G he piloted in WWII Europe.
"Billy" was Billy Hinsche, who was very close to the Beach Boys' circle and joined the BB touring band in the mid-70s. He died in 2021.
Dino Desi and Billy werent so famous, but Dino was Dean Martin son, probably thats why they where on the ed sullivan, but they where good
soy fans de este canal
Great video with some fun edits and transitions but who made this list 😂 No Elvis or Paul Anka??!!
No Elvis?
Yeah, that’s a shocker.
That and no Paul Anka!? 😢
GENIAL
Hope to see Paul Anka in a part 2 🥰
Gary Lewis???? Tom Jones??? Pat Boone?? debateable Who picked these
Tommy Sands, Fabian, and Pat Boone were out of their depth with the rest of this talent.
Pat Boone?
I think he was a bit of one for the squeaky clean image. I don't know.
Pat Boone was my mom’s favorite when she was a teen in the 50’s and 60’s. She liked his clean-cut, conservative, Christian image. She told me that she was never crazy for Elvis.
Yeah that Pat Boone performance was worth waiting for. Elvis didn’t make the cut I see.
Tom Jones? Teen idol? I thought his appeal was to middle-aged women.
Agreed. He did appear in British teen type magazines at first, but his popularity began to slip. By 1966, onward his image was retooled by his management and Jones became a crooner. Being a crooner changed the demographic of his audience and led to great success.
Yep! My mom loved him!
Not exactly the video I would have made. Some on here were not considered teen idols and some who were teen idols were not placed in this video. If I were this channel, I would avoid highlight videos anyway as they really serve no purpose to those who follow this channel.
Boy, you're "Mr. Positivity," aren't you? 🤨
@@dariowiter3078 - Constructive criticism is usually welcome to those who have an open mind to improve.
Well opinions are that. Ricky Nelson definitely was a teen idol. Leslie gore was for many so I don’t understand the comment. Oh they’re not his choice. Before his time I guess
@@lechatbotte. - What exactly did you not understand about the word "some" ("some on here were not considered teen idols"). So, you select three who were teen idols and therefore you don't understand the comment. Oh, developing reading comprehension in school was before your time, I guess.
@@shyman99 lol you’re so funny. I only named the first three but actually they were teen and a but older idols. You’re entitled to your opinion, but you’re not correct.
IF this was modern AGT then Wilson wins, Jones a close second and the Ricky/James combo get the green ribbon.
You left out the Beatles and Elvis?
Где Элвис!!!!???
Тоже искала его)) Но, нам дали Рики Нельсона и Фэбиана вместо короля ))
some are lip syncing such as Ricky, Gary and the Dino bunch so it appears Ed let some get away with the old Lazy lip sync. for shame. might as well have cardboard cut outs of their images that we can stare at while the studio plays the song rather then see them for real flapping their mouth. It appears Ed on "Preferred" them to sing rather than Requiring" them to sing. Fortunately, most of them loved to sing and respected the audience and sang rather than lip synced on Ed's show. Those will be the ones that are remembered and appreciated.
The most beloved Teenage Idol 1956/57 a guy called Elvis Presley ... not a single TV Snip? Elvis was the most back in the 50's...ooops; sorry my bad
The Beatles are still the greatest 🥱
THE ONLY TRUE "TEEN IDOLS" IN THIS VIDEO ARE FABIAN FORTE, BRENDA LEE AND LESLEY GORE.
I REALLY ENJOYED THIS MONTAGE OF VOCALISTS. ALL ARE STILL ALIVE EXCEPT FOR JACKIE WILSON AND RICK NELSON.
(DIDN'T CHECK ON DINO, DESI AND BILLY).
MY FAVORITE SONG WAS "FOOL NUMBER ONE" BY BRENDA MAY TARPLEY.
LESLEY GORE HAD THE CLASSIC "FACE TO DIE FOR" IN HER TEENS. AND THE PERFECT "HAIR-DO" TO ENHANCE HER BEAUTY. TO FIND A MORE ALLURING FACE I WOULD HAVE TO NAME
VAROUS ACTRESSES. BUT AMONG VOCALISTS, SHE WAS THE "TOPS" AMONG VOCALISTS.😊
Actually, Pat Boone was a teen idol at the beginning of rock & roll in the mid-1950s. He was in all the popular teen magazines of the day.
Read my notation above 🎉
There's a couple rare Brenda Lee, when she was young "Little Miss Dynamite" of "Jambalaya", her first hit at 14 on RUclips channels
@@terrencemccoy8219 a teen idol doesn't have to be a teenager. It's a performer that teenagers idolize. The Beatles when they first arrived in America were teen idols. Just look at the pre-teen and teenage girls that was screaming at them on the Ed Sullivan show.
Desi Arnez junior is still alive....Dino & Billy are both gone.
No Elvis😂😂😂
What a weird list.... Tom Jones was hardly for teenagers.... Pat Boone was always a joke... Tommy Sands and Fabian were manufactured ... Ricky Nelson several years past his teen idol prime
good reminder that not all the music from the past was good....obviously Jackie Wilson...Brenda Lee...Tom Jones..are exceptions here...and i would feel remise if i dont mention the repulsive pat boone
What?, no Elvis!
