Another sub-adult visitor makes an appearance today. This time Jackie and Shadow are not too tolerant. The visitor get yelled at (a lot) and flushed off the Stick Depot Snag by Shadow (once).
Bald eagles may be tolerant to other eagles outside the nesting context, they are known to be quite social in the off-season. During the nesting season, they are known to chase away even their former offspring.
The visitor shows signs of molt, which makes them a Sub-Adult. It is always hard to age them definitively in low light: 3 years (+/- 1 year) would be my best guess.

The first close fly kind of seemed like an offspring saying, "Look at me, mom and dad!" I'm doing good! Watch me! It just felt like it was meant to happen exactly like that. I mean, think of Shadow and Jackie going through a tough time this season trying to create new life, and it's just not happening. In comes another juvenile to be near them for whatever reason. The universe does provide whatever is needed in the strangest ways and the perfect times. Just my thought, though. I think it's pretty cool.

@branevans3705 , @PuffKitty Ty Watching it gave me good goosebumps. I love seeing these two and their incredible connection with each other. They give off loving and dedicated vibes it truly heartwarming. I can actually see their offspring making visits back. ❤ That sub adult, I'm sure, kept them an their toes but not in such an aggressive way as if it were real trouble approaching. I can't wait to see their next clutch. Fingers crossed and defy the odds and an egg appears in the nest. 🥰

Could it be Spirit? I haven't heard a peep about her since she fledged months ago??
I truly believe that the sub-adult is Spirit. She seems lonely so she goes to the places she knows her parents will be. Just to be around her own kind now & then

I think it is interesting that these visitors don't seem to be too shy about landing on a tree with two adult bald eagles already on it. There is so much to learn about these beautiful creatures and I appreciate how you work to keep us educated, Cali, thank you.

Could be Simba. I would think that Spirit wouldn't have that much white on her head, but I wouldn't know anyways it's a beautiful Eagle

OH that 'spirited' youth coming for a visit, Shadow says 'no soup for you'! Then a little mom/daughter (possibly) time😉

Maybe the sub adult is trying to make Jackie and Shadow feel better by hanging around. At least they are keeping the nest ready for eggs. The season is over with.
What are the possibilities that immature could be Spirit? That would be a trip; just saying…😉
That subadult is probably around 3 based on the color pattern so Spirit would not be old enough
