I found Hallucinogenics stopped me from enjoying music. The pleasure of rhythm was lost, sounds appeared random and changed tempo haphazardly. Emotive sounds had no emotion and led to a 'Bad Trip'. It was only when I got into the natural world that I felt comfortable and able to enjoy the experience. Watching clouds move across the sky and leaves blown by the wind into shapes was far more rewarding an experience. I also lost my sense of taste and smell which deprived me of a great deal of pleasure. Ecstasy was for me the most profound drug, relieving me of all frustrations, paranoia and complicated social norms. And the music sounded amazing!!
To each its own. Hey, if something works better for you, then by all means stick to it. For some people certain entheogens aren't always a solution to the matter. It all depends on you, on how you work with it. Find what makes you balanced, and function best. That way you can be your ideal self and bring to the world whatever it is you bring.
