  • "Spotlight" - NATIVE AMERICAN ARTISTRY - WAMPUM ARIST - This is a segment in the Native American Artistry series, produced by Paul Larson, and presented as a "Spotlight" segment on Mountain Lake PBS programs. Iroquois artisan Ken Maracle is one of the few masters of wampum bead pieces. The Native American Artistry pieces are produced by Mountain Lake PBS in cooperation with the New York State Historical Association's Fenimore Art Museum in Cooperstown, New York. This project is also a partnership with the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services. "Spotlight" is made possible, in part, by the Glenn and Carol Pearsall Adirondack Foundation, dedicated to improving the quality of life for year-round residents of the Adirondack Park. www.pearsallfoundation.org

Glad to hear the seventh generation mentioned. We all need to consider them and the earth they will have when it is their time.

Wampum beads are made with Quahog and Whelk shell. Those are glass beads strung in Wampum belt style. Still pretty tho

At 4:48 when he turns his head you can see his hair. Go to a pow wow and you will see not everyone has long hair and braids. Looks like stereo typing on your part.

When I'm trying to listen and watch the videos, how can I turn off the lame-ass music? This music drowns out what the crafters on the video is saying and I can't hear them?

That lame ass music as you so rudely call it goes along with the video quite well since it is Native American music. What a silly comment to make.
