craig m, given how quickly the players and owners agreed to a collective bargaining agreement this time around i think you're way off here. unless you're talking about the owners i don't get your point. for every kobe there is a tim duncan. i know a lot of middle to lower tier guys sign huge contracts that they don't deserve, but somebody has to offer those guys a contract before they can sign it.
Well, yes but playoffs will always grow bigger for more revenue. Now that there are 16 playoff teams, they won't bring it back, when there are really some teams that don't deserve to be in the playoffs.
I agree. And 7 game series are boring as hell. If the Cavs are up 2-0 early in the playoffs, I'm not going to watch until series is 2-2. There's no point.
Notification Squad it was a back to back where Cleveland hosted Memphis first and the next day Memphis hosted Cleveland. Gasol rested in the first game where the big three was actually playing.
I'm not gonna lie. If anyone in this comment section played basketball, and I mean that hardcore ball. Like not just like street 2v2 or some 3v3. I mean that full 5v5 intense ball games. If anyone played full 5v5 games then this would make sense lol. The stain on these muscle head players are HUGE. I just finished playing about 4 or 5 5v5 games back to back to back. 5 minute breaks (minimum). I don't work out or nothing. However I do stay in shape. Run, jog, etc. plus the fact that I'm only 19 still pretty Young, also never had any major injuries. I can tell you guys that my body HURTS. My legs are on FIRE right now and its hard to walk normally. Imagine for some of these NBA guys. All muscle heads. Daily workouts. body in strain every day. The fact that they play that back to back is beyond astonishing.
Maze- Shadow I had a knee injury I didnt think it was anything serious but I couldn't walk. Only lasted for like a week tho. Felt like I shattered my kneecap completely
Jashua Montrose they obviously take care of themselves outside of games, diet, ice baths, efficient workouts with little intensity, in order to be able to play these games
that won't matter whether he sees this. Men like him only has interests on money. The well being of players, or other people, are not of his concerns. He gets the money and that's all he cares
Yes, there are too many back to back games. The only way to solve that is to extend the amount of games. The NBA can't squish 82 games in 164 games. That guarantees multiple back to back games each year. 9:03 - Proof
exactly.if teams played every 2 or 3 days all the time it would be ok. Mike in this vid said one thing i was thinking for a long time. Why the hell does the NBA season have to start in late october and not on october 1st? i dont get it either!!!!
I like the video and I see where he's coming from but not only is there multiple reasons as to why this would be impossible but there are many reasons why it wouldn't be good. However I agree on the preseason stuff and I would go as far to say that no sport should have a preseason
Johncarlos Ramirez Well do you mind to explain how this is not good? I'm not even attacking you. I'm genuinely curious unlike some of these other commentators.....
DJ SCREW RIP yeah no doubt (warning long comment coming).this would cause there to be much more days where there is no game on at all which doesn't happen often. The nba has already reduced the amount of back to backs and are continuing to do so and also cut back to backs out the playoffs. Back to backs don't increase the chance of injury this is false,66 games is terrible because then games such as cavs golden state or cavs thunder would only happen once a year instead or their would be teams that don't even play each Other. They play basketball ppl bust their ass at work not having fun and making millions so these guys have to have everything 100% to their liking it's crazy. Also popovich resting his players isn't why they are very healthy. It's because he doesn't abuse their minutes and also doesn't hold many practices throughout the season and those practices are on style of play rather then performance. Lbj rested a game and was asked how he felt the next day or couple days after he said the same just cuz I didn't play doesn't mean I took the day off. The players train and workout so just cuz they don't play a game doesn't mean their body is actually resting. If you think an nba player who has played 12 games straight and then doesn't play one game will be rejuvenated like he took a week off that's false. Also popovich is known for restkngr players but it doesn't matter who is on the floor for the spurs they play the same style and have shown on many occasions that with their best players out the game they can win put on an exciting game or even if they don't win keep it competitive where they have a chance. The NBA season is fine what they should do but won't cuz their money hungry is cut the pre season out completely
1. A player plays less games per season (around 70/82), stays healthy longer, can perform better in the playoffs with his team having more chances for more rings, for more seasons. 2. A player plays A LOT of minutes in every game (82/82), risks getting injured and his body wearing down before he even reaches his mid-30s, is tired/injured in the playoffs and achieves less in his career. Who out of these 2 do you think will have the biggest, most memorable, most lasting legacy that will (1) make him a bigger legend, (2) increase the sales of his brand, (3) generate more fans as an epic player in the NBA and generate more money FOR the NBA? Players used to play EVERY game in a season, and ALSO used to have a much shorter career span (most players 20-30 years ago stopped playing around 34-35 years of age, today this is being pushed to 37-38)...
Excellent point. You see guys like Charles Barkley and he gets roasted for how he walks. Now he may be ok with that but the fact these old guys try to coax the younger generation to be in that position too? No thanks
Kickylegz Not when you are over 30. Your body will start breaking down and you will deal with injuries. Playing back-to-back games for 35-40 minutes each, increases this risk drastically. Keep in mind that these players also have a packed training schedule. Again, if you want to see a superstar play as they played 20-30 years ago, he can only do that for 14-15 years at most. Then his body starts breaking down. If you want 3-4 more years of him playing, you have to give him a pass on back-to-back games at least...
players need some warm-up match.. maybe not so much for a veteran star players, but for some rookies or new member of a certain team preseason is where they learn about their new team plays in real game situations.
The real problem is that the regular season is absolutely meaningless. Do you really think the Warriors care if they are the 1 seed or the 6th? They are most likely going to come out of the west it doesn't matter who they would play in the playoffs. Cowherd said it best to be honest, there should be half the amount of teams because the talent is getting stretched thin. How can you have a 30 team league and we know before the season starts who's going to the finals. 15 team league and all of a sudden you have much more entertaining games. Say if some teams merged, like the Wizards and 76ers. Two horrible teams but together You would have John Wall, Bradley Beal, Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid, Dario Saric possibly starting 5. With Jarryd Bayless Trey Burke and Gortat coming off the bench. I'm convinced that a 15 team league would be so stacked it would be impossible to tell who could win it all that year. Could you imagine what the competition would be like? Bench players would play their hearts out every game because the D league would be filled with players that want their spots back. Not only that there wouldn't be any garbage games on ever. Even the worst teams in the league would have at least 2 all star level players on their teams.
Mike you should have looked at the number of injuries in the playoffs from the 2011 lockout shortened season. That would have been a good indicator whether a shorter season leads to less injuries
What he is saying is more rest between games. Altho the shortened season had less games it also had less time to be played in. The actually played more games per week in that season, and had to do back2back2backs so the injuries actually may have been more.
Sam C Gamer not gonna lie i still laugh at him but he can ball he always could but its just hilarious what he does and imo that adds to his wtachabilty
agreed, the division/conference stuff is outdated - you could have a worse record just because of the division/conference you are in which leads to unfair situations
Giggs Will Tear You Apart No it doesn't. Back when Wilt played the pace of the game was faster then today's. Teams has way more possessions, the only reason teams didn't put up 200 a game was due to low FG%
Joey Tavares I'd display several video clips but that'd make me look bias... Also Adam Silver's got less courage than my 8 year old sister for saying KD was fouled on the last play of the Christmas game.
The refs have sucked for every sport for as long as their has been sports asking for better refs is like asking for better players we have the best their is and that's not saying young stars wont rise its just a statement saying there isn't any hiding out of the NBA lol
Well... the easy argument is "With how much they're paid, they can't complain". Anyway, that's debatable, because it gives them more time during the season to spend with their family and less injury risks.
Players are human too. They enjoy vacation as much as we enjoy days off of school. They not robot, not machine. Sure there's the 'goods' in cutting players' days off but doing so on 'fans' entertainment purpose only, isn't that us 'fans' being selfish?
I agree , 82 games is a long season and has alot of wear and tear on the body. Ive noticed alot of players are always banged up after their career is over . The NBA has to do a better job keeping players healthy. I witnessed to many stars careers end because of certain injuries , Such as Yao Ming , Brandon Roy , Greg Oden and etc. Im glad im not the only persson who realized this.
They all train year round anyways... They do get free-time but also you have to remember only few players go to Conference Finals and Finals... and for those who do, I think they will take a little off their vacation to be in the playoffs
One of the reasons why "more players are injured" in today's games compared to the past is technology & science. Meaning in the past a player would have a "sprained ankle" or somthn & they wrapped it up tightly and played while today's science shows that it's a "stress fracture" and for it to properly heal you'll have to be out 4-6weeks. I.e. There's NO WAY a team trainer or coach would allow a player to play like Bad Boyz Isaiah Thomas did when he played the entire 4th quarter with a messed up ankle. 💥THE BIGGEST ISSUE THAT EVERYONE IS SCARED TO MENTION IS💥 The players of today are more like "property or investments" and they are worth a whole lot more than players did in the past so they are trying to protect all of their $$$$$MONEY!$$$$$
There is one major issue with your solution of extending the NBA season: conflict with the NFL and MLB. These leagues all have agreements with each other so they don't overlap. If the NBA season started in early October, NFL ratings would thus plummet. Same with the MLB's ratings in late June and early July. On the contrary, the NFL would probably love to extend their season to reduce injury risk. They can't, since it would interfere with NBA and MLB ratings during their seasons. A better solution to the NBA injuries issue would be to shorten each game from 12 minute quarters to 11 or 10. That would be the most efficient way to reduce extreme minutes on players bodies.
Its not the minutes every game bro, its the amount of games (82) in a short period of time (164). what good is the ratings if the players are injured? I agree that it adds some drama though. extend the season schedule to remove back to back games so players can actually rest these leagues should really address this problem.
Hey mike I noticed something coming from the orlando magic organization. I've noticed that ex-players that played there some have come out the bench or not even get playing time on the floor, when they go to a new team they become starters and are more of value to the new team there are in currently. EX jj reddick, mo harkless, ryan anderson, in some way shaq, marcin gortat. It would be cool if you can put a little more research and make a video on it.
James Ortiz Y'all some damn haters. LeBron isn't the only OR main superstar that gets favoritism from refs. Jordan z Magic, Kobe, all of them got favored too. This "LeBron is the only superstar with favoritism" bs is ridiculous. You're just a hater if you disagree
You might think that the all-time numbers aren't important, but changing the season length would ruin the fundamental goal. And that's to be the greatest of all time. No one will ever have the same opportunity to beat Kareem's scoring record, Stockton's assist record, etc. The NBA has gone on too long to change that. but lengthening the season is something they should do. Pop and the rest of the organization shouldn't complain about having a "longer summer" if the NBA decides to go in that direction, and it doesn't take 3 months to recover. Players, themselves, say it takes them about 2-3 weeks after the finals before they start training again for the upcoming season so they should just lengthen the season to get rid of the back to back games altogether.
Alec Baldlose Just because I commented doesn't mean I "care" about what you said. I'm just pointing out how stupid you sounded there. You are the literal definition of an Internet tough guy
you nailed it, schedule fewer back to backs, and start the season earlier to lessen the amount of back to backs. Situations like 4 games in 5 nights on the road and 5 games that week alone (like what happened with the Spurs) is ridiculous.
Just wanna say I'm a big fan of your videos in general but I think you have some major flaws in logic in this particular video. If players today are bigger, stronger, faster and just overall better athletes and we have much better sports medicine/technology and training knowledge, shouldn't that mean that players should get injured less??? Shouldn't being aware of the best training techniques, nutrition, etc. help to keep players from getting injured??? Also, you mentioned how the game was rougher back then but then go on to say "That doesn't mean the game is any less physical now." I mean really?? I guess what you're trying to say is that players today are faster, jump higher, land harder, etc. and those kinds of high velocity actions increase risk of injury, but seriously??? I get in the 50s and 60s the game was not nearly the same and the athletes were crap, but in the 80s and 90s we had some pretty crazy athletes who were playing at just as high a level in a more physical game. You point out a couple skinny guys from back in the day in bad angles and then compare them to a select few of the more muscular guys today in good angles and use that as evidence to say players today are better athletes. But what about people like David Robinson, Karl Malone, Pippen, Jordan, Mourning, Rodman, Shaq, Ben wallace, etc, those guys were all physical specimens comparable to anybody today. What if I compared Kevin Durant to David Robinson to say players back then were inferior athletes?? People used to get mauled back in the day and take extremely high impact fouls...those are the type of things that routinely lead to injuries, yet there are way more injuries today. Maybe the question should be if our sports medicine and training knowledge is really as good as we think...
Your over-estimating the effect sports medicine and technology. Humans are humans, and they need rest. They jump higher now, dunk harder, run faster, and expend more energy putting more wear and tear on their bodies. When you couple that in with practices every day, and back to back road trips, it's exhausting. Injuries are also much more serious now because they can derail and entire franchise who spent years and hundreds of millions of dollars to just watch the team they built fall apart due to injuries. Your proving his point. Those guys were physical specimens and still had issues with injuries. Shaq was the spokesmen for icy hot lol. He had a toe injury that put him out for weeks. They were designed not to get injured, yet they still are. Sports medicine and training is a science, so they are as good as they've ever been. Can't really be wrong at this point. If athletes are getting injured at a higher rate despite less physical hits to the body (getting elbowed on a drive), better sports medicine and training, and just being better phsyical specimens, than clearly those things aren't enough.
Sandeep Sikerwar you can get faster stronger and better treatment but bones and ligaments are still the same. The stronger and faster you are the more force you exert onto your body, the court onto other players when you make contact.
Dude, I love how you took the time for something like this.. Your passion for basketball, the fans, and your intelligence really show!.. I hope people see that
Dude I found your channel 30 mins ago and I haven't left yet. This channel is my current binge, great work. You have single handedly resparked my interest in the league.
Hey Mike, I have never commented on a youtube video before but I thought this needed to be said. I do not watch basketball, do not play basketball, and frankly don't even enjoy the sport (more of a hockey guy). But the way you present these stories, theories and facts make all of that obsolete. Great content creator. I'm truly happy for your success.
the spurs n coach pop is doing this for years, resting their players for the playoffs and it worked, when was the last time the spurs did not make the playoffs? never, they will always be a playoff contender coz of coach pop
Agree. We know that it's their job and they get paid millions to play. But the increase of muscle mass, constant traveling, takes a toll. So like the Spurs, instead of forking all your money on 1 super star why not hire 15 good players and start your own system to make them good?
Most professional sports (I know not all) try their best to avoid regular season/playoff games in the summer due to the Olympics. LeBron, KD, and the other NBA stars can't go off to efficiently train and prep for the Basketball Olympics if the playoffs started as late as you are suggesting. This is the same reason why the BPL, Bundesliga, BBVA, and pretty much every Soccer league has no non-friendly games over the summer. Great video though, lots of good insight!
As a high level athlete in Volleyball. I would be very annoyed when I'm rested for games at a time. It all comes down to over loading at training and extra commitments the players do. The back to back nights are also a dagger in any sports
VXCurse - Destiny and Others! No its a different story I saw u must have seen the one with his dogs on the ground he had one where he was laying down with his dogs on him and you can hear Mike. idk how to look at past stories don't think you can so your gonna have to take my word for it
Hayden Grubbs Actually I'm not, are you? This is the first video I watched from this fuck and it was a clickbait. Still don't see any point discussing what ifs. And if 3/4 of his vids are what you say it is then that's just low and so are viewers. Still got any better insult? Fuck off.
btw, don't bother replying again. I'm not coming back to this shit channel. Just read this then go back to playing agario, your number 1 source of entertainment.
You don't see hockey players complaining when they have similar schedules 82 games and the playoffs start at the same time as the NBAs playoffs and the season starts around the same time
The difference is the in the amount of minutes. NBA starters can play as many as 40-30 minutes a game compared to the amount of time 1st line NHL players play and you have the reason the NBA can be so hard on players compared to the NHL
The 2017 draft class is getting a lot of hype, so I would love to see a video comparing the 2017 draft class to the greatest classes of all time(1984, 1996, 2003)
I don't agree on a lot of this I just think the league is softer. Remember when Isiah Thomas sprained his ankle game 6 in the finals against the Lakers and came back and dropped 25 in a quarter. Back then players had GRIT. Nowadays Lebron cramps up in a finals game against the spurs and sits the rest of the 4th quarter out. I remember seeing my all time fav Kobe play with a broken finger. Now they're too soft they've lost grit and whenever they feel sore they just decide to sit a game out. Byrd would get in a brawl tonight and two days later give it his all with a black eye because he had GRIT. None this about how the sport is more physical and social media bs. These are bs excuses. And NBA players resting is a load of bologna too, never seen Allen Iverson sit a game out because he had back to back games and was tired. Fatigue does not exist when you are paid MILLIONS to do your job.
Ricky Tang while I see your point at the end of the day the only person who benefits from playing through injury is you as a fan. The players have families and careers to thing about. And playing through the injury on ends up hurting them. Kobe played through tons of injuries but as we saw at the end of his career all that takes a toll on the body. And now with max contracts in 200+ million range players can't miss out on money and risk injury just to appear to have "GRIT"
Ricky Tang lol your attempt to discredit players today, especially LeBron, all while riding kobe is hilarious. Obviously you're not familiar with the human body and the things that can happen to it with repetitive stress is put on it. You're also not too sharp in the critical thinking department or even just common sense considering it shouldn't take you more than a minute to realize "oh this player is hurt for whatever reason with whatever injury, it would be smart for them to sit out until fully ready to go and not risk getting an even worse injury playing one game." Please try using your brain before trying to insult others about something you're not much informed about yourself.
Back to backs are overrated. Trust me players love back to backs, they rather play a game then have practice. Back to backs really only affect veterans
I like this Mike's videos, but his ego is trippin if he thinks the Adam Silver and the NBA give a single fuck what he thinks about how their business is run.
Miltos Killmil Fair enough. Personally, I think most of Mike's points in this video are complete bullshit. So what if today's NBA players lift more weights? And accusing old school players of not trying during the reg is completely qualitative. No-one can claim that shit. Basketball is not a sport that completely tires players out. The only thing worth listening to in this vid is what Kevin McHale had to say. I respect Mike's opinion on the league, but he's not a top 50 all time player or a former NBA coach. McHale is, so his view trumps Mike every time.
***** I guess that falls under the 'anything is possible' umbrella. But shortening the season equals losing revenue and pissing off a lot of fans. No NBA commissioner will ever do it. No matter who gets in his ear.
***** But the thing is, these guys are fit enough to play back to backs. Two games of basketball back to back, 35-40 mins of ball two days in a row, is not as taxing as one session of serious fitness training. I personally think the so called problem is overly exaggerated.
Have you done a conspiracy video on steroids in the NBA? That's something that doesn't get a lot of national attention. It's like we don't want to believe it.
i totally agree. i love to watch and play basketball but 82 games is way to much + playoffs. in every other sport soccer/football they are playing just 1 game a week and injuries are still happening even there. this amount of games is too much for almost every athlete. as a hobby player i played basketball in my league had about 20 games this year and at the end of the season i was very exhausted. yes i am not an professional athlete by far not but they are still human beeings and the more they play the more is a risk of getting injuries.
Just go to settings and turn off injuries
Dik Chode lol
Haha true
doesnt work for d rose tho. jkjk :)
Dik Chode lol
Saitama that was savage! W
Coaches who rest players need to tell the NBA ahead of time to avoid fans wasting money and time.
Slaymian Killard The Nba will still not like that since then the amount of people at the game would drastically decrease or the price of the tickets would decrease meaning less money being made.
Yeah lets let players injure themselves so that a bunch of billionaires don't lose out on a good few million....fuck off.
Slaymian Killard its there fault

Slaymian Killard true if i buy tickets to see lebron and he needs rest that's fine but i would want a heads up so i can sell my tickets
Mike Korzemba is the reason why I'm so interested in the NBA.
SSG Strikedown Sports Gaming yup, and the way the audio is on the video lol..so dramatic

I was at a raptors game and they rest Kyle and demar
Maybe then you'll understand how much Terrence Ross and Valenciunas make a difference....
+GarrettGarza22 indeed
fuck i'm a raptors fan and that would suck so much
They desperately needed to do that by the way. Dwayne relies FAR too much on Kyle & DeMar to do the bulk of everything on the team. That's why they keep getting injured. When one goes down, it forces the other to pick up double the already extreme weight they were already carrying which in turn causes that one to also get inured. The Warriors running out of things to choke is lowkey a major problem.

NBA should have challenge plays , like if they made a bad foul call , they could review it etc
Prime Time true
Prime Time but only in playoff games, because thats what matters the most, nobody gives a fuck about a missed call between nets and mavericks or something like that
felipe araos facts
That would drag the game on
Jay Seps no it wouldn't instead of reviewing every play in the 4th quarter they'd only review plays that are challenged.
4:59 oh... my fucking... god. who ever is tapping that won at life.
The warriors blew a 14 point lead on Christmas. Flip those numbers. 4-1=3. The cavs won by 1. The warriors blew a 3-1 lead in the NBA Finals. Merry Christmas

In Football (soccer) we rest players all the time and nobody has a problem with it.
TruthS33ker I think it's because football(Soccer) is a sport where you run all the time so players need time to rest or else their body could run down
cus in soccer you have you have your'e club team and international team
euro or copa or world cup, and tons of league tournaments
But Soccer/Football matches have +90 minutes with only 3 subs
also football players play at least double the minutes an NBA player does
TruthS33ker in UEFA Champions League teams can't rest their best players
The league's biggest problem is greed.
craig m, given how quickly the players and owners agreed to a collective bargaining agreement this time around i think you're way off here. unless you're talking about the owners i don't get your point. for every kobe there is a tim duncan. i know a lot of middle to lower tier guys sign huge contracts that they don't deserve, but somebody has to offer those guys a contract before they can sign it.
There's no point.
amen to that
Even if they are greedy, extending the length of the season would be mutually beneficial for everyone as they're gonna make more money
I mean, Memphis best three players Conley gasol and parsons didn't play in Cleveland either
LeBryant Howard gasol did
There's no Mike Conley and Marc Gasol fans in Ohio
Notification Squad it was a back to back where Cleveland hosted Memphis first and the next day Memphis hosted Cleveland. Gasol rested in the first game where the big three was actually playing.
Chivo I was just saying neither teams have the top 3 players at road, not about fans at all.
LeBryant Howard gasol and conley are nowhere near lebron and kyrie tf?

I rlly wish Adam Silver could see this
Trust me ppl around him bring it to his attention
OfficialOliver
+Gabriel El Leon ROFL
that won't matter whether he sees this. Men like him only has interests on money. The well being of players, or other people, are not of his concerns. He gets the money and that's all he cares
Billy Yang indeed, this is how the world works. Its like saying Pharma companies care about the consumers well being.
The problem isn't the amount of games. It's the amount of back to backs.
Why the hell does the NBA season have to start in late october and not on october 1st?
i dont get it either!!!!
same
brian watts that's what he said
spurs baby we can go back to back rest our starters by 15-25 minutes a game
Someone send this video the NBA front office! This is a really good idea
Yea very good idea... Less time to wait for the season to start...
I like the video and I see where he's coming from but not only is there multiple reasons as to why this would be impossible but there are many reasons why it wouldn't be good. However I agree on the preseason stuff and I would go as far to say that no sport should have a preseason
Javian Johnson ૂ
No thanks
orestisDisturbed you risk getting injured with every single game you play... if you recover and sleep properly you can play every single game
If you want 3-4 more years of him playing, you have to give him a pass on back-to-back games at least...
mj played all 246 games in his last 3 years with the Bulls while averaging about 36-38 minutes per game.
rusty steiner he also took 2 years break from the NBA after only 9 seasons...
Why Can't They Just Get Rid Of The Preseason
players need some warm-up match.. maybe not so much for a veteran star players, but for some rookies or new member of a certain team preseason is where they learn about their new team plays in real game situations.
Alright
Chris Whyte The Preseason is vital. It lets players gel as a unit or see how rookies play against NBA players.
they have the summer league for that. I agree the preseason is ass
Why Do You Capitalize Every Word
The biggest problem in the NBA is the shitty refs blowing away games
YRN Jon Swavyy Like 2016 finals game 6
Max-Alain Pierre-Pierre And the Warrior Cavs Christmas game
Self Made Trillin IKR both the Cavs and Warriors are doing something wrong in that game but they just ignored it.
Self Made Trillin haha bitch your warriors took L. finally your annoying comments mean nothing.
Self Made Trillin hey i seem to see you commenting in every bball video. Especially warriors vids. IM GLAD I SEE MORE WARRIOR FANS LIKE ME!
5:00 is my favourite part
I was searching the comments to see if anyone was talking about her lol
Kris Joseph same her brush lol
Even the worst teams in the league would have at least 2 all star level players on their teams.
sounds like a nice idea but all people care bout is $
na what would be better would shorten the regular season so it gets competitive. It should be somewhere around 50 games
the league is making moves to make sure star players dont form super teams as we saw happen this off season
Here is more stupid ideas.
Gabriel El Leon Nah it's only huge in football and baseball.
Awesome work as always, Mike!!
+GD's Highlights Thanks brotha!
GD's Highlights That moment when im subscribed to the both of you
+Mike Korzemba Kevin is right... players get paid millions and the rest just because their tiered... 😧
GD's Highlights you used your 2014-2015 channel highlights for personal account
You're worst than sernandoe
Mike makes you look at the NBA in a whole different way
The Beast I
Mike you should have looked at the number of injuries in the playoffs from the 2011 lockout shortened season. That would have been a good indicator whether a shorter season leads to less injuries
What he is saying is more rest between games. Altho the shortened season had less games it also had less time to be played in. The actually played more games per week in that season, and had to do back2back2backs so the injuries actually may have been more.
That season had back2back2back games...
You showed my boy Javale McGeeeeeeee
Member Berry lol u were probably making fun of him before he went to GS (no hate tho id do the same thing)
Member Berry L
Sam C Gamer not gonna lie i still laugh at him but he can ball he always could but its just hilarious what he does and imo that adds to his wtachabilty
He is in btw
Luke Sirrell lmao fr
You can rest when you earn it, Duncan,Lebron,Manu,Tony parker,Wade
Warriors blew a 3-1 lead or when you get old and your body starts getting hurt/sore.
Warriors blew a 3-1 lead w
Warriors blew a 3-1 lead wade is the only one that deserves some rests and Duncan is resting already
Duncans retired shithead
I said he's resting don't understand English
why aren't you the commissioner?
Figuring out shit like this is only very little of what a nba commisioner does. TV deals, marketing and basically everything regarding nba
Nick is that an insult I'm just asking
Nick if you really think that then stop watching the vids
It is an insult and Adam Silver is no better than David Stern.
Melanie Rosen because he's heavily biased and isn't wise enough in basketball
very detailed bro. great job. no wonder 607k views in 2 Days
Why not a 58 game season? Play every team twice. Once home, once away. The games hold more weight that way.
too few games
Nah NBA needs that money 82 games will never change.
agreed, the division/conference stuff is outdated - you could have a worse record just because of the division/conference you are in which leads to unfair situations
The Lonely #1 nah, 58 games make it look like we in a lockout again
The Lonely #1 What about tiebreakers
The tempo in games has completely changed since the 80s and 90s...i mean its a regular thing for teams to score 120+
Before scoring 100 was like 115 today
Giggs Will Tear You Apart No it doesn't. Back when Wilt played the pace of the game was faster then today's. Teams has way more possessions, the only reason teams didn't put up 200 a game was due to low FG%
Mike could say Kevin Durant is the smallest player in NBA history and I would still probably believe him
LIKE IF HE SHOULD BE THE COMMISSIONER!!!!!!!!
Thought it was going to be about the refs but that's none of my business 🐸☕️
Joey Tavares I'd display several video clips but that'd make me look bias...
Also Adam Silver's got less courage than my 8 year old sister for saying KD was fouled on the last play of the Christmas game.
The refs have sucked for every sport for as long as their has been sports asking for better refs is like asking for better players we have the best their is and that's not saying young stars wont rise its just a statement saying there isn't any hiding out of the NBA lol
Joey Tavares 😂😂😂
Joey Tavares Everyone talks about the refs. Read the title.
I went to a cavs mavs game just to see lebron with some decent seats and he rested and kyrie was in for around 8 minutes
Daddy Barends I feel bad for anyone who has to go to a mavs game.
Daddy Barends They were Mavs tickets, you can't be too mad. They probably cost you pocket change.
Prices for games against top teir teams sky rocket even if ur team is ass
Players don't want to have a shortened vacation
Mike didn't think about this at all Lol.
Well... the easy argument is "With how much they're paid, they can't complain".
True but with all the money they get, they shouldn't be crying. Choose another profession if it hurts you that much
That's like you saying to doctor to revive the deads. "That's your job! I paid you for it! No excuses!"
Do a "what if Shaquille's real name was shaq"
Jack no I would watch it
How tf would that change anything
Bob Dylan ask your mom, moms always know where to find stuff. I hope she can help you find your sense of humor.
justin a Damn... that was honestly a good one
justin a dude its better that his name is Shaquille because it rhymes when you say Shaquille o neal
This sounds nice but don't you also want players to enjoy their summers to?
Retros King theyre getting paid millions of dollars, fuck that
Retros King soo? The average person bust their ass all year around why can't they?,they get paid millions of dollars.
Retros King they already are spending them working out and busting their butt's. the ones that matter anyway
so many people cry about how much they get paid. They chose that career path, and you could have too.
💥THE BIGGEST ISSUE THAT EVERYONE IS SCARED TO MENTION IS💥
The players of today are more like "property or investments" and they are worth a whole lot more than players did in the past so they are trying to protect all of their $$$$$MONEY!$$$$$
JudoStar Judoka tru
This is so true, as so many starters have been injured in the playoffs. Players such as Lowry, IT,etc
fam you're actually the goat these videos are amazing
Jack Hoff. I'm with ya, shorter quarters
Players have come out and said that it's not about how many minutes in a game, its more about how many games in a season. It starts to wear on them.
Its not the minutes every game bro, its the amount of games (82) in a short period of time (164).
what good is the ratings if the players are injured? I agree that it adds some drama though.
extend the season schedule to remove back to back games so players can actually rest
these leagues should really address this problem.
I don't see why they would care. It's a business. You would just make more money.
if they make their sports alot more interesting to watch your problem is solved
Hey mike I noticed something coming from the orlando magic organization. I've noticed that ex-players that played there some have come out the bench or not even get playing time on the floor, when they go to a new team they become starters and are more of value to the new team there are in currently. EX jj reddick, mo harkless, ryan anderson, in some way shaq, marcin gortat. It would be cool if you can put a little more research and make a video on it.
Javier Cruz Good observation
iShootTooMuch thanks
Gotta love the fans! 5:01
Lebron and the refs is a problem
L for mentioning LeBron
Costello4k L for Defending Lebron
James Ortiz Y'all some damn haters. LeBron isn't the only OR main superstar that gets favoritism from refs. Jordan z Magic, Kobe, all of them got favored too. This "LeBron is the only superstar with favoritism" bs is ridiculous. You're just a hater if you disagree
Rememba Kemba LeBron is the only one
Harjot Minhas bullshit
Best NBA content on RUclips and it isn't even close.
You should be able to rest your players. But should send a notice so fans will know who will not play. That's my opinion.
I'm soooo early so let me think of a joke
James harden's defense
alex davidson stop 😂😂😂
alex davidson L.
alex davidson he's pretty good at D
alex davidson damn you prove his point in the video

As always, such a great video, Mike!
Oriģinālais_Kārlīc ikr
The two most serious problems in the NBA are league favoritism and flopping.
Well as long as you feel that way, that's all that matters.
What makes you think I give a fuck about what you think?
Alec Baldlose lol he was trying to be nice, but I'll be straight with you: You're an idiot.
Have a nice day, sport.
Alec Baldlose What makes you think we give a fuck about what you think by posting a public comment?
Alec Baldlose Just because I commented doesn't mean I "care" about what you said. I'm just pointing out how stupid you sounded there. You are the literal definition of an Internet tough guy
And you're the literal definition of a waste of oxygen.
you nailed it, schedule fewer back to backs, and start the season earlier to lessen the amount of back to backs. Situations like 4 games in 5 nights on the road and 5 games that week alone (like what happened with the Spurs) is ridiculous.
When Mike and Colin upload at the same time
I love all your videos and I've watched all of them.
I agree with what you are saying but if they were made not to get injured then why do they get injured
I hope people see that
Keep 82 games just stretch them out longer.
I really trust his videos
do a what if Shaq never left the lakers
Dude I found your channel 30 mins ago and I haven't left yet. This channel is my current binge, great work. You have single handedly resparked my interest in the league.
Yeah he mentioned the injuries, but not the types. For example, rest doesn't prevent a sprained ankle from happening.
MrJustinCredible it can because rest takes away some stress from muscles bones joints etc.. so u would be surprised at the difference it makes
a lot of injuries are a build up of all the tension on the player's bodies. any time off helps them recovery
FaZe Kris W You're right. I've discussed this NBA topic with a few team doctors and they agree that back to backs are a cause of injuries.
I really like the modified schedule.
i dont get what your saying mike are you tired of players resting? or you think its fine to rest players ?
He wants to eliminate back-to-back games by stretching out the schedule so players don't get tired and don't need to rest.
Josh Smith what he saying is this it's alright to rest players but we the fans want to see them play hard and win but without back to back games
I'm truly happy for your success.
if we shorten the season i want a 20 second shot clock
Yeah
the spurs n coach pop is doing this for years, resting their players for the playoffs and it worked, when was the last time the spurs did not make the playoffs? never, they will always be a playoff contender coz of coach pop
Agree. We know that it's their job and they get paid millions to play. But the increase of muscle mass, constant traveling, takes a toll. So like the Spurs, instead of forking all your money on 1 super star why not hire 15 good players and start your own system to make them good?
Kyrie is clutch
Most professional sports (I know not all) try their best to avoid regular season/playoff games in the summer due to the Olympics. LeBron, KD, and the other NBA stars can't go off to efficiently train and prep for the Basketball Olympics if the playoffs started as late as you are suggesting. This is the same reason why the BPL, Bundesliga, BBVA, and pretty much every Soccer league has no non-friendly games over the summer. Great video though, lots of good insight!
Kevin McHale never got tired cause all he did was post up and grab rebounds
Franco Tosca L
and eating
Franco Tosca lol
Franco Tosca fuck of. He's a legend
its that easy
easier said than done but excellent vid
Spurs could have beaten the Warriors this western conference finals if Kawhi didn't get hurt.
Love your facial enthusiasm and tone when talking everytime. Smart.
The Warriors blew a 3-1 lead and a 14 point lead. Bravo.
I hope I see you on espn as a main host my dued
You should have showed 10-11 or 11-12 season forgot which one it was that only had 66 games stats of injuries
But I actually don't like the 66 game season tbh I really don't mind if they rest just let them rest
Rewind that's because there was a partial lockout
yes I know, he should have shown what the stats were to compare to a regular season.
Rewind But that season had even less off days and some teams had to play a couple back to back to backs
As a high level athlete in Volleyball. I would be very annoyed when I'm rested for games at a time. It all comes down to over loading at training and extra commitments the players do. The back to back nights are also a dagger in any sports
WATCH D'ANGELO RUSSELL'S LATEST STORY ON IG, YOU CAN HEAR ONE OF YOU VIDS IN THE BACKGROUND

IRON PHOENIX thank you I asked this like 3 months ago it would make a good video from him
There's no point in discussing a "what if"
Hayden Grubbs Actually I'm not, are you? This is the first video I watched from this fuck and it was a clickbait. Still don't see any point discussing what ifs. And if 3/4 of his vids are what you say it is then that's just low and so are viewers. Still got any better insult? Fuck off.
btw, don't bother replying again. I'm not coming back to this shit channel. Just read this then go back to playing agario, your number 1 source of entertainment.
John Paul Ong alright man have fun dude just make sure the next time you say something idiotic expect someone to reply
TBH idk why I get so excited when I see that you have uploaded a video. You should post more in imstagram
You don't see hockey players complaining when they have similar schedules 82 games and the playoffs start at the same time as the NBAs playoffs and the season starts around the same time
Geno_Grondin21 hockey is for babies
The difference is the in the amount of minutes. NBA starters can play as many as 40-30 minutes a game compared to the amount of time 1st line NHL players play and you have the reason the NBA can be so hard on players compared to the NHL
Geno_Grondin21 Coming from a Hockey fan it's because hockey players are a different breed of athletes.
Erik Lerström take shit too seriously my man they are just games
Baseball players have 162 games, they give some days off. Nobody cares.
adam silver needs to take a look at this
bro when I watch this like this about problems of the nba or stories that prove so and so isnt human u inspire me to make an nba yt channel of my own

KORZEMBA for cfo of the NBA. this formula makes perfect sense. 🏀 is a summer sport anyway.
Mike could tell me javale McGhee is an all time great and I would believe him
The 2017 draft class is getting a lot of hype, so I would love to see a video comparing the 2017 draft class to the greatest classes of all time(1984, 1996, 2003)
I don't agree on a lot of this I just think the league is softer.
TimePrime couldn't agree with you more
Ricky Tang lol your attempt to discredit players today, especially LeBron, all while riding kobe is hilarious.
Obviously you're not familiar with the human body and the things that can happen to it with repetitive stress is put on it. You're also not too sharp in the critical thinking department or even just common sense considering it shouldn't take you more than a minute to realize "oh this player is hurt for whatever reason with whatever injury, it would be smart for them to sit out until fully ready to go and not risk getting an even worse injury playing one game."
Please try using your brain before trying to insult others about something you're not much informed about yourself.
Back to backs are overrated. Trust me players love back to backs, they rather play a game then have practice. Back to backs really only affect veterans
back to back game will finally affect young players too in the long term
Genius!!!!!!! :)
I like how you do your research, analyze, and stick to what you actually know.
I like this Mike's videos, but his ego is trippin if he thinks the Adam Silver and the NBA give a single fuck what he thinks about how their business is run.
i know Adam Silver does give a fuck but the way Mike pictures the problem he really should!!!
***** That might be well and good in theory, but in practice, the logistical gymnastics needed for that to happen are probably close to impossible.
***** But the thing is, these guys are fit enough to play back to backs. Two games of basketball back to back, 35-40 mins of ball two days in a row, is not as taxing as one session of serious fitness training.
I personally think the so called problem is overly exaggerated.
what about the refs? the biggest problem of the NBA now is refs ...
The warriors blew a 3-1 lead
